That’s a very specific first aid example.

Sorry about that, it got away from me. I remember this story but couldn't find any reference to it. I think it was one of those illustrated “Scouts in Action” from an old Boy's Life magazine. I just thought it was clever. YIS⚜

My earliest memory from summer camp that I know is from my first summer camp in 1980 is of a scouter standing up at our waterfront safety lecture and being in tears by the time that he finished telling us about his troop having a boy drown the previous year because they didn't follow safe swim defense.

As a Boy Scout in the 70's,, I always carried Morse code flags and semaphore flags in my backpack.

I don't know how universal it is, but our council, Erie Shores, 460, holds suicide prevention and intervention classes.

I didn't notice you mention blade safety.

@markbrown2640 - Recently we had a video dedicated completely to Totin’ Chip.[ th-cam.com/video/Yfec2d24u4Y/w-d-xo.html ] With all of the items listed in the most recent video, safety is a factor in teaching techniques and skill development. Thank you so much for your feedback. YIS⚜

Something that both youth and adults need to learn is the importance of reviewing, especially when it comes to safety.
We need to know how to deal with emergencies, but it's easier to deal with emergencies when they have been prevented.
This is why Scouting ⚜️ America has us do both incident reports and "near miss" reports.

Too much see one, do one, teach one in Scouting now days IMHO. Skills need to be refreshed often so they stick.
