Thank you so much. This fight was starting to make he hate this game. I knocked him out before he could ever use poison breath. It’s crazy how being aggressive and moving back in worked so well. I platinumed Elden Ring before this, and this fight probably gave me more trouble than any in Elden Ring. 😅
@cwavy_6193 I'm playing it now cause my girlfriend said she played it as a kid. (Of course I have to do the boss fights lol) But Damn these fights are just getting stupid. I really hope the rest of the game isn't like this and the last couple fights before it. Totally ruined the flow I had going.
My team was over-leveled at this point, Tidus had Hastega, Wakka had Sleep Buster, Lulu had the -aga elementals, Auron had all 4 breaks, and Rikku was kicking ass with hot spurs
The only challenge I face is dedication. Dying to the guards after this fight where there is no save is pure pain and this fight usually takes 20 minutes if I'm lucky
I still don't know why the developers didn't add a save sphere after this fight, but eh what can you do. I can't tell you the amount of close calls I had with the fights after this one, but equipping fireproof armor and focusing on the annoying machina did help a lot
First time after I beat this boss I was wondering where the save sphere is.. I got lucky twice cause the leg machina used thrust kick twice and lulu was left and damaged and enough power to kill it with her spell... but wtf.. looking back I doubt I’d get that lucky again to go through the tower again without fainting
You made this look very easy. Here I was think the Ranged battle was the best option because there is no poison breath chance. Typically this works really well until Evrae gets below 10000 health and he starts hasting himself. Thanks for the help and I will grind for Stoneproof and skills/ stats as a bonus.
You can always grind a bit more in the airship if you still aren't confident with your HP, but it shouldn't take too much time with the right prep! Good Luck! Hope it goes well!
So glad found this video man ff x is the first of the series (apart from 15) I’ve played and was absolutely loving it until got stuck here other month ! This helped me destroy him hahaha and can continue with story subbed 👍🏻
That poison breath just wipes out my whole team when its below 10k hp honestly dont know how to deal with it properly, its so frustrating, i'm pretty underleveled but not so much to the point i can't beat it, just that one move just absolutely destroys my whole team
Thanks for the guide this boss was a total pain in the ass I found a great way to beat him collect as much money as you can to do at least do 99999 damage on him use Rikku's spare change I collected 10000 gil Then then have Auron do mental break and magic break then have Lulu pelt him with spells till he dies also have Wakka do Dark buster on him to lessen the chance of getting hit by claw attacks Just in Case. You can kill him totally with spare change I just didn't have the patience to collect 30000 gil lol so halfing his health that was was better than nothing.
It’s actually pretty easy! Just don’t skip too many random encounter battles. I had the same amount of health at this point without grinding and I only skipped the battles that were time consuming, and even then it was only a few battles.
Protection against Petrification is not a good idea in this fight, as Stone Gaze will delay the hell out of your character if you don't have SOS Haste (and critical HP) or Auto-Haste.
god damn am i underleveled as hell. none of my characters have >2000hp and i basically have 0 strength and defense. i battled every single monster that i came across, yet im this far behind? how does that happen?
If you feel a bit underleveled, you can always just grind a bit more in the airship corridors. Also when grinding up all your characters, it's a little tedious, but it's a good idea to make sure everyone performs at least one action so that they gain AP when the battle ends. Whenever I do a casual playthrough, I make sure to never flee from any battle and make sure all my characters get at least one action in, even defending with triangle works. And the results are the stats you see in the video.
K most of this fight i can deal with except the fact this boss cheats and if you use slow in him he immediately uses haste again out of turn and gets a free turn
Great guide but my stats and attacks are no where near as powerful as yours . I’ve fought every encounter so far and maxed out my sphere grid on level 1 but my attacks are literally half yours from watching the video 🤷♂️
Are you doing a no sphere grid run? Haste is one of the first spells Tidus learns so Im wondering if you intentionally don't have it. In any case, it still is possible to possible to beat him without haste, but it will take a bit longer, and you have to be a little more careful when Evrae casts haste on himself. Keep your eyes on the CTB (the rectangular box in the top right that has the faces of your characters, that's your indicator on whose turn goes next). You can try unleashing all your overdrives when you think he's close to dying. Other ways to get haste are to use chocobo feathers (which you could have stolen from Cactuars in Bikanel Island). If you happened to miss activating haste, you can always go back in the Sphere grid by grinding out sphere levels. Although, if you are doing an NSG run, ignore everything I just said, the strategy to beating him is very different in that case.
