Great job doing the comparison between both Soundbok2 & 3gen ! The 2gen has a higher decibel vocal sound and crisp bass as the 3gen lowered decibel levels to produce more deep bass, reducing the blown out eardrum effect. They both sound great in an indoor investment like a banquet hall or large room ! I found using the 2gen for mosh pit/ hard rock people loved it, and I even had speaker huggers lol And using 3gen playing Debstep or rap gave it the right amount of bass needed without its high vocal decibel levels. Using them both together 2gen lower value and the 3gen at a higher level, the sound is phenomenal ! Great outdoor video !
It's hard to explain the feeling but at 23.00 seeing that rain falling on the speakers and the beautiful background just F...S me up. I feel to cry. The memories of rainy days are just like they used to be right here in this video. You would think those feelings go away with age and don't come back but apparently not. Somehow it's linked directly to my past memories. Spiritually interesting. Now I shell pull myself back together and please don't start with. I feel to pee..... Cheers.
Soundboks 3 is overall better with build quality and sound. I have heard that the soundboks 2 has better/punchier bass which would seem reasonable since both of it's 10 inch subs are dedicated to low end while the soundboks 3 is a 2.5 way system so one 10 inch does mids and lows while one does lows only. The app for sb3 is amazing for sure with it's different sound modes as well as wirelessly changing volume and other features.
That’s great info, had no idea that the breakdown of sound was like that. The difference of the sound profiles of the 2 make so much more sense now. This can really be informative when picking between the 2 once you consider what type of music you listen to. Where did you learn about this?

@@ryanwilkins6171 if u just want to be able to have one speaker and you don’t plan on getting more later, then definitely soundboks 2. However if you want stereo mode by getting a second soundboks or you want to be able to connect more speakers via the aux out, then think about the soundboks 3. Just know the upper bass is pushed pretty hard. Something I noted the in the video to consider though is that the mids sound a bit more natural on the soundboks 3 so for indoor listening that is nice. What are the main environments you see yourself using this speaker in?

after seeing this vid I'm hooked on the sound box 2. Bought one and just love it. All my friends love it and I take it where ever I go. All my friends live in the country and they all want to borrow it and I'm like buy your own this one is mine. Again thanks for comparing much appreciated. And my samsung phone has a built in eq that just brings it full circle really awesome on this new tec. But the 3 sounds better at high volume but don't want to wear ear plugs to experience the better sound

If it’s mainly for indoor, I might consider the SB 3 instead. The SB 2 sounds sort of harsh indoors. Is this for indoor parties mainly? If just for casual listening, then Exos 9 or JBL party box prob better for that. SB is pretty overkill unless you have a pretty big indoor area.
You do not have to change anything on the design of the Soundboks it is perfect and well made, it is the best looking Bluetooth speaker box in the world right now, and quality of the build is sublime, you just need to make it bigger with a bigger battery, and give it a lot moe power, and with 2,15 inch bass speaker in one box that would give it a new look I read some of the comment of what people are saying about the Soundboks and you do have people that say when they play it with another system that the other system have more heavier deeper rounder bass with the two 15 inch bass speakers you would not compromise the sound and the quality of the sound, and you would give people a new choices, and the weight of the soundboks would not matter a heavier sounding soundboks 4 would win over a lot of new people, and if that was available right now I would get one straight away, even though I have the soundboks 3 already, and do not rest on your laurels, and If I have the equipment I would build one tomorrow

Great questions. So I’ve used the SB 2 on it’s side and it’s been fine. I have not tried the SB 3 on it’s side, but presumably it would be good because there is another side for air to flow out of. So based on the design, I’d say yes. On the second question Rock music is prob a different case because I listen to more rap and EDM. I dont think rock sounds as good on the SB 2 as other bass heavy music does. I kept my SB 2 and returned my SB 3, but because of the nature of rock music where you don’t want overly harsh highs and you want more of an upper mid bass kick, I think rock would sound superior on the SB3.
I remember talking with you about these speakers and that led me to get the sb3… which I’ve had for almost a year.. and now it kind of like blew up… my battery stopped and my speaker won’t go over 45% volume without a horrible sound.. very disappointed and looking into the JBL 710..
Oh boy that’s annoying. First off I would contact soundboks as you should have at least a year warranty I believe. Second, if they can’t help, then you may want to look into getting a new battery. I’m guessing the reason it won’t play over 45% now is because you are trying to play it plugged in. Is that right? It’s not supposed to go over 50% when plugged in. The 710 is amazing, but it is twice as heavy, larger and not battery powered. So if you don’t really need to move the 710 much and you just use for your backyard, then yes it’s a good option. Also, the soundboks 2 is back in stock for $699. Plus you’d have a battery if you wanted to use your SB3. it does not sound good in small areas, it needs an open area to breathe. I've turned it on in the car before and it's very harsh/not enjoyable. Outside, it's incredible.
Hey thanks for this review. I am trying to figure out which one to get. I will only be playing outside but I’ve heard some complaints about the bass on the sb3, is the bass outside on the 2 more boomy and can feel it more? Similar to a sub I guess
If you are only playing outside and you only plan on getting one speaker, then I’d go for the SB2 as the lower bass is more pronounced without the upper bass distraction.

It depends on what you will be mainly using this for. Will you be mainly outdoors with this? Also do you ever plan on using more than one speaker in your setup? If u plan to have more than one speaker eventually, probably the SB 3 because of its connectivity options. If you think you’ll use a single speaker only, then SB 2. Soundboks You need to be very innovative that you can stay ahead, you need to make the Soundboks with the same design and component, the only change you just need to make to it is to make it taller wider and more powerful then before, you already have all the component in hand already, You just need the two 15 inch bass speaker and the midrange speaker, and a bigger battery, and give it more power also, and do not worry about the weight on how heavy it is, and how tall and wide it is, You just make it there is a big market out there for it, people like looking for something different and new, so make it with the same three speaker but bigger bass speaker 2,15 inch bass speaker and the midrange speaker, all you do is to make two prototype to test the people on how they feel that way you would have a better idea and if the market is ready Soundboks you do not have nothing at all to lose you have all the parts already you just need the courage to test the on known, I would be very disappointed if you are not brave enough to go ahead with a new bigger and more powerful Soundboks 4 we are all waiting.
Very harsh on the soundboks 2 if you are indoors. However the more open environment you’re in outdoors the less harsh it is. If you have an open area outdoors then it works great. The soundboks 3 is prob not as harsh. In terms of bass, neither has any distortion even at blow your face off levels. However the SB3 sounds a bit more boomy due to more peaks on the upper bass.
Yes. The upper bass starts kicking in once u move from indoor mode to power mode. Once you move from power mode to bass+ mode the lower bass is enhanced more along with the upper bass. Because the lower bass is missing though with power mode you notice the upper bass just as much. So either way you get that boxy sound. You’ll certainly be able to hear it though from a long distance which most speakers can’t do.
Yes biggest update is bass + mode. Mode with much more deep bass and drains battery quicker. I think this suddenly makes this product a viable purchase.
Id imagine the sound comparison with the bass+ you would get a lower voice sound in comparison to the bass turned off. You should do a comparison with the bass+ turned off and see who's louder
Yeah the benefit is being able to connect up to five speakers... the downfall is if you're wanting to get five speakers well that's $5,000. So maybe the upside is yes they're Wireless but can someone tell me other than their Wireless how these would be better than an actual PA system? I mean I know you can't just bring a PA system out in the middle of nowhere but I want to know if there's more Pros about the soundboks 3 then there is cons
Yes a good quality PA system with a sub will be better, but not portable. It’s just these are water resistant and have better quality sound than many PA speakers without a sub. Obviously if ur getting QSC speakers with a generator then you could do better, but it’s not an all in one solution like the soundboks is.

Don’t have partybox 300/310. From what I know about power, it will not have as much bass at high volume, but at low to mid levels probably has the same amount. For indoor listening, I would bet the partybox 300 would be slightly better.
i had SB2 and currently i have Partybox 310, i can say that SB2 is louder and better in outdoors use but PB310 sounds better and it has more deep bass at low and mid volume.

The sound doesn’t travel really far, but it proved to be ideal in public parks to throw small DJ sets for ourselves without disturbing others. The sound quality is great and it has deep bass, I just wished the battery would last a tad longer at high volume. How does the bass compare at louder volume?

@@sonny9546 that seems right. I have the party box 100 and it sounds much better to me at low to mid levels with cleaner bass. Just can’t even get close to the volume of the soundboks and loses the bass at higher volumes as well.
Both sound good on the ground. I think the SB3 would prob sound better on a speaker stand due to the heavy upper bass. In terms of reverb, I don’t notice any, but guess it would depend on the environment you were in. If ur talking about connecting a mic, I have not tried that.
If you plan on just getting 1 soundboks, I would go for the SB2. Unless you listen mainly to rock music, since the mids on the SB2 are not as prominent as the SB3. For anything else, the upper bass on the SB3 is just too annoying for me.
Short answer is roughly the same. They just emphasize different things. The PB710 is just barely louder than these other 2 overall. The soundboks 3 has more prominent mids so you may get it a little louder with rock music, but not by much.

If you want something with dual 15" buy JBL JRX225 or similar. But dual 15" speakers are not the best configuration to get a good bass, a 3-way system with a real subwoofer will always be better
If i charge soundboks 3 with 200wattage electric generator while playing music, will soundboks still charge battery while playing music at maximum capacity? because i heard soundboks 3 charger is 1.2Amp charger so 110voltage(USA) × 1.2AMP = 132 watts so i can charge with my mini electric 200wattage sine wave generator to charge and top it off and when the generator dies then i can switch to battery only so battery 3hr + generator for about extra 2 hours so = total of 5 hours? Heard the speaker weighs a lot more though. You can carry soundboks with one hand across rough terrain. Not sure how battery compares, but soundboks will last for a full day at close to full volume.
So the main thing I heard that was done for an update (2020) was that the extra bass mode. This is definitely needed to compete with the soundboks 2 bass wise. The mids on the soundboks 3 sound better to me, but the bass on the SB 3 is too high for my ears as I say in the vid. I would say unless you mainly listen to rock music, then soundboks 2 sounds better outside at least as a stand alone speaker.

No it doesn't I'm listening to this video on the logitech z5500 sound boks 3 has way more bass
Im personal more a fan of the soundboks 2, I like the extra bass
The bass at lower frequencies is there on the SB 3 as well, it’s just drowned out a bit by the upper bass. The soundboks 2 doesn’t do that.

3 is just slightly higher than 2 and a bit cleaner sounding but quite close.
When you say higher what are you referring to? Loudness is about the same.

Yes you can play while plugged in while charging the battery or not even use the battery. If just getting one speaker I’d go for the SB2.
BOSE S1 PRO is a better speaker. Quality is much better and its cheaper.

It depends on what you will be mainly using this for. Will you be mainly outdoors with this? Also do you ever plan on using more than one speaker in your setup? If u plan to have more than one speaker eventually, probably the SB 3 because of its connectivity options. If you think you’ll use a single speaker only, then SB 2. Note that the mids and treble on the SB 3 sound a bit better indoors than the SB 2.

Very harsh on the soundboks 2 if you are indoors. However the more open environment you’re in outdoors the less harsh it is. If you have an open area outdoors then it works great. The soundboks 3 is prob not as harsh. In terms of bass, neither has any distortion even at blow your face off levels. However the SB3 sounds a bit more boomy due to more peaks on the upper bass.
Id buy one but the rainbow 🌈 stickers in the box are a turn off

Yes. The upper bass starts kicking in once u move from indoor mode to power mode. Once you move from power mode to bass+ mode the lower bass is enhanced more along with the upper bass. Because the lower bass is missing though with power mode you notice the upper bass just as much. So either way you get that boxy sound. You’ll certainly be able to hear it though from a long distance which most speakers can’t do.
So for outdoor use mainly you would recomend the 2 right ?

Yes biggest update is bass + mode. Mode with much more deep bass and drains battery quicker. I think this suddenly makes this product a viable purchase.
Id imagine the sound comparison with the bass+ you would get a lower voice sound in comparison to the bass turned off. You should do a comparison with the bass+ turned off and see who's louder
Yeah the benefit is being able to connect up to five speakers... the downfall is if you're wanting to get five speakers well that's $5,000. So maybe the upside is yes they're Wireless but can someone tell me other than their Wireless how these would be better than an actual PA system? Yes a good quality PA system with a sub will be better, but not portable. It’s just these are water resistant and have better quality sound than many PA speakers without a sub. Obviously if ur getting QSC speakers with a generator then you could do better, but it’s not an all in one solution like the soundboks is.

Hey thank you very much for this informative video but i still cant decide… I just listen to Uptempo and Hardcore (very fast electronic music with a lot of bass) and so the sb2 seems to be perfect for me, but the problem is, that it isnt available anymore.
The sb3 would just be an option, if the new app would make it possible to programm the sb3 with the same ammount of bass like the sb2.

How do the Soundboks 2 compare to a JBL PartyBox 300 / 310? I know it is much louder, but I've heard it had less bass, even outdoor.
Don’t have partybox 300/310. From what I know about power, it will not have as much bass at high volume, but at low to mid levels probably has the same amount. For indoor listening, I would bet the partybox 300 would be slightly better.
i had SB2 and currently i have Partybox 310, i can say that SB2 is louder and better in outdoors use but PB310 sounds better and it has more deep bass at low and mid volume.

The sound doesn’t travel really far, but it proved to be ideal in public parks to throw small DJ sets for ourselves without disturbing others. Both sound good on the ground. I think the SB3 would prob sound better on a speaker stand due to the heavy upper bass. In terms of reverb, I don’t notice any, but guess it would depend on the environment you were in. If ur talking about connecting a mic, I have not tried that.

If you plan on just getting 1 soundboks, I would go for the SB2. Unless you listen mainly to rock music, since the mids on the SB2 are not as prominent as the SB3. For anything else, the upper bass on the SB3 is just too annoying for me.

Short answer is roughly the same. They just emphasize different things. The PB710 is just barely louder than these other 2 overall. The soundboks 3 has more prominent mids so you may get it a little louder with rock music, but not by much.

If you want something with dual 15" buy JBL JRX225 or similar.
But dual 15" speakers are not the best configuration to get a good bass, a 3-way system with a real subwoofer will always be better
If i charge soundboks 3 with 200wattage electric generator while playing music, will soundboks still charge battery while playing music at maximum capacity?
because i heard soundboks 3 charger is 1.2Amp charger
so 110voltage(USA) × 1.2AMP = 132 watts
so i can charge with my mini electric 200wattage sine wave generator to charge and top it off and when the generator dies then i can switch to battery only so

Heard the speaker weighs a lot more though. You can carry soundboks with one hand across rough terrain. Not sure how battery compares, but soundboks will last for a full day at close to full volume.

So the main thing I heard that was done for an update (2020) was that the extra bass mode. This is definitely needed to compete with the soundboks 2 bass wise. The mids on the soundboks 3 sound better to me, but the bass on the SB 3 is too high for my ears as I say in the vid. I would say unless you mainly listen to rock music, then soundboks 2 sounds better outside at least as a stand alone speaker.
