Throw some ATF down the cylinders and let it soak for half a day, also I didn't see a generator so there's a really good chance this was converted over to 12 volt and needs a bigger battery! Great content, keep at it guys!
Here from TikTok, finally some new content on TH-cam. Anyways, seems like your starter is struggling to get engine speed up. New piston rings will help too!
It may be that your timing is too far advanced and the engine is fighting itself. Did you clean all the little holes in the carb and check the accelerator pump? That's how I got mine going better. Tom
That doesn't seem to be a 1953, it could be from 1949-1952, Seinfeld as it's an l160 it is a 2 ton truck. 1953 was the year they changed the grill design and changed to the R series, the 49-52s had mustaches on the grill and most trucks after that had mouth like grills. Pretty cool find.
So like yo your starter is bad. Engine won’t run because it’s not getting enough dynamic compression, which is the extra force the pistons move air even with or without the presence of piston rings. You obviously have some compression so your rings aren’t completely terrible. More piston speed would solve this obviously and y’all had a lot of power going to that starter leading me to believe that starter is tired. Goodluck with sourcing a new one and I hope to see it running next video! What a solid unit
Cranking too slowly. if it had more cranking power it would start.. Even when you had that one sparkplug our it should start OK. I've seen those old engines running on just 2 of the 6 cylinders often.

Thanks for the tips, Kevin! We love your channel and appreciate the help!
Didn't see the generator that was in plain sight the whole time... Lol what a dumbass
Its 6 volt, big generator right under the battery.. im converting a 41 international k3
Hook onto that thing and tow it! It'll run! Had to tow start a lot of those pld farm trucks 1st start in the spring, or sitting awhile...

Haha, hopefully we will start putting more videos out more frequently. Thanks for the tips.
you guys are highly underrated, really love the chanel, happy you were in my fyp
Thanks!
Do you still have the truck? No follow up video
The starter needs to be rebuilt.

Think you are going to have to get a starter or rebuild this one!!
Your going to have to get it to turn over faster to ever get it to fire!

Mine is a '53 also, but it is a carry over. It was likely built in '52 and sold in '53.
I'm shocked that ya didn't blow the 6 volt battety to the moon.
Well it's been 2 years, have you got it started yet?
If not, watch some will it start videos...
We are letting it marinate a little longer outside 😂

Is that a 6 volt system??
Yes, it is 6 volt
Put Murphy's miracle oil small amount down in the cylinders, then try to test compression, ether doesn't hurt either.
We have marvel mystery oil soaking in the cylinders now. Thanks
Hold you hand over the carburator
We did hold our hand over the carb. Didn’t notice any vacuum leaks, had good suction.

Change starter
Okay get rid of tractor supply 6 volt battery they are junk. get a optima 6 volt battery or put a 12 volt battery and convert it over to 12 volt
Thanks for the tip!
First bro 😎
Ayyeee howdy! Thanks for joining.
thats not a 53
Ethonal free gas
Thunderhead289 he has good videos that should help
Thanks for the tip
