We need to know
It is important to know what the types of crime are. For example, burglary is/was largely the preserve of white British working class males. It was useful for the Government and Police to know this as it helped shape crime fighting practices and a system of penalties for the associated offences. Why therefore would the same exercise not be carried out for migrant crime? If, as a society we do not rise to new challenges we will end up with a society that is unprepared for new crime types. Publish and be damned I say!

The civil service needs reform and the way to do it, is to have a rotation system of the civil service. Next government gets to put in its own civil service. Freedom of Information Act doesn't mean anything to them then?? Someone somewhere collates these statistics and there will be teams/committees who are provided with that information. The fact they want to challenge it makes it absolutely clear there is a problem.
