    I love your techniques. Applicable to fly fishing strategies as well. Don't ever stop until the wheels fall off. Legend!

    That looks fun, TD. I'm gonna have to try that with some hali spoons next fall once I have the kayak I want to get...

      Thanks. My pleasure...in both catching them and eating them. Had oven broiled "turf n turf" tonight...Fish fillets topped with pieces of shrimp. Yummy.

      Me too. Looking good. Lotsa water coming in already and a big snowpack yet to melt and runoff.

    What size chain lures small or in middle. Also where would you recommend fishing ifor perch if you are not to fimilar with willard.

      The ones I make and use are usually about 1/4 oz. Best areas are right out of the N. Marina or S. Marina. But if you have good sonar you can find groups of them in many places on the lake. Once you find them, then spot lock or anchor and fish them vertically. Send me an email to tdude@centurylink.net and I will send you a writeup I just put together with a lot of the info you need.

    Nice mixed bag. Can I ask, what were you tipping the single with on those fligs? Fish strip or worms?

      Chub minnows. Either small whole minnows or pieces from larger ones. The perch are mopping up on small dying shad right now and something fishy gets more attention than worms.

      @@tubedude467 @TubeDude Thanks for your reply.. I must admit I have gotten out of the habit of baiting artificial lures over the years. I sort of ended up using either bait or artificials but the mix petered out. Pike, trout salmon kind of lead me down this road probably from an average faster presentation. Then I watch your video and I see the other way working very well indeed. Appreciation for that!.

      @@phisquared6187 I grew up in Idaho and learned fly fishing early. For many years I was strictly artificials. Then, fishing more in salt water and for some larger fresh water fish I began to use more bait...or add bait to my lures. In later years, many of the lures I make are nothing more than a BDS...bait delivery system. Definitely times when a bit of "sweetener" on your lure will get more votes. A colorful lure brings more fish to your bait. And the bait helps seal the deal on your lures.

    Are draggin or vertical fishing.

    • @tubedude467
      @tubedude467  ปีที่แล้ว

      Once the water cools and the fish slow down, they won't chase moving lures as well. So vertical jigging...and keeping the baited lure close to the bottom...is the best way to get them. I will be releasing a video on Fall Perching soon that will show the locations, lures, baits and techniques in more detail

      I went to sportsman and checked out the frozen minnows and saw the package cured minnows. Which one do you recommend. Also I really dont fish bait. How do you hook them, and how do you keep them and maintain the bait?

    • @tubedude467
      @tubedude467  ปีที่แล้ว

      Use frozen...not cured. The stuff they use for curing turns off the fish. Small minnows you can use whole or half. Wrap the hook around the spine for more secure hooking. I keep mine in a small soup-sized insulated container when fishing. Otherwise, you can sometimes refreeze the leftovers...but they get soft. I'll be putting up another video sometime soon showing baits, hooking methods, etc.

    Not really ice fishing it's just cold.

      I know...I know. Just a play on words. I DID have some ice in my guides...and frozen fingertips.
