This is a great series to have on your channel because most of us would love an LS powered sleeper but really can't afford it, especially if you have to pay someone to do the work for you.
    Ask me how I know🙄
Really love your content, especially that bad ass Rambler !

Thanks hopefully this build shows it’s not all that bad and with some marketplace shopping you can find stuff pretty affordable!

Rustomod is living proof... you can build a dream with a little bit of cash and hard work.
I'm a complete amateur ( never even built a go cart as a kid) but I've rebuilt a complete 1988 Silverado, Reg Cab, Stepside truck.
Every nut, bolt, rubber and wire, all the glass, all the metal (except the gate, it was folded in half like a taco but managed to get it pretty straight) and the fibreglass box sides are brand new complete with a high HP, naturally aspirated, crate V8 from Chevrolet Performance. (I'm not an LS/EFI fan)
My cost, was $18K Canadian and the current appraisal dwarfs that investment so I must have done well.
Can YOU buy a new Silverado for 18K today? That would be a resounding NO!
I built what I call a ground pounder but I'm told I've built a "Restomod?" I'm close to 70 years young and had to look that one up.
Health-wise, I'm not supposed to be able to do things like this but I did it over a 15 year period so no one would notice. Hardest part was keeping it a secret.
This summer was it's debut on the road and it's now my daily driver. Garage Queen.... pfffttt.
The young ones on the street call the truck and myself, "Relics" and that may be but they'll also tell you we're both "hella fast old relics". 😆
Your never too old so don't just dream about it, go build that dream of yours before you regret it.

Great car. I've spent 4k dollars just buying misc stuff after an engine and turbos have been purchased in a car with an already built trans. It was on holley so that adds up but man the nickle and dime stuff will kill you. I went from a big single turbo LS mustang with rods and pistons to a purpose built no prep Trans Am thay cost 41k and made 1230 whp to my current 2010 Z06 twin turbo 380 LS 1561whp that has surpassed 60k dollar building it and there are still things to make better if i want that 200plus in the coming season of roll and drag racing. Best advise for people is take your time, I did not. Lol. Time will allow you to wait for those deals that are too good to be true and will save a bunch, daily market place finds and when you find then buy them immediately because there are another dozen people trying to do the same thing. Good luck to everyone building a LS swapped turbo car. I have 3 under my belt since 2019 and have loved every single one.

@Rustomod Yes sir!! I paid $200 for a set of 18" stock Mustang wheel on Market place. C&C Auto i talk to on here has a brother with a white Vic with the same wheels. And it looks way better than the cop wheels. And they are bigger and wider. Like you I am not spending thousands on wheels lol!!!. I have enough in the swap building a sleeper lol. I'm the one doing the Ls3 swap with my grandkids.

I like the premise of this, I've done something vary similar. But after Consideration of advice given by some big name fellas. It cost me Quite a bit more. I'm not sure how much more because I've not added it up. I do know my piggy bank is hiding under my bed in a fetal position. I didn't buy parts that I might have to change later. So maybe you will catch up and then Surpass my cost? One thing holds true, As steve morris Repeatedly says. Making power is easy, making it live is the hard part. If you just want to say I have a Turbo ls in my swap, it starts and runs, it blows the tires off, And now I'm done. The sickness has not Overcome you as it has myself. Doing that, for this much money. SWEET 🤘🤘 Beats the hell out of a barrel full of monkeys, All day.

    • @Rustomod
      @Rustomod  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@Rustomod One of the things you have over most. Finding someone that will tune on a stock ecu. Or getting a tune by mail that is good from Idle to OH 💩! Because of all the variables. Air intake temp, Quench, Compression, fuel type, Converter, Gear ratio, Weight of the vehicle, Elevation where you live. As you can tell I have jumped head first down the rabbit hole. I found out that Easter eggs do not come from a night in vegas with the Rooster. But the bunny's husband was there for the conversation so... 🤔

I built a single GT45 turbo 318 Dodge Dart Sport, nearly 10years ago.....non intercooled, blow thru Holley 750DP.
Cost me about $4000 from Go.
Learned alot in a short period.
