Well chuffed I made it onto this video I wasn’t expecting to get mentioned at all. To make it to the Nate Murphy Hall of Fame amazing. From those early days of 15 years dreaming about Van life to actually making it happen, I really didn’t think I was going to build my own van but I did and now I’m here in El Chorro and I’m loving it. It’s funny how you only incorporate all the larger vans. I’ve seen many small vans like the Transit Connect that we’re well built. Can you do a video on those for 2020. I also purchased your e-book to assist with my build.Thanks!

We don’t need to drive into cities, but would like to explore mountains, and rural villages/countryside in Europe, and visit remote cafes and small campsites. Would an L3H2 have problems getting around? Also wonder which vans are easier and cheaper to fix / obtain parts in Europe at the moment?

The do and don'ts of van builds regarding, van insurance and MOT tests. I would hate to convert my van and find I can't insure it (or I'd invalidated my insurance) or fail an MOT test because of something I'd overlooked. Regards, Steve.
Hey Steve, I think mostly van conversions and MOTs are OK. The things to be wary are of rusting (and the issues of welding say, wheel arches with a conversion inside van - you would have to remove a lot). I tend to leave wheel arches without too much stuff for that reason. Other than that - weight limits are pretty important.

When it was having its MOT done the tester said, "Your van is spot on however technically I should fail it" When I asked why, he said. "I'm unable to inspect the rear floor area as it's ply lined, it's part of the new MOT rules, but as I can see it's solid from the underneath I'm happy to let it go. So this made me have second thoughts about the van conversion and hence why I asked the question. I thought, if I didn't know that, what else don't I know. Thanks again mate. Much appreciated.

Nate, Will you change your van from UK to Spanish plates? I am a British Expat now living in France since December 2020 with my own Self build UK Van Build, unsure which way to go with regard to the European conformity issues, Any ideas Amigo?
To Spanish is basically not possible for my conversion - homologation will not be possible. Spain as pretty strict and restrictive regulations. Probably if it's a major problem with Brexit BS I may have to sell it in the UK and do another. Annoying but no huge deal. France might be better in this respect.
@@NateMurphy We moved to France in Dec 2020, looking at the situation so far I am forming a position it may be a battle, which is a massive pain. I will have a go though. Check the weird rules around driving licenses too! As far as I know, you can drive a foreign vehicle on a foreign license, but a UK license is going to stop being valid if you have residency in Spain. You'll need a Spanish license, and once you have a Spanish license you're not allowed to drive a foreign-registered vehicle in Spain! Hopefully you'll have to sell it in the UK and then we can watch you doing a new build in Spain!!!

$18 for your conversion guide yet Amazon kindle has it for $34.99. I thought the rules were if you sell it on Amazon you can not sell it any cheaper elsewhere.
Amazon are shit, they take 70% of the $ if you price over $9.99. Might work for some authors with wide audiences but totally crippling for small nieche book producers.

If you had this idea that's fine, because of course 2 people can have the same idea. But come on, coming out with a "best of" video a week after me?! Lastly, asking people to do their own van tour and then putting it on your channel is a cheep way to do it man. I mean you can do it that way but I really hope you're paying these people that do their own tours and then send you the footage they gave you because you're making a lot of money off their content that they are sending to you.

In terms of copying your ideas, rest assured this is not the case, we filmed it two weeks prior but did not have the time to finish it before the end of the year - I feel it is a fairly obvious content idea to highlight content we have created throughout the year. In terms of tours, being based in Europe, with lockdowns and limited options for travel and meeting people we have had little choice about how we operate. Trust me, it would be much easier and better all-round to film things ourselves.

I have seen this done, usually a bed that folds/slides otherwise you have space issues. I just cant put my finger on which one it was.
