Another reason for shooting on a blue screen over a greenscreen is greenscreens often leave a more contaminated edge while blue screens preserve detail better. Blue screens also work better for night scenes because less contamination and any blue spill will feel more natural. If you key an actor on a green screen and composite them onto a dark shot the edge will be harder to make natural. Green screens for day blue screens for night scenes.
The Wolf of Wall Street scene when he was walking on the bridge in Venice. The green screen was used to construct the set extension. The bridge was merely a lament pattern laid down on the floor. There was a green screen placed in that deep background to be used as a plate. The entire environment was then constructed around them in 3D renderings. Another scene similarly constructed was from The Walk. In order to get the vintage New York city scape, the production shoot on location in New York neighborhoods, but used very large green screens in deep BG as a reference plate. They would track the screen and then use the camera data to mimic in a CG render of old style and textured New York Buildings. Many people never realize these are green screened shots because the green screen is used as a set extension. the CG images are layered over and incorporated with the already existing scenery!
Does shooting with a more open F Stop help make for a better key? Would f/2.8 or f/5.6 be better? Also, thoughts on upping the shutter speed to 1/100 to help freeze action making the key better as well?
Keep your green screen tight, light it even and under the level of your key.Introduce backlight to help with separation and keep subject as far away from the screen to avoid green spill onto the costume.
The best way to light a green screen is to light with kenos, from above (this is important), with green bulbs. The green bulbs will saturate the green screen and bring out the color for better keying. Also, your subject should be at least 6 to 8 feet away or more for a better key.
I'm broke, so I'm using a bedsheet with a projector behind it. The menu screen is set to green, so it lights up the white sheet green. It works for now until I get better at after effects and can justify a more expensive setup.
What is a good light to use for lighting the green screen. Price range about 400€ for 2. Already have lights for a 3-point-lighting. Just wanna use it for a news segment, nothing fancy, really simple green screen use.
David Fincher "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" the scene inside the Millennium magazine offices with Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) and Erika Berger (Robin Wright). All of the windows that look to the EXT are green screen. Actually, with many of Fincher's more recent works, most interior sets are blue/green screened for windows and doors.
Three questions: 1. What paint would I use for my wall, if i were to make that my first choice? Would it require non-reflective paint? 2. What lights would you recommend? Is there a green bulb that makes it better or worse? 3. How don't you guys don't already have views in the ten's of millions? On another note, for so many of these videos saying that our problem is the lighting but not even hinting at the type or brand of lights we need? Is so Californian.
Thank you so much for this! No wonder I was having so much trouble. I had the subject right in front of the green screen and had issues properly lighting both the subject and the green screen simultaneously and had a problem with editing due to spilling
You forgot to iron /steam your fabric! and stretch it out as much as you can. not really gonna matter for users with gh4, a7s, but if you use a cheaper camera like canon t2i , it will help a lot
What kind of lights are you guys using here to light the green screen? I'm limited on both space and storage space and so don't want to have to use full size bank lights. Do yours illuminate it as well as a bank? And with just 2?
using a different color light for the subject can help as well as moving the subject closer to the camera. if the subject is too reflective, try changing the location, like for product shoots.
If you don't have a proffesional moniter I think you can use an instant camera (like Kubrick did, yet he didn't use greenscreens (he used other tools)) to check for light and shade and problems that may occur. It works especially well if you're using film.
Hey there, I need a green/blue screen for several youtube interviews. Thing is that I have very little room in my room. Any recommendations? I have same exact F light you say I should avoid at minute 2:57 on my bedroom X'D I'm also on a budget
I bought the emart green screen lighting kit and I realized after turning it on in my apartment that actually the key to good home decor is lighting....try using a green screen lighting kit to light your home instead of just a normal lamps and stuff and you'll know what I mean I think I found another secret to awesome home decor if you don't mind your home looking like a studio which is pretty awesome 😎👍'its what I do!
I am painting my bedroom wall with rosco digicomp HD paint. I want permanent lighting in the ceiling to light it. I would prefer Philips hue bulbs. B22 806 lumen white ambiance are the bulbs I’m using throughout the house - all voice controlled with accessories. I was thinking maybe five in a bar along the ceiling in front of the wall - 4 for the screen and 1 for the backlight. What do you think?
We use a green screen for our high school newscast. This year, we want to add a LCD monitor behind the anchors so we can play graphics and video in the monitor. No problem, except that our logo is blue and yellow and when we key out the green screen in our Tricaster, the logo becomes transparent. If we adjust far enough to get the logo to look correct, the green screen begins to appear. Can this be solved by adding separate lights to the green screen and the anchors? Right now, we pretty much just have the area flooded. Any help is appreciated, or lincolnlive@gjps.org. Thanks.
What did you say at the beginning, sorry with that loud into music blasting out into my headphones and the quiet voice it's just crazy and my ears aren't too happy.
Zodiac, the scene outside when police investigate the cab driver's murder. I was blown away when I found out they had shot that in a studio with a wrap around green screen and 3D markers.
If you don't get your green screen even around your subject you can just do more than one keying to key out any other shades of the green. More work but sometimes you don't have the right lighting setup at your disposal.
I have two scenes, if that's okay? All the scenes of the Mickelvoss Twins from The Social Network (Armie Hammer is NOT a twin!), and the birth of the newborn baby in Children of Men (scary good VFX).
My Favorite movie in which Green scene work was done was the movie Inception ... One can almost deny any VFX work that was done. It was that seamless. Thanks for the video guys ! Your Products Rock.☺
In his 50-year career directing movies, Woody Allen (81) recently used a green screen for the first time for 2016's CAFE SOCIETY, in the scene where Jesse Eisenberg and Kristin Stewart drive to the Hollywood sign of the 1930s, proving definitively that you're never too old to learn new things.
Maybe I was looking for more technical information about the lights and color of the green screen. Most viewers I assume are looking to find the MOST OPTIOMAL conditions and WHY they used those specific lights in the film cuts you used in the beginning.
What IRE do you want your green screen to be? I see many different ideas on what that should be online and from the video, it looked like you're IRE was around 70-80.
The scene in SKYFALL where they blow up the MI6 building They actually built a huge green screen structure and on top of it blew up a model of the top of the actual building, then keyed-in the bottom of it.

is there like one cost effective package you can recommend for a green screen kit, of course best quality too.

Every scene with Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump! Glad to see Charmichael here so often. Good tips btw!

what size is the collapsible green screen in this video? what minimum size for full body?

Don't iron it, make the screen wet and those wrinkles will go out by themselves while drying
