I been aware of this brand from when it launched. they said they created to have glass skin . then Heyley Bibier created Rhode and Skims. so then they changed their reasons for creating the brand. Now they are saying that is aimed at Hyperpigmentation, she could not find a suitable cream for her when she was you g, black bla bla. she said its frustrating because when they were in.lockdwn no brand like theirs axisted. they wanted to create ageless, genderless products..I think they got pushed by Rhodes and Skims and now they are saying that is for black.people. I wish them lots of luck
Absolutely love that they talked about who is farming the ingredients and that they're learning from farmers and working WITH them to make sure they have safe working conditions. I would be so happy to see more brands doing this. I've never done farming but have done labor/factory jobs and it can be incredibly unsafe and thankless. So I can't even imagine the conditions that people go through to farm ingredients. Like Sabrina said, some of them are dying. And it's the truth. Also talking about what melanin is and how hyper pigmentation can happen to anyone is a great point. So many good things stood out in this interview so thank you for talking to them in depth!
This just shows how far you've come James. You've become such a skincare staple that even celebrities launching a brand know its great for them to come on your channel. Most importantly its amazing that you've given a brand that does seem to be different than others a platform. ❤
The fact they went to a skincare influencer with honesty & integrity (yes, you James😊) speaks a lot of themselves, brand name, and the direction they’re going Thank you always James, you really look after us through your videos. ❤
I loooooove this so much, especially their mindset with hyperpigmentation. Even if it shows up differently on different skin tones we all are susceptible and it’s great they had that in mind when making these products!
I love how you asked the right questions. The way they smile is proof that they appreciate how spot on you are. No ridiculous questions, but interesting ones. The interview went smooth. And you helped them voice their brand 👏🏼
I’m usually not crazy about celebrities launching skincare brands but Idris and Sabrina clearly did their research and know what they’re doing. I love how much thought and care they put into their brand. I’d feel comfortable buying and trying their products! Great interview ❤
I LOVE that you had the chance to meet and chat with the Elba's You're really making you way, James, GREAT for you! So happy for you and SO GRATEFUL you shared your experience with us too! You're simply the best and MY skin GLOWS DAILY because of you and your HONEST opinions! Thanks for that! ❤
"I said yes to this interview for the points I'm about to discuss..." Um, a chance to interview Idris Elba? YES, PLEASE! Dude, kudos to you. I don't think I'd be able to close my mouth long enough to say a single word!! And Sabrina is lovely, too! 😂❤
They seem so unbelievably genuine and compassionate about what they do. I will definitely be getting some of their products! Thank you for the wonderful videos as usual and CONGRATULATIONS ON LANDING THIS INTERVIEW! I’m so insanely proud of you, James!! YAS!!!🎉❤
I don't even want to classify their skincare as "celebrity brand" because they seem so invested in absolutely every step. This was a great interview. Thank you for sharing!
I love sable lab skincare. I purchased it back in July last year when it first went on the market. I have all their products and it’s the only skincare I use now. EXCELLENT PRODUCTS! ❤
Happy Wednesday, James! This is way cool that you were able to spend time with them. Idris Elba was as chill as I’d expect him to be, but Sabrina Elba’s enthusiasm is so refreshing. I love that they care about every aspect of production, especially those who are harvesting their ingredients. This was awesome! 💖💜💖💜💖💜💖💜
No lie when I first saw this video I rolled my eyes. But along with watching and seeing the actual passion that they talked about really makes me interested in this brand now. 10/10
I love this interview. Definitely interested in Sable now. The ingredients I’ve actually seen before in specific products from Korean skincare lines, like baobab (mediheal) and ferulic acid (medicube). I was hoping to see more formulations and choices featuring these ingredients but didn’t see any.
I appreciate their transparency. I feel like they really did their research before embarking on this journey. I applaud you for asking real questions. I will be placing my order immediately. Condensed, effective and has a meaning.
My daughter, who can’t wear some foundation lines because they don’t go light enough, had a lot of break outs from face masks. For the first time she had a lot of hyperpigmentation from the healed areas. Took along time for it clear up. Nice to see a line that has ingredients that combat that included in everyday usage instead of a separate step.
There have been many wonderful small companies talking about and leading in fair trade for decades in skincare. Love that they are too, tho please give props to those who came before. Thrilled these are fragrance free & genderless. Baobab is a phenomenal ingredient for myriad uses. Love Idris - multi-talented!
Yay! I've been looking forward to this video and enjoyed watching it. 😊 It was so nice to hear Sabrina's knowledge and passion around skincare and Idris talk about bringing men more into the skincare world by not dumbing down ingredients in "man" targeted products. Congratulations on the interview! 🩷
This is incredible, I’m so happy this happened for you because you really put in all the work and do all the research, exciting to see it pay off! 🎉Thank you so much for always sharing your knowledge with us! 💜
This is an incredibly well-thought-out brand. I haven't been interested in new launches for a few years, but this sounds amazing. Nice one James! Thanks for sharing this on your channel. So proud of how far you've come!!! 💖
So happy you got to talk to them James! Supply chain and sourcing is so important and I'm always looking for brands that operate in this way. Also wonderful as someone with darker skin and constant hyper-pigmentation issues that it's one of their main focuses. Can't wait to try :)
This is such a good interview. Kudos to you for not asking them to be best friends because that's exactly what I would have done! The price point is more than I normally spend on skincare, but I may have to treat myself to this brand. I love everything they stand for and the practices they're promoting through this brand! I want to try the toner so bad and I love that they sell a refill!
IDRIS ELBA? SIR YOU ARE KILLING IT KEEP GOING! Edit: as a girl with tanned (brown Thai) skin the fact that they focus on hyperpigmentation for melanated skin 😭 I need to try this because I have hyperpigmentation that has been on my face for literally 4-5 years

I always discredited their line when I first heard about it, then once I actually came across an interview with Sabrina and dived deeper into it, I'm amazed. Currently doing a bit more research prior to purchasing. Love this video it's a go.
Excellent informative video James. I’m so pleased that you’re getting information out there that is not only great for skin, plus science backed, but also is very aware of environmental impacts, plus ethical issues. ❤
My ears perked up especially when Sabrina mentioned rosacea, this was a very interesting interview from the Elbas and i feel like their brand is genuinely tackling a problem whilst not oversaturating the market!
I am so inspired by their thoughtfulness and their entire company model. I just purchased the Discovery Kit and the Micellar Water to try a few of their products (bonus they are having an anniversary sale now).
I’ve noticed with the way they look at each other as well they’re so intently listening as the other one is talking which I find so endearing. And that they’re feeling a USP that is needed in the industry. On a sidenote every time when I hear about Idris Elba I can’t help but think about a friend’s mum who told me that her good friend used to date him years ago 😂 and she jokes saying that it should’ve been her and wish you went for it lmao.
There this saying I heard in a fitness video “youre doing yourself a disservice if you’re trying to lose 100lb by taking advice from someone who hasn’t lost 100lb” - I feel this way about skincare for those of us with deeper skin. Definitely gonna try this brand, Sable sounds beautiful
This has made my day, my week, my month and life 💕 How cool do they come across! I would have given anything to be in the room with the Elba’s and James Welsh
Rooibos aka 'Red Bush's it's a tea, the name comes from the colour ❤ really love the way you covered this! The Elba's are really admirable, such a wonderful approach to forming a responsible brand ❤
Okay, I know this wasn’t a sponsored video, but I fell in love with the Elba’s during the interview. Their/her passion and all the transparency feels like a breathe of fresh air. My skin leans more dry, but the cleaner and toner sound so interesting to me. I caved in and bought their kit to try them all out immediately after watching this!
I was watching this while doing my nighttime skincare ritual and trying to catch up your videos I missed while in hospital, awesome interview and I’m very curious about A-Beauty, the African continent has some amazing people and wonderful ingredients to discover in our skincare journey ✨💜✨
Rooibos is native to only ONE mountainous region in the Western Cape where all the rooibos farming are done. Literally, only the rooibos from the Cederberg region are deemed as "real" rooibos, since it can't grow elsewhere. And in South Africa a lot of South African skincare brands already incorporate rooibos into their products! Also! ngl for me what's going to set a celebrity skincare brand apart from the competition (American, European, Asian Beauty too) is pricing. When a celebrity launches skincare that costs less than $30, then I'll be really intrigued.
I'll be honest, this brand feels like it doesn't need to exist. I get that, especially years ago, a lot of skincare did not adress POC skins issues like PIH and there was definitely a hole in the market there. But nowadays there are sooooo many afforable hyperpigmentation products with at least 3 science backed actives in it that would be great for POC. I wish they would've taken another route and looked at making other products that are ACTUALLY lacking for POC, like tinted mineral sunscreens (for POC that can't use chemical filters), maybe sunscreens that provide better protection against super long UV waves and blue visible light (since those can cause more stubborn hyperpigmentation in POC). If they are not coming with innovative products for POC, then what do they bring to the table? Their products are so expensive that most POC are not going to be able to afford them. If you are not making it easier/cheaper for POC to get more effective hyperpigmentation products, and you are also not innovating the market by making products that POC actually have a hard time finding, then saying it's 'skincare for POC' just rings hollow..
No hate to them btw. They really seem like lovely people that really care and are involved in their brand. But.. I think if they really want to make a significant difference for POCs hyperpigmentation issues than this brand is missing the mark.
@@ifeifesi Their products are expensive, even for western standards. The large majority of POC live in the global south. And most of them, even in the middle class, cannnot afford this, because their countries have an incredibly weak currency compared to the west. So most of those people won't buy their products. Now, for the POC that can afford this (like me), why would we go for their products? There are already TONS of similar products on the market, targeting the same issues, usually for less money and more transpancy of active concentrations? Do POC really need more hyperpigmentation products on the market? This brand is bringing nothing to POC that is actually needed (like better sunscreen and stuff). Instead they just make the 6 millionth niacinamide/tranexamic acid product and say its for POC.
I need to try the Toner....but: my Skin is very uncomplicated, very healthy and nice looking - but more at the dryer Side....all this because of my very good selected Korean Skin-Care with a lot of your Help! Before I could use it I needed to find it, and there was YOU, who did this! ❤ ✌🏻🤗👏 Therefore a big 💖🥰THANK YOU🥰💖.... You did it - and I get it! The Results are amazing, I'm 68 Y. and my Skin is more fine, clear and glowing then the Skin and Look (of course without Make-Up !) of the Skin from much younger Women 🤗🥰 without many Wrinkles ❣️ But because of my "not oily" and more dry Skin: Do you think that the Toner etc. will work for me, too?
I love your channel, but I have one thing that I keep hearing, it is "Africa". Africa is a continent not a country. My family is from Algeria, situated in North Africa. It is not the same as Ivory coast, West Africa (where we lived for years). I wish we'd start referring to specific countries in Africa. So many different cultures and languages, plant species, animals, different issues, etc.. I looked at their website, it doesn't mention any countries, doesn't say where it's manufactured, etc.. The word "transparency " gets thrown around but I don't really see it reflected in their brand. Hate my comment, like my comment, I don't care. At the end of the day, until they really show us what they are doing, where and with who, they are still out there to make money.
Hey! Thanks! I believe Sabrina herself says in this interview that they are ingredients ‘found throughout the continent’ and that is what I mean when I say Africa too! But all valid and fair points!
Idris Elba looked like, "Yes, I too am here... toner? F*ck yeah the toner." *I wonder if there will ever be an effective, lightweight & don't-burn-your-eyes sunscreen toner. Can only dream.
He says within the first 30 seconds of the video that it isn’t sponsored, he isn’t being paid and the products are his own that he reviewed about a year ago. So no.
Oh Lord, how could you even speak while looking at him. I would just be giggling an blushing like 16 yr old while asking "why is she here" 😂 joking of course😉
I don't know, yes as a couple they do a lot of philanthropic work but at the end of the day, no matter how good their products are, they aren't adding anything new to the market. That's the problem with celebrity brands not just whether they have good formulations or a problematic founder. They are still a mega rich couple making money off of a company they are creating that adds nothing new to the market but does contribute to more pollution and packaging in land fills. Also, I take more issue with celebrities trying to make us believe they have been instrumental in every part of their production process by reciting lines about certain parts of the processes than if they were honest and actual said yes I am not a chemist. Yes, I am not a packaging designer. Yes, I'm not a marketing specialist. You simply approved these things. I have no personal issue with these two, they actually seem great. But let's be honest with ourselves, this brand is not unique, it is unnecessary, polluting, and a cash grab at the end of the day
@@ifeifesi constructive criticism is necessary for progress, I’m not attacking them so I don’t know why you’re getting so defensive. Everything I said remains true even if their packaging is recyclable and refillable, that may reduce the impact of their products but it does not completely offset it and they will continue to contribute to pollution and climate degradation, not unique to their brand for sure but the point remains
Very refreshing to hear brand owners talking so fired about THEIR OWN BRAND! Like you mentioned: "i forgot it was an interview" I loved that about this, it was a conversation about skincare ✌🏻🪷

You did it - and I get it! The Results are amazing, I'm 68 Y. and my Skin is more fine, clear and glowing then the Skin and Look (of course without Make-Up !) of the Skin from much younger Women 🤗🥰 without many Wrinkles ❣️
But because of my "not oily" and more dry Skin: Do you think that the Toner etc. will work for me, too?
At the end of the day, until they really show us what they are doing, where
and with who, they are still out there to make money.
Hey! Thanks! I believe Sabrina herself says in this interview that they are ingredients ‘found throughout the continent’ and that is what I mean when I say Africa too! But all valid and fair points!
Completely agree with your comment
So im basic. Help please 🥺 what order do you use these in?
Anyone else on "James Approved" train of thought?? Cause now I wanna try it
Idris Elba looked like, "Yes, I too am here... toner? F*ck yeah the toner."
*I wonder if there will ever be an effective, lightweight & don't-burn-your-eyes sunscreen toner. Can only dream.
Love this!
Yes James! 👏🏻❤
Hey James! I love your videos 🩵💜💛
I don’t think anyone has to explain why they would want to talk with Idris Elba.
😮 so jealous you met Idris Elba
A lot of the things that you don't seem to have heard of are things that often pop up in Black hair and body products.
Can you review John Legend skincare brand please.
Rooibos is pronounced roy-boss 😅. Loved this as an african
Now that's a couple I'd go 🍍🍍🍍 for
I have Idris Elbas Microwave for some weird reason
I mean uh I’d buy Idris’ sweat at this point lmao
Is this an ad? I haven’t seen ad disclosed anywhere? But it feels like an ad
He says within the first 30 seconds of the video that it isn’t sponsored, he isn’t being paid and the products are his own that he reviewed about a year ago. So no.
Never mind me, just falling in to a deep depression/downward spiral because he’s married to someone that is not me 😭🤣🤣
Oh Lord, how could you even speak while looking at him. I would just be giggling an blushing like 16 yr old while asking "why is she here" 😂 joking of course😉

It’s probably expensive so good for them. I will stick with affordable and effective.
But let's be honest with ourselves, this brand is not unique, it is unnecessary, polluting, and a cash grab at the end of the day
This!
All their packaging is recyclable & refillable but carry on with your criticism
@@ifeifesi constructive criticism is necessary for progress, I’m not attacking them so I don’t know why you’re getting so defensive. Everything I said remains true even if their packaging is recyclable and refillable, that may reduce the impact of their products but it does not completely offset it and they will continue to contribute to pollution and climate degradation, not unique to their brand for sure but the point remains

Very refreshing to hear brand owners talking so fired about THEIR OWN BRAND! Like you mentioned: "i forgot it was an interview"
I loved that about this, it was a conversation about skincare
