Makes for a sad day for the Chickletts when there is rain as no sandbox time. :-(

I think my girl's diarrhea is going away. Thank goodness! The fecal test came back negative for parasites or coccidia and was only $18. I think I am going to take a fecal specimen to the vet again in spring because it is affordable for the peace of mind it gives me to know if there is a problem or not and not be guessing. Just wish we didn't have to drive an hour and a half one way to the vet. But, the leaves are changing and the vet is in a really beautiful area, so we enjoyed the ride. We also found some really pretty pansies to plant in my Mom's flower beds along the way.
It is the pits when the weather makes for a droopy day for the chickens.
A giant tree limb fell at the church where I work and they had it cut up and stacked in a huge pile today. I asked if I could take some of the logs for my chickens, so we have some new perches to tuck around the yard for enrichment. The nextdoor neighbor beside the church was watching me try to pull logs from the pile without toppling the whole thing. It was a little scary and probably funny to watch, but I felt like it was a huge score and worth the trouble!
You would probably worry something is wrong if Mer wasn't rushing you for snacks! It is good they have space under the coop to get away from the rain. If they dont get to be in the sand box every day, it will be so much more special on days they get to.
Hope you got to take some time to recover today and your injections help. Take care!

That does sound like a nice drive but I agree it’s a shame it’s a 3h round trip without stops so probably ends up taking most of the day. And nice it’s so affordable! I should check here too again. But I think chicken needs special vet and that’s about 45 min from me too!
I don’t think it’s ever a droopy day for my flock but more of an inconvenience. lol
I hope your church didn’t get damaged. Kinda sad they didn’t offer to help you get those branches. I would have offered even when in pain, how I was raised. Have you done anything yet with it? How does buddy and his ladies like it?
I did take that day for recovery and did I need it. I did most of the cuts for the dog crate yesterday and have a few more to do today once it’s begun to be assembled. Trim for example best cut as needed. And need to rip 2 cuts down to 2” wide from the 2.5 planks cut from. :-)

@@mylittlefarmlifeCanada Yes, it is a whole day when we have to make a trip to the avian vet.
The tree fell on the fence. The buildings were spared. It won't be hard to fix. My husband was helping me gather the logs, so it was all good with the neighbor. We plan to put them around the yard this weekend. Will put some in the fort and some in their favorite spots. We hope to get started on a second winter fort on the other side of the house that blocks the wind. We have some pallets my husband got at school and plan to use those to make the structure. We will see how it goes. We are not handy like you are--it will probably be janky, but hopefully it will be sturdy. It is behind the fence, so no neighbors have to look at it if it is ugly. I will email some pics when we get it done.
