That's why he would pick on Peter all the time. He knew that Peter has great relationships with his uncle and aunt and that made him mad.
The AC/DC song from the opening sequence of the first Iron Man film playing as Peter Parker was creating his new suit was a nice way of passing the torch. The moment with Happy Hogan seeing Peter Parker creating his suit with the 3D printer brought back to Iron Man (2008) just as Tony Stark was creating his mark II armor.
Cameron McEwen for some actual contrast to let people know that it’s not actually the same JJJ from the Raimi Trilogy. And it also gives a more Alex-Jonesy-vibe that they’re going for.

God I loved this movie so much. The score was amazing, the action was some of the best in the MCU, nearly every joke landed for me, the chemistry between the cast and everyone's performances were spot on. Both after credits scenes blew my freakin mind too.

The scene I consider the best in the movie, is Spidey and Mysterio's first battle, it's basically the comic book coming alive on a big screen, exactly how Mysterio and Spider-Man would battle and how Spider-Man would struggle with Mysterio, through Mysterio's illusions and manipulation, very well executed imo.

I agree with you, honestly, I feel this was a plan born of response. He assessed the situation (Spiderman exposing the drones) and he adapted to that and created a new narrative he was going to sell the public. He didn't intend on dying, he was going to shoot Peter and use the footage to justify his action of killing him. That his team used added Becks death and sent it off was either him trying to do right by Beck, do wrong by Stark or both. Either way, I don't think the reality of the harm his actions did to a minor played into his thought process.
I don't see how he could have uploaded that cause when did he have time to film it? He is just laying there dying. He couldn't have known he was going to die before. He figured he was just going to kill everyone. Seemed alot contrived.

I think Mysterio could easily be brought back. I think he faked his death. EDITH said that there were no illusions around, but Mysterio could have used practical effects such as robotics and EDITH's statement still could be correct. Mysterio in the comics was skilled in practical effects and robotics.
Of course Mysterio is NOT dead. He's freaking Mysterio!!! Look, he could have used the drug that Fury used in Winter Soldier which would not have been an illusion.
Never saw it coming? literally everyone who knows the Mysterio character predicted the twist after the very first trailer showed him as a hero. A few people were grasping at straws that maybe the multiverse was real because one time in the comics he had a multiverse storyline... but at he's core the character is an illusionist that tricks people into thinking he's a hero, you don't do the first live action version of that character without that aspect.
I didn’t like Homecoming like most people do, but Far from home worked for me. The action sequence of Spider-Man FFH was very original, the abandoned building illusion sequence was glorious. A very smart movie with a clear social commentary of the sate of our society with its fake news.
Easy fix for Peter’s identity. He has EDITH. Just do what Mysterio did and have a hologram Spider-Man swinging through the city, while you’re out and about and make sure it swings near enough that people see you both in the same place.

The romance between MJ/Peter was awkward, but it was a cute awkward. Totally believable and really enjoyed how the romance was used in this film. Definitely a movie I loved and a fantastic MCU addition. The fights as well, I mean, what more could you ask for?
Part of me does not think that it was Mysterio's request to leak the video but instead the team was working for a greater force like Oscorp and will be the team to make the sinister 6 suits.

One of my friends wanted us to leave before the end credit scenes. I tried to explain that the scenes were important, but she just replied: "Important to you." She then told me and another friend that we were "the only ones who sit through the end credits in movies" as if we were doing something abnormal. She was an annoying know-it-all type. We later found out that she's been skipping all the marvel end-credit scenes for the last 10 years; thinking they were no big deal.

Given the midcredit scene I think the next one will start right after this one. They could do a time jump in the middle of the movie, but the last reveal requires that Peter and his loved ones take action immediately to discredit both J Jonah and Beck. A friendly Skrull may be very useful to show Peter and Spidey together at the same time

I didn't catch it till the end of the credits when it was Talos, but when Spiderman says Captain Marvel, Fury said we don't invoke that name, like it is revered above all, which makes sense from Captain Marvel.
Favorite single line in the movie "You'll never live up to tony. Tony didn't live up to tony, he was a mess". It's true, and it spoke to so much in Peter's story, as well as this franchise, about living up to the perfect man who never actually existed. Tony learned early on that he was his own man "we are not soldiers", his line in the original Avengers was a perfect embodiment of his character, and this lesson. No one can be anyone else, they can only try to be the best version of themselves
This version of Mysterio felt like an amalgamation of a former Stark Employee Gary Gilbert with Quentin Beck having similar qualities to Gilbert but they still retain his profession of a special effects wizard who works in the movie industry. The illusion casting with the drones that are being controlled by Edith was pretty great. Seeing the drones creating all the different elementals was awesome. Also the character of Dimitri being a mystery is nicely saved because he is definitely going to be Chameleon for a future sequel. I think they could introduce his brother Kraven in the threequel. The way Quentin Beck creates his allusion, controlling precisely was perfect.
Mysterio turning was super obvious to true spidey fans but I loved my theatres reaction because I was happy it wasn’t spoiled for my friends. It was literally the perfect film representation of what I’d read in the comics growing up and even the 90s cartoon which is still one of the best. And just because it was obvious it doesn’t take away from how well it was written, that’s what makes this rendition of Spider-Man so perfect. The guy took all the footage away at the end how did everyone forget this. Clearly this is a set up with like Oscorp and the Sinister Six. Beck was a pawn at the end with the doctored footage imo

Far From Home is an impressive film, and I walked away having witnessed completely new things in a Spiderman movie. Highs: -all the Tony Stark memorials -setting locations (so refreshing to be outside of NYC) -Mysterio character and fight scenes Lows: -some CGI was wonky, but not terrible -Wish Ned was a little more involved, but he was hilarious in the bit. Overall, I’m really happy with this movie as an MCU fan. I’m really looking forward to the future; those end credits were amazing. Jonah Jameson!

I thought it was interesting that Flash sort of defended Peter when it came to Brad and the photo when Peter wasn't there. Like it wasn't an outright a defense but he could have easily jumped on Brad's side to embarrass Peter. Instead he was like "bro not cool" when it was about taking photos in bathrooms. It wasn't much but I think it was subtle enough that if Flash comes to Peter's immediate defense after his identity was revealed, it wouldn't seem like a strange 180 and disingenuous
Jake as Mysterio was awesome loved the film felt it was epic now not going to say it's the best SPIDEY film got to let it simmer for a bit but it's up there. Great review Collider crew, now when it comes to who I would want as Norman Osborn in the MCU give me Bryan Cranston, Alexander Skarsgard, Michael Fassbender, or James McAvoy as Pete's arch nemesis. I know Peter's identity being revealed will be huge for his journey and of course they will play with him being an outlaw vigilante for a while, but Spiderman has all of the remaining Avengers, SHIELD and Wakanda on his side. Of course there will still be doubts, but I'm sure his allies can help him reveal the truth and regain everyone's trust. Do you think that even with a few years' gap before the next movie that he'll still be considered a vigilante, even when the heroes could have helped clear things up? What could stop them from doing so? It will be an interesting Phase 4!
Those illusion gave me goosebumps. I felt like I was watching a video game cutscene from back in the days spiderman games in all the good ways. It was like "now, this is f*cking Mysterio". Totally worth the ticket.
It’s funny. No one caught when Scrull Nick Fury says when Peter brings up Captain Marvel “Don’t invoke her name,” After the reveal that Nick and Maria are Scrulls, I said to myself “That makes sense now,” seeing as she is seen as a savior of sorts to the Scrulls.
I always had doubts about Mysterio but they tipped their hat as soon as Peter met Quentin. He claims they are in the 616 universe, which is the main comic universe number not the MCU universe number.
I can't wait for the next Spider-Man movie because after the way far from home ended where do you go from there as far as Spider-Mans story I guess we'll just have to wait and see

I think Mysterio was the team itself and not just Quintin. Quintin was the actor that carried out the ideals of the entire group. So Mysterio still lives and may return.
What I loved, and you guys didn’t get a chance to talk about, is him developing his Spidey Senses aka peter tingle! I really like how they addressed it. Though, I’m old school and would love to see a visual or audio representation like some squiggly lines coming from his head. I think this movie really answers why he didn’t seem to have it in prior movies, though to an extent he had it on the bus in Endgame.
There were a number of elements in this movie that were very well done. I enjoyed it very much, however, I am not satisfied with the mid-credit scene. My issue is this, outside of the fantastical elements of the superhero's basically speaking the MCU does operate within our world and our rules. With that in mind, a "news" site, Putting a minor in harm's way as they did by putting publicly outing Peter Parker's would have dire legal consequences. It is too easy to verify the footage compiled and presented to their website was altered. Not to mention Stark Industries have records of who Quentin Beck is as well as there being an entire class of MIT graduates and others that have seen that illusion tech before. In my mind, Stark Industries (or whatever Pepper is calling the business) should expose the alterations of the video, as well as provide proof of Beck's this world identity and help May sue the Bugle out of existence due to libel and slander (assuming they posted JJ's response on their website). All while being able to avoid addressing the truth of Peter being Spiderman, alternatively have a Skrull impersonate Peter and have the two of them interact together in public.
I thought end end credits scene was awesome because now SWORD is now in MCU and this makes perfect sense after alien invasion in infinity war....and gone are days of SHIELD because now we will get even more space stuff

This movie was perfect. Tom Holland is the Spider-Man I grew up reading as a kid and watching with the 90s cartoon. Tom Holland’s first movie was my favourite Spider-Man movie and now Far From Home is number 1. Those post credit scenes were beyond epic.
For years, I've been thinking that Marvel made a smart choice by not showing Uncle Ben, but giving the audience enough reference to know this Peter had tragedy in his life before meeting Tony. Remember his first conversation with Tony in Civil War. He says something about when you don't do anything, "the bad things happen." That's him talking about his Uncle Ben without saying it. I'm wondering now if the Ben character wasn't included in the Sony deal (only certain characters were). It seems odd, but it's possible. I'm almost sure that's why "MJ" is Michelle Jones instead of Mary Jane. Either way, Ben is still a driving force in Peter's decision to become a hero. Exploring that onscreen would have changed the tone and pace of either Homecoming / Far From Home in a way that I think would have been heavy handed.
Can someone explain to me how it makes sense that someone like Quentin Beck doesn't get screened or recognized as a former employee of Tony Stark and creator of BARF ? Makes no sense to me.

I thought that was what he did it for when I saw the end (mid-credits scene) but I haven't seen anyone else bring it up but you.
Never saw it coming? literally everyone who knows the Mysterio character predicted the twist after the very first trailer showed him as a hero.
A few people were grasping at straws that maybe the multiverse was real because one time in the comics he had a multiverse storyline... but at he's core the character is an illusionist that tricks people into thinking he's a hero, you don't do the first live action version of that character without that aspect.

I didn’t like Homecoming like most people do, but Far from home worked for me. The action sequence of Spider-Man FFH was very original, the abandoned building illusion sequence was glorious. A very smart movie with a clear social commentary of the sate of our society with its fake news.

The romance between MJ/Peter was awkward, but it was a cute awkward. Totally believable and really enjoyed how the romance was used in this film. Definitely a movie I loved and a fantastic MCU addition. The fights as well, I mean, what more could you ask for?

One of my friends wanted us to leave before the end credit scenes.
I tried to explain that the scenes were important, but she just replied: "Important to you."
She then told me and another friend that we were "the only ones who sit through the end credits in movies" as if we were doing something abnormal. She was an annoying know-it-all type.
We later found out that she's been skipping all the marvel end-credit scenes for the last 10 years; thinking they were no big deal.

The illusion scene in the empty building is really cool and the best one... But i kinda think it would be better if they didnt show how beck did it with the drones before that scene.

Favorite single line in the movie "You'll never live up to tony. Tony didn't live up to tony, he was a mess". It's true, and it spoke to so much in Peter's story, as well as this franchise, about living up to the perfect man who never actually existed. Tony learned early on that he was his own man "we are not soldiers", his line in the original Avengers was a perfect embodiment of his character, and this lesson. No one can be anyone else, they can only try to be the best version of themselves

This version of Mysterio felt like an amalgamation of a former Stark Employee Gary Gilbert with Quentin Beck having similar qualities to Gilbert but they still retain his profession of a special effects wizard who works in the movie industry. The illusion casting with the drones that are being controlled by Edith was pretty great. Seeing the drones creating all the different elementals was awesome. Also the character of Dimitri being a mystery is nicely saved because he is definitely going to be Chameleon for a future sequel. I think they could introduce his brother Kraven in the threequel. The way Quentin Beck creates his allusion, controlling precisely was perfect.

Mysterio turning was super obvious to true spidey fans but I loved my theatres reaction because I was happy it wasn’t spoiled for my friends. It was literally the perfect film representation of what I’d read in the comics growing up and even the 90s cartoon which is still one of the best. And just because it was obvious it doesn’t take away from how well it was written, that’s what makes this rendition of Spider-Man so perfect.
The guy took all the footage away at the end how did everyone forget this. Clearly this is a set up with like Oscorp and the Sinister Six. Beck was a pawn at the end with the doctored footage imo

Far From Home is an impressive film, and I walked away having witnessed completely new things in a Spiderman movie.
Highs:
-all the Tony Stark memorials
-setting locations (so refreshing to be outside of NYC)
-Mysterio character and fight scenes
Lows:
-some CGI was wonky, but not terrible
-Wish Ned was a little more involved, but he was hilarious in the bit.
Overall, I’m really happy with this movie as an MCU fan. I’m really looking forward to the future; those end credits were amazing. Jonah Jameson!

I know I can't be the only one that feels like that scene at the end with Flash leaving the airport foreshadowing to something.
I thought it was interesting that Flash sort of defended Peter when it came to Brad and the photo when Peter wasn't there. Like it wasn't an outright a defense but he could have easily jumped on Brad's side to embarrass Peter. Instead he was like "bro not cool" when it was about taking photos in bathrooms. It wasn't much but I think it was subtle enough that if Flash comes to Peter's immediate defense after his identity was revealed, it wouldn't seem like a strange 180 and disingenuous
Jake as Mysterio was awesome loved the film felt it was epic now not going to say it's the best SPIDEY film got to let it simmer for a bit but it's up there. Great review Collider crew, now when it comes to who I would want as Norman Osborn in the MCU give me Bryan Cranston, Alexander Skarsgard, Michael Fassbender, or James McAvoy as Pete's arch nemesis. I know Peter's identity being revealed will be huge for his journey and of course they will play with him being an outlaw vigilante for a while, but Spiderman has all of the remaining Avengers, SHIELD and Wakanda on his side. Of course there will still be doubts, but I'm sure his allies can help him reveal the truth and regain everyone's trust. Do you think that even with a few years' gap before the next movie that he'll still be considered a vigilante, even when the heroes could have helped clear things up? What could stop them from doing so? It will be an interesting Phase 4!

I think Mysterio was the team itself and not just Quintin. Quintin was the actor that carried out the ideals of the entire group. So Mysterio still lives and may return.

What I loved, and you guys didn’t get a chance to talk about, is him developing his Spidey Senses aka peter tingle! I really like how they addressed it. Though, I’m old school and would love to see a visual or audio representation like some squiggly lines coming from his head. I think this movie really answers why he didn’t seem to have it in prior movies, though to an extent he had it on the bus in Endgame.
There were a number of elements in this movie that were very well done. I enjoyed it very much, however, I am not satisfied with the mid-credit scene. My issue is this, outside of the fantastical elements of the superhero's basically speaking the MCU does operate within our world and our rules. With that in mind, a "news" site, Putting a minor in harm's way as they did by putting publicly outing Peter Parker's would have dire legal consequences. It is too easy to verify the footage compiled and presented to their website was altered. Not to mention Stark Industries have records of who Quentin Beck is as well as there being an entire class of MIT graduates and others that have seen that illusion tech before. In my mind, Stark Industries (or whatever Pepper is calling the business) should expose the alterations of the video, as well as provide proof of Beck's this world identity and help May sue the Bugle out of existence due to libel and slander (assuming they posted JJ's response on their website). All while being able to avoid addressing the truth of Peter being Spiderman, alternatively have a Skrull impersonate Peter and have the two of them interact together in public.
I thought end end credits scene was awesome because now SWORD is now in MCU and this makes perfect sense after alien invasion in infinity war....and gone are days of SHIELD because now we will get even more space stuff
We need a 30 minute review/discussion just for those after credits cause.... woah!

For years, I've been thinking that Marvel made a smart choice by not showing Uncle Ben, but giving the audience enough reference to know this Peter had tragedy in his life before meeting Tony. Remember his first conversation with Tony in Civil War. He says something about when you don't do anything, "the bad things happen." That's him talking about his Uncle Ben without saying it.
I'm wondering now if the Ben character wasn't included in the Sony deal (only certain characters were). It seems odd, but it's possible. I'm almost sure that's why "MJ" is Michelle Jones instead of Mary Jane.
Either way, Ben is still a driving force in Peter's decision to become a hero. Exploring that onscreen would have changed the tone and pace of either Homecoming / Far From Home in a way that I think would have been heavy handed.
