Now the updates and new features risk being conditioned according to the subscription, the aim being to make people dependent on their product, then they will be able to stop the perpetual license as Adobe did and increase their price.
I used Cubase for a long time, now I work more in S1. Steinberg always comes up with a great thing, but doesn't follow through, a typical example is articulation switching, which has been working kind of half-assed for many years. S1 copied a lot of things from Cubase, but simplified them and took them further. However, it is true that I miss the sampler track in S1.
I might have to give Cubase a shot. I was using S1 for mixing and logic for producing. I was trying to switch to Ableton for producing, then just trying to do it all in S1. Exact same boat here. Went from Sonar to S1. Still using S1 but it's become a hassle. Audio pops, CPU usage spikes on random plugins, sticky notes. Wasn't that way in the early days. Now with this subscription nonsense, really making me want to look elsewhere.

Cubase is easily the better DAW. PreSonus has had, generally, easily the better Marketing department. Steinberg leaning into the composition/scoring crowd actually hurt them because this can give the impression that the DAW is only for those within a certain market segment, when Cubase is actually [almost certainly] the best general purpose DAW on teh market. Digital Performer has this same issue, even though it's actually a fantastic Engineering DAW.
Cubase is a beast PERIOD. Underrated software for Production, Mixing and Mastering. Just did a vid on my channel about it! Good stuff family. Blessings! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💯
Underrated? By whom? Cubase has been around and established itself as "THE DAW to beat" for DECADES. Anyone who calls Cubase "underrated" just hasn't been paying attention, lol.
That’s a tough question to answer. It really is a matter of preference. Cubase has many of the things I prefer, & some I didn’t even know I wanted/needed. The subscription thing is what chased me away from s1. 🎹♥️

Hold up.. I have to ask the question. Why do producer pay a monthly fee when you already bought the DAW. do the math. Daw only cost like 200 to 500. Monthly fee for a year. You already paid for it three times or more. "per·pet·u·al" adjective 1.never ending or changing.
@@GotBettaBeats hold up.. I pay full amount. I own it, don't need to be online to use it. I can take it anywhere. Turn it on and turn it off. It's mine to do what ever. I would never and I mean never buy into that.
We must boycott these daw subscription service you end up spending more money in the long run for a product that you don't own and hold you music production hostage
I did some calculating.. (not that i am for a subscription model) A perpetual license is 399,- on their website, and all the addons combined is around 700,-.. That makes +/- 1100,-. With 20,- a month it takes 55 months (thats 4 yrs and 7 months) to pay it of. During this time period there's going to be about 3 times a paid upgrade of 150,-. Thats another 450,- Thats almost 2 yrs extra.. In those 2 yrs there is another paid upgrade, which is another 8 months.. To pay of all of this in a subscription model it takes 7 years and 2 months (give or take) of 20,- a month. In my eyes its not that expensive. But i get it, someone who already has paid for a perpetual license loses more money when wanted to change to subscription. I think it should be reasonable for Presonus to give out a 15 months no payment to those who want to go from perpetual to subscription. And i'd rather see a rent-to-own model, where you pay monthly until you've paid for a perpetual license, and also for the addons.. a rent-to-own model. But now with the hybrid model, you pay 180,- per year, and after each year (i'd say the first year) you can choose to stop the subscription and you'll get the perpetual license.. It's half the price if you do it for only one year..
absolutely... now I´m a big fan of Groove Agent, Samplertrack "Slice Mode" too... the great modern sample content ist sooo inspriring! very good old Hip Hop drums and nice dirty loops sounds for sounddesigning hiphop stuff.... I use a LOT tape mode pitch, stretch and slice chopping...
Come on, you're not telling the truth. First, the EQ: the pro EQ has eq, compression, gate, and limiter. You can make up your own mixed setup with other software and drag them over as a bundle. Studio One has a large meter, too. media Bay: That's a lie, it doesn't add anything to the loops you are listening to from there. It's dry, and you can have it play the samples when you click on it or set it to play only when you click on play. There is a volume setting on it. Your choice. Studio One has an export stems, mix down, and a mastering software. And going back to the loops. They have wet loops and dry loops. There is no DSP being used when listening to samples. I get it. If you prefer Cubase, that's fine. But to not show us on the Studio One software what you are talking about because it's a lie is just wrong. Enjoy Cubase and have fun. And by the way, you can pay for Studio One and own it for 399.99. Just like you can pay for Cubase 579.99. 😊
I'll try to record a video showing you some of the things I'm explaining. Like studio one has a meter as a vst, but not fixed like Cubase. And the media Bay in studio One does add in the effects that are on the mix bus, I'm not sure if you can disable it but it didn't work for me.
It's not forget studio one, I still enjoy S1 but I'm not feeling the direction they are are headed with the subscription service. So I started back using another DAW I thought was great for production and mixing.

@@iamjohnblack I’m never doing subscription daw. That fact that when they finally add a new plugin it’s only available to subscribers is baffling and unforgivable. I refuse to spend another $ investing in s1 on upgrades or anything else, and I was a fan, I even convinced 3 friends to buy it. Presonus needs to understand that this is not the way to treat full fare paying users, or that while a subscription model may work for some people, being pigeonholed will push away more people than it will attract. Exact same boat here. Went from Sonar to S1. Still using S1 but it's become a hassle. Audio pops, CPU usage spikes on random plugins, sticky notes. Wasn't that way in the early days. Now with this subscription nonsense, really making me want to look elsewhere.
I gonna follow you now, no reason that I follow S1 user if I use C13 😊
Me too
GOAT
Cubase 14 out and its way better than studio one 7 so glad i didnt upgrade. Splice intergration seemed cool but not worth 149 to me.
@@joemurray5506 it's crazy cuz I didn't know that 14 was coming out
It’s kinda like having a girlfriend/boyfriend do something that makes you feel, “I don’t see a long future with this person, might as well get out of it now while we’re still friends and make myself happy. 🎹♥️
I’ve only ever used Cubase. As I understand it’s definitely the creators DAW
Blessings! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💯
gonna check it out now
Underrated? By whom? Cubase has been around and established itself as "THE DAW to beat" for DECADES. Anyone who calls Cubase "underrated" just hasn't been paying attention, lol.
Are you saying that Cubase is better than Studio One?
Not better, but Im not liking where the company is headed with the subscription or pay-to-play model.
That’s a tough question to answer. It really is a matter of preference. Cubase has many of the things I prefer, & some I didn’t even know I wanted/needed. The subscription thing is what chased me away from s1. 🎹♥️
Two tier subscription means presonus is dead in the water….6.6 updates were nothing and the mixer view sux eggs
wow... I'm hoping they dont diminish the great things that made S1 what it is.
@@GotBettaBeats i've had to return to S1 for a period due a problem with cubase....my comment on 'the mixer sux'....is the scaling ,....the idea of only two widths,...ridiculously narrow....n' the normal 'narrow'....totally miss the needs of working in mixer view, or console view'....using maschine mk3 as i see you are....means studio one's slavishness to mackie control means the control (ironic that S1's control is limp)...is diminished to the max compared with cubase, where midi mapping (version 12 n' on) is dope squared......i hear ya as well on the media bay in studio one....
Hold up.. I have to ask the question. Why do producer pay a monthly fee when you already bought the DAW. do the math. Daw only cost like 200 to 500. Monthly fee for a year. You already paid for it three times or more. "per·pet·u·al"
adjective
1.never ending or changing.
thats the issue with that, u never really own it
@@GotBettaBeats hold up.. I pay full amount. I own it, don't need to be online to use it. I can take it anywhere. Turn it on and turn it off. It's mine to do what ever. I would never and I mean never buy into that.
I don't think Studio One is behind of any DAW, Cubase is a good DAW bit the look and feel and ease of work fascinate me in Studio One.
Cubase is looping them these days
Cubase is just all-around better than S1.
Cubase is the BEST !!!!!
I think cubase has the best stock drums out of all DAWs.... especially for hiphop...
absolutely... now I´m a big fan of Groove Agent, Samplertrack "Slice Mode" too... the great modern sample content ist sooo inspriring! very good old Hip Hop drums and nice dirty loops sounds for sounddesigning hiphop stuff.... I use a LOT tape mode pitch, stretch and slice chopping...
Go where you can get the most productivity.
💯
👌🏿🔥🔥🔥
So all other videos are basically ST ONE and now F ST ONE ? Because of few minor differences
Hmm 🤔
It's not forget studio one, I still enjoy S1 but I'm not feeling the direction they are are headed with the subscription service. So I started back using another DAW I thought was great for production and mixing.
@@GotBettaBeats 🍻🍻
@@GotBettaBeats I work in REASON limitations or not : got to stick to one and Master it .. But I do admit to BITWIG tempting me more and more : cheers 🥂
I thought about, but I just upgraded my studio one lol
Your meters constantly lagging out annoying the hell out of me
i didnt notice that... my bad bro, I had to work out some issues with OBS
S1 auto play..just double click on sample
At the time it didn't auto play when I would click the first sample, and if I hit the play ⏯️ button I would have to manually hit play again
Let's agree to disagree.
Autoplay has been there
where i have to manually start the first sound, and from there it will autoplay. but as soon as i click somewhere else I have to manually play the sounds all over again
studio on auto plays sounds
Maybe I missed the setting, I always had to manually play
I switched back to Logic
I’ll continue to use logic, but I really wanna learn cubase and become comfortable and proficient with it. As soon as I make all parts audio in my s1 songs, I’m porting them over to cubase. 🎹♥️
@@JamesLloydKeyboardist why are u ditching S1?
@@iamjohnblack I’m never doing subscription daw. That fact that when they finally add a new plugin it’s only available to subscribers is baffling and unforgivable. I refuse to spend another $ investing in s1 on upgrades or anything else, and I was a fan, I even convinced 3 friends to buy it. Presonus needs to understand that this is not the way to treat full fare paying users, or that while a subscription model may work for some people, being pigeonholed will push away more people than it will attract. This really needs to not become our future in using daws. 🎹♥️
Cubase is so hard to use.
I'll do a setup video soon
It takes some getting used to. But I’m ready to learn. 🎹♥️
Reaper is even harder, but 100% worth it...imo. Cubase is worth it too...especially if you're on an Apple Silicon computer.
