The R3 actually had a fully built and tested prototype. It was not a mock up. But that being said, yeah, it is silly having an armoured recon vehicle built in the 1980s, that is faster than any other vehicle in the game, and equipped with a stabilised autocannon, thrown into 4.3 (originally 3.3) fighting nothing but World War 2 tanks. This thing should have been placed at 7.0 at least.

It's one of the fastest vehicles in the game, and only comes close to matching other vehicle around that BR. Also historically, the R3 T20 was a "reconnaissance vehicle", which is by definition a vehicle made for scouting. I want the R3 to play the way it was designed to be, that being a reconnaissance vehicle, but Gaijin instead decided to make this weird pseudo-SPAA meme car from the future that functions more like a speedy tank destroyer than an actual SPAA, and nothing like it was originally designed to be.

Weird, when i play it and get ambushed by tanks while hunting planes the gun never pens, not even when shooting open topped spg's in the rear. Is there any way to penetrate tanks like in this video? Because boy i get salty when im murdered by a bunch of t-34 while looking up for planes like a dumbass
Do 34s ambush you in close quarters? If so, you might want to decrease your engine volume and increase other players' engine volume in settings. If they get you from far away - try to stay away from obvious hiding spots, use your mobility to get to unexpected places (I've been killed a lot by R3s and EBRs hiding in plain sight behind a pile of rubble, behind a bush, behind some rock high on the hill etc). In general, getting higher than your opponents' visibility cones can reach is an easy way to get kills. If you want to hunt tanks - stick to areas of dense vegetation to stay away from planes, you might also want to stay in shadow of buildings (I've destroyed other tanks and been destroyed myself this way, you can hide a panther in a sufficiently large shadow), although this works only on not-so-vigilant players.
best vehicle in the entire game, its the only one i enjoy and i dont get stressed when i die because i know im the actual devil. best part is when you kill heavy tanks, nothing more satisfactory than a dead kv1.
Unlocked this thing couple of days ago. For the first I’m actually having fun in this game. Though it gets pretty boring after a while, time to grind Sweden I guess
War of Thunder basically turns into a point-and-click adventure game when you play as the R3. You just have to find a bush or a street corner and ambush unsuspecting players.

Theyll get a few kills on unaware players, then get swatted. Shitters complaining about something fast and annoying, much like when the M18 was introduced.

If you fools that didn’t even try playing with the damn thing keep on telling it’s op, check the maps munitions plays in. He gets an average of 1.2-1.3 kills every match. Don’t forget that munitions is way above the average player. Almost every kill he gets, he gets it in a different map, meaning he got them in a different game. He probably died a lot too, he wouldn’t put those in because the video is supposed to be criticizing gaijin like everyone else already isn’t. “Ohhh this thing can kill leopards!” Yeah, it can, because modern mbts have very different armor configurations compared to the past. Try the IS-3 for example, it can’t pen it. Saying this vehicle is overpowered won’t fix shit and you all know it. Don’t be so similar to everyone else. Don’t be sayin somethin cause everyone else is sayin it. R3 isn’t anything near OP in its current state. Learn gaijins technique first. While I agree on the R3 T20 not being able to kill heavies and cold war mediums, you can still murk enemy tanks if you aim at the right pressure point. And if you're destined to die anyways, take out the enemy's tracks or barrel, and make them your team's ez prey. Remember that it's a lovely day and that you'll be shiny and chrome.

Depends on the ammo type, look at the pen values of the ammo when you choose it
