The grenade arc you mention is easily explained. These guys aren't spartans. They simply don't throw the grenade with the same force like the Chief or other Spartans do.
The grenades arc straighter and go further than in Halo 3 it would mean the ODSTs are stronger to do that. Not easily explained it's just a strange quirk of the game.
@@Lin_Eileen the ODST throws the grenade with a higher release. The grenade arcs upwards since they lob it when they throw it. Spartans release the grenade a little lower on the throw so it goes straighter. But it has a lot more speed when it’s thrown. The ODST grenade goes farther when looking straight ahead because of the high arc, but it won’t go as far when you look upwards when you throw. The ODST throw actually isn’t as strong as the Spartans in the game. Now the detached turret movement speed on the other hand, that’s a different story lol
6:22 was when I realized that I am no longer a noob at Halo anymore because in the previous games I've headshotted covenant not only in turrets but in far more difficult locations. Thanks Hokie
That's ironic. You started uploading this walkthrough on the same day that I started playing ODST, which I haven't touched in about 2 years. I just felt like playing it again. Also, at 7:15, you mentioned how snipers have been nerfed and have terrible aim. I'd say I've played through that part of the mission about 5 times because the snipers would always rapidly snipe me twice, killing me in less than a second. (Now I can get through them easily just by baiting their shots and popping in and out of cover.)
Shielded enemies didn't get a buff, they're roughly the same as Halo 3, the AR definitely got a nerf. I looked it up on the wiki after Hokie mentioned it and it turns out the AR in ODST does 50% less damage to both health AND shields. Laaaaaame.
SPARTAN armor is emp proof besides the shields but not ODST or marine BDUs. I wish Bungie made ur HUD short-out (except for the screen reddening when you lose stamina) when power drains were lobbed at you in ODSTs
Yeah, at least Jackals using overcharges make sense given that they would probably burn straight through unshielded armour... and probably the skin under it.
@Billy Bob I like to think it's because the beam rifle causes a brief armor malfunction that breaks the neck or back of the spartan inside it. So chief isnt getting domed by sniper jackals or being penetrated by plasma, but his spinal chord is getting severed by displaced vertebrae and dying instantly.
Thanks, because of these guides, I have changed the way I play Halo. Just so you know, the reason why grenades are strangely thrown in this game is that it throws it to where you are looking, it arcs it by itself
At 4:45 he shows where to grab some pistol ammo. In the video he’s on floor 2. In the MCC I found it directly above this location on floor 3 after grabbing the health pack. Just walk around the corner to the right after grabbing the health he mentions on floor 3 and you should see the pistol on the ground. So that may be where it is physically located in this version as well. I just couldn’t grab it down on floor 2.
The difficulty of the game would have been a total joke aha. The ODST campaign was already laughably easy, and the br would have made it pretty easy to pick off the brutes at range. The ODST pistol is total ass at killing brutes, which encourages you to find carbines
It's running on the same game engine as Halo 3, so it's basically just expensive DLC for Halo 3. That's not to say it didn't justify the cost however, as I think it certainly provided enough content, but it really is an expansion on what Halo 3 offered, even if the story line itself occurs before Halo 3. It even included Halo 3's complete multiplayer, so calling it Halo 2 would be misleading.
You're a great halo youtuber, you get a lot of views for the amount of subs you have. Some youtubers who have 15,000 subs barely even break 1k views. Keep it up these vids are great
I'm not entirely sure if I've said this already, but I have found out why the Halo 3: ODST Assault Rifle is so ineffective. For whatever reason, Bungie decided to reduce the damage each bullet in the 32-round magazine of the AR deals by 50%. It's strange, considering how useful it was (and still is) against the Brute's Power Armor in Halo 3. Also, the Brute Plasma Rifle is simply a reskin of the Halo 3 Plasma Rifle, but made to look like the Brute Plasma Rifle. Once again, another unexpected change.
Hokie I discovered that when you get to the part where the second pile of elites are, if you go across on the bridge right, you will find a full beam rifle to snipe some of the jackal marksman and snipers
+Brad Lovell Unfortunately, no. The Jackal Snipers pin you down well enough that you can't keep up with the Marines to protect them without getting yourself killed.
I am fairly sure it was the power armor buff, to make it seem like you were weaker as a normal human (With special operations training, mind you) instead of a power armored super soldier. Melee also does (or at least it seems to) less damage to brutes than in Halo 3.
I mean, I'd rather take an ODST than Halo 2 Master Chief. MC's superhuman ability is limited to cutscenes, other than that you never feel superhuman, least of all on Legendary.
HuffinDoback ' it’s a whole different situation. You’re still a badass super soldiers, right? You just fell from orbit and you have special armor. Sounds great, even though you’re all alone mostly.
I'm 7 years late to the party... BTW, when the mission starts, and you're an old guy like me, I like taking out as many grunts or similar opponents as possible because I don't have the gamer agility to dodge multiple shooters. So after some grunts hand deliver a plasma pistol and a needler, and I take them out, I stay on the platform and snipe as many grunts as possible. There's pistol ammo over on the left side plus another grenade. With a full pistol, then I jump down to go take out the Brute/s.
This is late but the assault rifle is still decent, the only reason it takes so long to kill brutes is the fact unlike Halo 3, all brutes have shields and their power armour, in Halo 3 only chieftains had shields.
The H2 SMG is exactly the same as the H:CE AR (MA5B), besides the fact that it can be dual wielded. The H3 AR (MA5C), existed, but like a lot of the stuff from H2, it was cut due to time constraints
A shotgun, wish I knew about that the first time. By the way, it's "Car-BEAN" not "Car-BYNE." The term refers to a short-barreled rifle like the M4 or the AKS-74u. The Covenant "Carbine" is actually used like a Battle rifle such as the M1 Garand, M14 EBR, or the FN SCAR L. If you know Call of Duty, these names are all familiar to you.
Hokie did you notice that when are going to get your shotgun, there is a note on the wall what says: ''Destiny is hope'' and a logo what is on the destiny game
I guess the reason that the assault rifle was changed from halo 3 to halo 3 odst was my assumption to show how much weaker even odst's are compare to Spartans.
Ive always wondered if its possible to save all the marines on missions like this one, oni alpha site, Kinzgo boulevard, uplift reserve and NMPD HQ? could you also use the plasma turret or the beam rifle to kill the hunters?
Only if you can get them to turn around. (You can't). If you want to try to get behind them, you'll have to be close enough that you might as well just use the Shotgun.
fair enough, much appreciated hokie Ik i comment alot but hey I love this game and trying new tactics and ideas while also using your guides :) thank you bro
Plasma weapons do not seem to require a significantly higher number of hits to strip armor, plus the AR seems weaker when used against targets other than just Brute power armor.
Hokiebird428 really? I though the plasma pistol and rifle took more shots towards brute power armor (not counting overcharge) I guess I will have to redo halo 3 and odst on legendary to see those differences.
I always say fuck it and run pass the Hunters. I know it's not honorable, but in my mind, Buck would do anything to get to Dare as quickly as possible.
Hey mate, these guides are a little outdated. Seems like someone's improved upon Legendary since 2014. It's about time for another one if you ask me, because I love these things.
Hokie, are you looking forward to Halo 5? Will you get it and Xbox One in future? And what do you think about that Halo Master Chief edition (the game which includes Halo 1-4) which was annoounced at E3? I'm so exciting for them!
Thanks, I have played halo before. In fact, I used to play halo 1-3 religiously, until I sold my xbox 360, and my original xbox1 broke, and bought a ps3. So you're telling me that 343's takeover of the franchise killed it?
Didn't kill it outright, but it shot it in the foot a few times. Now the poor thing is hobbling around screaming for someone to help it while 343 is standing over it, gun in hand, admiring the size of it's own penis.
Well, then move from cover to cover until you can get close enough to combo him. I've never had any problems with it no matter what weapon he was carrying.
