    For someone who isn’t a pro angler and doesn’t fish competitively, you have an amazing set up man! Your boat and setup is similar to a lot of pros. Very organized and have a ton of gear/lures/rods. Great stuff man! 👍👍

    Jim, I'm once again blown away by your neatness, cleanliness and organizational abilities related to fishing! I'm in awe! I see that your other subscribers are thoroughly intrigued as well, judging by the questions pouring in. Despite having a really cool looking boathouse, my boat and tackle needs constant cleaning due to the spiders and their poop. :-) May I ask, in what type of place do you store your boat that it's always gleamingly clean? Thanks for sharing my friend!

    • @peytonwilson7103
      @peytonwilson7103 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure he stores it in a storage locker :)

      Juanelo1946 Hey Juanelo, I don't get to fish as often as I would like, so I keep my boat as organized as possible so I'm not searching for baits and I can spend more time fishing. You definitely have a cool boat house...I'd deal with some spider poop to have a boathouse any day!! ha-ha!! I was keeping it in a 30' storage unit, but with recently purchasing a new home my baby is home in the garage. As always, thanks for the comment and thanks for watchin!!

      Interesting that you forgo the rod lockers in favor of more storage, but I can see how you would have to have crates up on the deck if you didn't.

    TackleJunky81 Great tour. Can you do a short video on reel setup? I am getting better with my baitcaster, but still get backlashes here and there. I'm sure everyone does, but I want to make sure I am not missing anything. Enjoyed the video on tearing down the baitcaster and lubing it and then the re-assembly. Keep them coming. You and Flukemaster are killing it.

      Robert Grasso Robert I had plans to do a lot this year, and things just kept coming up. I didn't plan on moving this year, but I did, and it seemed like it rained from April to July...just one thing after another. Now the lake that I go to is closed due to an oil spill. Now that moving is done and out of the way, and when my kids go back to school -they'll be in full days!- so either the end of this season or the beginning of next I can crank out the videos I had planned for this year, which were some teaching type videos. I do appreciate the comment!!

    Sorry this is off topic but I know you used to love the Morris Sig reels and now you use all diawa. Was curious about the pros and cons vs. The Morris reels. Thank you!

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Grindstaff Both are solid reels. The Morris will always be one of my favorites. As far as Daiwa goes, the TWS is the real deal!! I can't say that I've backlashed yet with those reels. I really have nothing bad to say about either reel.

  • @snabsmith4918

    You may have already answered in another comment. What is the black under the cleats? How does the 55lb thrust Edge do? My 2013 tracker came with 45lb and it's horrible in any wind. I plan on upgrading. And the Mercury cover-do you leave it on all the time? Thanks.

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Snabsmith Its traction tape, I put it on to protect the paint when I tie off to the dock. 55 does fine for the lakes I fish, wanted a bigger one, but didn't want to mess with another battery. I take the cover off when I run the motor, mainly got it for the drive to the lake.

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lee S Yeah pretty much. Some I'll leave strapped to the deck, but mostly I take them inside. I'd rather use the rod locker for more tackle storage.

    You would have a panic attack watching me fumble around with my tackle and organization. Nice vid, wish I had the personality to keep stuff as neat as you do.
    Where are you at in IL? I live down in Madison County across from St.Louis. Fishing has been real rough at the lakes I go to.

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ant banks I'm Madison County too...small world man! Fishing was great late winter/early spring and then it went down the crapper fast.

    • @antbanks7548
      @antbanks7548 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TackleJunky81 Sure did go downhill fast. My buddy said there was less than 10 keepers out of 22 boats this past Wednesday at Coffeen. I'm going to a private lake in Belleville this weekend, I'll let you know if it picks up. I'm pretty much only throwing big worms or ned rigs. I really like the elaztechs for most of my plastics now, the way they float is pretty cool.
      That Daiwa Tatula vid you did looked like a nice lake you were on, was that Madison Co.? You ever fished Horseshoe Lake? I wonder how the bite is there.
      I didn't start fishing til my 30's( a few years back) so I don't know know all the best lakes around here, although Coffeen tends to be my friends favorite, they usually get a couple 3-5 lbers on a full day. I'm sure the Mississippi river has some decent areas around Alton.

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Silver lake was the lake that I was on in that video. Coffeen is a good lake, it's just hard to fish when I can't fire up my outboard. Late Winter-to-early Spring, you can find them on the dam, but other than that it's too hard to cover water using the trolling motor only.

  • @PATSXPatriotsXPATS84
    @PATSXPatriotsXPATS84 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    How is that rtx spinner performing? Thinking about getting one but cannot find any reviews and for a combo with it would you prefer dobyns fury or duckett ghost?

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luke Poole The RTX is doing well and is a quality reel for the money. I did a reel comparison video with it. As far as the rods go I've never been a fan of Duckett's and haven't used the Fury so I can't give you an honest opinion between the two. I'm totally impressed with the Savvy, Champion and the DX Series and I'd imagine the Fury is pretty sweet as well.

    Question sir, I noticed underneath the cleats that secure and help anchor the boat there is a square black piece. It appears it may save the boat from nicking the paint. Anyhow this is what I need for mine. Any info would be much appreciated.

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Fishing Man Hey bud that's just an anti-slip mat that I picked up at Bass Pro...it's not the real rough material that you see on skateboards it's pretty smooth...and yes the reason I have it on there is to protect the paint in that area.

    @tacklejunky81, I'm looking the exact model except a 2005 and it has a 50hp Merc that propels it. I was wondering a few things; how well does she plane off and whats the top speed (roughly)?

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It gets on plane pretty fast, and top speed is anywhere from 28-31 mph depending upon how much weight I have in the boat.

      Alright, thanks! I know you already responded, but have you had any issues with the 2 stroke. I've been doing a lot of research and it goes 50/50, people either love this motor or hate it.... I found an 08' with the 50 elpto.. I guess my question is, would you recommend this motor?

    What is your opinion on Powerpro braided line? I have a small budget, so I'm trying to find the best bang for my buck. Thx.

    • @CaptDavesSportfishing
      @CaptDavesSportfishing 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      SeargentWaffles Shop BULK....many times places like Amazon will have super deals on large spools. If you don't mind not using the latest and greatest, and don't think you need to in Freshwater. There's stuff called KastKing that is a braid, not proven it's spectra though that's decent and cheap, and will work. Then, there's Bull Buster Braid that you can get in bulk that is supposed to be good. Buy in bulk, either reverse your braid every once in awhile to get most mileage out of it, or don't fill the spool, just top shot it with a 100 yards, over some mono on your spool.

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      SeargentWaffles I've used it in the past. It's a good braid. I didn't have any real issues with it, just found better braided line. If you're on a budget and PowerPro is within your budget then go for it.

      rcrawford1030 The center compartment was for rod storage, which I cut a lot of it out and use it for tackle storage. I strap my rods to the deck of the boat and bring them inside after fishing.
