@Sylo Dui You also have a good point here, we don't know if the alterna logs are lying or if they're giving us everything. We don't even know what the alterna logs are and where they came from.
I think it doesn’t really matter that they weren’t in the alterna logs, because that little hat or whatever it was of one hanging up looks enough like an inkling i think. Just a wavy sort of inkling. Like how cuttlefish look like squids because theyre so related. So possibly they were just grouped in with inklings and are basically just inklings that look a bit different? Instead of being completely somewhere else or a whole other group.
@@s3lf1shsyan1d3 We shouldn’t base how cuttlefish look like based on these idols they aren’t really known to be a representation of their species. Only a idea on how they could look like
Maybe for a new update. The game might give us more character customization options. Pointier ears, “teeth” pattern, height, and eyes.(IM TALKING ABOUT THE EYES LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE SQUID AND OCTOLING IDLE HAVE.) specifically the plus shaped pupils and the horizontal pupils.
I hope there's buildup to this. Octolings had a great buildup to them. I think it's because of their buildup that I adore them. I kinda don't care if we get cuttlefish or not rn
I don't like how those Cuttlefish Idols are impossible to distinguish from Inklings. If there are going to be a playable Cuttlefish race, then they *need* to be immediately distinguishable from Inklings and Octolings, and I don't know exactly how that can be done, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done.
From what I’ve seen, Callie and Marie are actually Firefly Squids, or Minecraft Glow Squids! I believe this because, during Splatoon 1 and 3’s Splatfests, their tentacles glow! Yeah. It’s that simple. I really want the ability to pick alternate Squid/Octo species. SIDE ORDER EITHER THAT OR SALMONLINGS Edit: I would just like to say, I did not look on the Splatoon Wiki for this fact, but rather deduced it myself. As I am something of a dunce, I may not get everything right. However, I did just look at the wiki, and it says the following: "In the dark, either during a Splatfest or certain Octo Valley missions, the player's Inkling will glow brightly in humanoid form, lighting up the area immediately around them and helping to differentiate the player from other Inklings." After some fact checking, I have determined the accuracy of this statement to be sound. However, I will stand my ground that players are _not_ actually firefly squids, but rather this is something unique to The Squid Sisters. This is because, as the wiki says, bio-luminescence is a trait that the player has, likely to help the younger players know who they are without being too blatant about this. At the very least, I like to imagine that TSS are _specifically_ Firefly Squids, if nothing more than to help them stand out, because Callie deserves it, damnit.
Thinking Captain Cuttlefish isn’t a Cuttlefish is actually so cursed. If we get Cuttlefish in dlc maybe we can get some more story lore on Captain and how he got that rank possibly in the great turf war. Maybe the cuttlefish make up most of with Cuttlegear and squidbeak splatoon as we know they have more than just 8 agents.
If they do it right, it'd be great, but even if they do, I don't see them retconning the existing characters. That just wouldn't make any sense. I guess MAYBE you could argue that Cap'n is actually a cuttlefish and that Callie/Marie are 3/4 inkling 1/4 cuttlefish? Which would be very interesting! I'd honestly kind of like the idea of hybrids come into the mix, but I don't see it happening for them specifically. Fun fact: Callie and Marie also have specific squid species they were based off! Callie is a bigfin reef squid, and Marie is a firefly squid! The hero suits in 1&2 are also based off the firefly squid. While I can absolutely see the logic behind why someone might think Capn's name, his cuttlebone joke, and the shape of the inkling idols' pupils are related, their species has leant way too much into their personal design to just suddenly rewrite it.
My one grip with cuttlings is that cuttlefish have a bone inside their mantle that is roughly the same size as it. So cuttlings if they still have this bone couldn't swim through grates.
I agree with this all, BUT for pearl's race it isn't exactly confirmed she's a northern pygmy squid, it's just speculated! (although she definitely is a squid and I headcanon she is a pygmy, sadly not confirmed in canon)
I really don't think we need another playable species but if we were to get one, I'd rather have something like the sea hares from that fan made Splatoon 3 concept someone made years ago. A playable gastropod species as opposed to yet another cephalopod would be much cooler.
This is why I'd prefer salmonlings. Salmonids have been a steady presence in the series as of late, making it reasonable that they'd become a new species. The original hype for playable octolings was because octolings had been in the series from the start, as physically present characters you could interact with. Cuttlefish don't have that. I saw some concept fanart for salmonlings on Twitter a while ago that was essentially a Smallfry piloting a robot body resembling an inkling/octoling, which I think would be a great way to introduce salmonlings without messing with salmonid lore!
@agent 8 octarians sell their tech to salmoids (see: scrapper having the "onward" motif that you hear in story mode when you beat a level). personally i'd prefer cuttlelings more than salmonlings just cause i think salmonids are cool cause they ARENT human looking. oh and also its been stated that its pretty much impossible for inklings to get along with salmonids just because of how vastly different their cultures are. inklings and octolings value hedonism while salmonids value dying and being eaten. as for salmonids being known and thats why they should be playable, i actually would like some new pieces of world building like where cuttlefish hang out and why theres an influx of them suddenly in the splatlands. to each their own :]
Okay so there is actually a salmonling character that appears as a band member of C-Side. However, we never actually see them outside of the art for the game. Because no sea creatures to my knowledge have modeled characters that are of inkling/octoling size have been released or set in the game as characters, i find it hard to believe that nintendo would insert a new playable character like this without first introducing nonplayable characters. In addition, as there is 2-d canon art for a salmonling, there is also 2-d canon art for cuttlefish as seen in this video. Which to me says that either creature is just as likely to be added into the game. Lastly, it is of my opinion that cuttlefish would fit the game far better salmonlings mostly due to cuttlefish not being fish, and ultamately being squid/octopus like in nature. Despite all this I personally would not be particularly excited to see either introduced into the game as they currently stand, but am willing to keep an open mind.
I do believe that cuttleings are real in Splatoon but YALL FACE IT Nintendo doesn't talk about it much but I have a slight bit of proof which probably someone or multiple people said it in the results of the final splatfest didn't Pearl say "And Cuttlecore!" But it's a style of music in the Splatoon universe but maybe there is a chance cuttleings are real but idk we have different opinions yall
There’s only 3 main coleoidea which is inklings for squids and octolings for well octopuses and finally it’s makes sense if their going by this route then cuttlelings or cuddelings (if that’s their name in the main game hypothetically) are cuttlefish
Ever time someone say the SQUID sisters are cuttlefish because “their ears are longer than inklings,” cuttlefish is a cuttlefish because “his name is cuttlefish,” hell even the EXISTENCE of cuttlefish, i want to shove a coffin down my throat and set myself on fire. The only reason people think cuddlings exist in splatoon is because of captain cuttlefish (which is supposed to be a joke) and the squid sister’s ears. Now im pretty sure people have better reasons than what i’ve heard of, but i’m starting to wonder if a new species is really even necessary(which I totally wont complain about) but if there is i hope it’s something that arent “cuddlings” or “salmonings” Sorry for the rant TL;DR: cuddlings probably dont exist because the reasoning is kinda poor
when the kids game about humanity dying from somebody nuking the south pole, a robot that's been left for 12,000 years going psychopathic from being lonely for so long blending people up, and giant bears running shady companies is called a kids game:
I don't think they should (or will) exist because like...we don't need more than 2 species to play as. The DLC can be great without them. Also, aren't Cuttlefish literally squids themselves? Edit: Okay so Cuttlefish AREN'T squids, just closely related. But it still wouldn't make sense to *me* if they're closely related and just come into the game as a thing. If the "Cuttlefish" idols really are cuttlefish then it wouldn't really make sense because those two "Cuttlefish" idols HEAVILY resemble Inklings. Just my opinion though ^^
Slight correction: cuttlefish aren't squids, but they are very closely related. Like squids are more related to cuttlefish than they are to octopuses. To be fair I can understand the confusion as there is little to no distinction between squids and cuttlefish in some languages
Cuttlefish are not squids like how Neanderthal’s aren’t humans, just closely related, also I think the people who only want squid and octopuses aren’t really seeing the full picture
I think the main appeal of playable octolings sort of has to do with how they’ve been a part of the series since the first game, even though the amount of focus they get is minimum at best. Not to mention the fact that they already had an eye texture that we never get to see in game and could have their ink color changed. It’s the perfect setup for internet rumors. Cuttlefish really have no significance in the series apart from one characters name, and a theory that’s just wrong. I don’t have much faith in cuttlelings becoming part of the series. Could be cool though
oh boy cant wait for a new playable race every splatoon games DLC This one has to be about a cuddling stuck in TSA, before being named agent 6 and also they have to defuse a bomb put on that big tower in paris (I forgot what it was called but you know the one)
We still have no idea what Grizz wanted with Craig's brain. Maybe he, or whoever the villain of the DLC is gonna, is gonna create a race of super soldiers (Cuttlelings) using the dna of the two greatest great turf war soldiers: Craig and Octavio. They could also reuse the octarian models by giving them Craigs facial.....tentacles....hair....goatee...thing
If they do get implemented into the game i hope its kinda like the octolings but different. Copied homework but the answer are changed so much you cant tell.
I hope we can get the cephalopod quad together. And what I mean by that is that we get nautiluses as playable species. But then gnarly end axed that idea…
I really dislike the idea of playable cuttlefish, for some reason it just seems cheap to me. We've seen octolings throughout all the splatoon games and had an entire game before they were playable where they had a significant presence. If they do make cuttlelings a thing, I would prefer they do something different than what they did with the octolings.
maybe the cuttlefish just died out during the great turf war or whatever and then the dlc is about something trying to bring them back which is why they just magically exist again
Ngl, I want to see a dlc focused on the salmonids with a playable salmonid race. Think about it, they've existed since splatoon 2 and their eggs were central in splatoon 3's campaign, and unlike other races present in the game that can't use ink or can't dive into ink, salmonids can do both (maws and flopper both can sink into and swim in ink). Plus it would be nice to have the third race be much more unique than the other two.
Why dont we just accept that cuttlings and inklings are the same thing???? The cuttlefish idols look the exact same as any normal inkling. And irl cuttlefish look very similar to squid. It makes no sense to introduce a new species, especially something as dumb as cuttlings. Im 98% sure cuttlings in the splatoon universe are indistinguishable from inklings and that our player characters could also be cuttlefish. Theyre simply not different in any way to warrant an expansion dedicated to them
I knew callie, marie, and capn cuttle fish weren't cuttle fish bc they look like squids AND nintendo has ADMITTED their species in an interview once upon a time.
The other morning I was playing thus game and I saw a rizirone. I thought that it was just a fake or something and moved till I watched this video and in the second match there I am. I'm SakuraCow on the green team
I really like the idea of cuttlelings but if they become and actual thing I hope they pull a “idol looks different from the rest of the species” except it’s the rest of the species that looks different from inklings
what if all of the cuttlefish allusions in the visual design of the game / background elements is a smoke-screen for any future ink-kid options they want to add. they could represent a development in-joke of "cut content" / being "cut" from the game etc honestly the next hairstyles / next dlc character should be a rabbit with a tofu gun /s
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'll lose my mind if the squid sisters are cuttlefish because that means they wasted the oportunity of having an awesome new cuttlefish species by making them look exactly like the damn squids.
What if they add "cuttlelings" by just adding more customization to Inklings? Squids and Cuttlefish are really closely related, more so than Squids and Octopus. Inkling can just refer to "Squid-like" people and Octolings being Octopus related. There wouldn't need to me an introduction to an entirely new race because they are so closely related so they fall under the "Inkling" category. Maybe add ear customization/sizes, or new eye colors and boom, you technically have a cuttlefish instead of a squid. ( Though I wouldn't mind if instead Cuttlefish having their own character creation like Octolings )
Hot take: I’d rather have salmonlings than cuttelings (frylings, as I call them). I have a entire dlc plot about them living in my brain, if anybody’s interested I’ll braindump in the replies lol
It could be possible if cuttlings could be the playable species of Splatoon dlc even squids, octopus and cuttlefish are the only sea animals that have ink sac's ( which I looked it up on the internet ), also about the squid sisters and Craig cuttlefish not being cuttlings I do agree not just because I don't see them as cuttlings but also want to agree on the community that are agreeing with eachother. Though what if they were cuttlings not just to believe it but what if the developers did that ( if so will you actually delete your channel? )
Okay but where do we see the magazine with the cuttelings? Is this another one of those things that's only available in Japanese? I always hated the idea of a new species but cuttlings are the only exception, but it might be hard to implement them into lore because alterna logs said nothing about cuttlings and the only info we have about them (in game) is an old octo expansion magazine but we've known about octolings and have seen models of them as far back as splatoon one.
Same
I don’t really trust alternate’s resources that much. We don’t how big it and how reliable they are I’m not saying their lying about everything just not satisfied
Only a idea on how they could look like
What if the octolings were secretly cuttlefish this whole time
eh i’d hardly believe that. it just doesn’t make that much sense to me
:0
I'm so sorry that 2/3 replies couldn't tell that you are joking.
@agent 8 nice **squid** form, agent 8
Here, have 69 likes
Simple explanation: cuddlings are just considered a sub-species of inklings, being grouped in with them in the alterna logs
Makes sense on why there's not squidlings
If cuttlefish ever become a playable species, I think cuttlekids is a better name than cuttlings
Literally
I hope there's buildup to this. Octolings had a great buildup to them. I think it's because of their buildup that I adore them. I kinda don't care if we get cuttlefish or not rn
I don't like how those Cuttlefish Idols are impossible to distinguish from Inklings. If there are going to be a playable Cuttlefish race, then they *need* to be immediately distinguishable from Inklings and Octolings, and I don't know exactly how that can be done, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done.
And you can see the squid sisters squid form in Mario Maker 1 so that is another reason why they are inklings.
What if, since both Cuttlefishes and Squids sport 10 limbs, both Cuttlelings and Squidlings are classified as Inklings?
this makes complete sense, theyre closely related IRL as well
From what I’ve seen, Callie and Marie are actually Firefly Squids, or Minecraft Glow Squids! I believe this because, during Splatoon 1 and 3’s Splatfests, their tentacles glow!
Yeah.
It’s that simple.
I really want the ability to pick alternate Squid/Octo species.
SIDE ORDER EITHER THAT OR SALMONLINGS
Edit: I would just like to say, I did not look on the Splatoon Wiki for this fact, but rather deduced it myself. As I am something of a dunce, I may not get everything right. However, I did just look at the wiki, and it says the following:
"In the dark, either during a Splatfest or certain Octo Valley missions, the player's Inkling will glow brightly in humanoid form, lighting up the area immediately around them and helping to differentiate the player from other Inklings."
After some fact checking, I have determined the accuracy of this statement to be sound.
Solution to the origin: Octolings and Inklings mingled after being integrated into their society.
I'm confused, how do we know those idols in the magazine were cuddlelings? They look like normal inklings to me.
people forgot the first word in "squid sisters"?!
Actually, Agent 8 isn't an agent; it's a shortened version of Number 10,008, the name given to them by Tartar. Cuttlefish just shortens it to Agent 8.
@@taiyaki_emu Oh I thought 10,008 was amount of agents there where lol. My mistake than.
@Jaxelotl I know.
Captain cuttlefish is just his localized name.
@@ExplosiveGrape It's alright.
What if cuttlelings were the friends we made on the way
I mean, what else could be added?
Squid sisters are based on a squid commonly confused for cuttlefish, and people still don’t recognize that fact. How is this community?
I mean, they could always be chilling elsewhere in the world, since Off The Hook is supposed to be on a world tour rn. Maybe they're French
Wait I never realized that other people had this idea this is so cool
I don't care about salmonlings/ playable normal salmonid, I want to main Fly Fish
Please no
*can we just say that the hat is like a deformed inkling*
2:52 - 3:00 I don't know "Riz". That sounds a lot like something a cuttlefish would say.
Am I missing something? Why is he so mad about cuttleings?
I have no idea it makes a lot of sense
I don't want the number of races to get overloaded. I think Octolings and Inklings are enough. We really don't need more..
There’s only 3 main coleoidea which is inklings for squids and octolings for well octopuses and finally it’s makes sense if their going by this route then cuttlelings or cuddelings (if that’s their name in the main game hypothetically) are cuttlefish
Am I the only one that doesn’t want a third playable species 😭
Same
No you’re not
Did you know captain cuttlefish his name is Craig Cuttlefish i figure out checking the sunken scrolls
I really wanna play as a cuttlefish
Ever time someone say the SQUID sisters are cuttlefish because “their ears are longer than inklings,” cuttlefish is a cuttlefish because “his name is cuttlefish,” hell even the EXISTENCE of cuttlefish, i want to shove a coffin down my throat and set myself on fire. The only reason people think cuddlings exist in splatoon is because of captain cuttlefish (which is supposed to be a joke) and the squid sister’s ears. Now im pretty sure people have better reasons than what i’ve heard of, but i’m starting to wonder if a new species is really even necessary(which I totally wont complain about) but if there is i hope it’s something that arent “cuddlings” or “salmonings”
Sorry for the rant TL;DR: cuddlings probably dont exist because the reasoning is kinda poor
3:47 ain’t no way he just called splatoon a kids game 💀
When the kids game is called a kids game
@@PRINTORO By that logic every game is a kids game.
when the kids game about humanity dying from somebody nuking the south pole, a robot that's been left for 12,000 years going psychopathic from being lonely for so long blending people up, and giant bears running shady companies is called a kids game:
Splatoons target audience is children but can still be enjoyed by anyone. It’s not a controversial statement
My bad I didn’t mean it like that, I’m sorry rizz rone
My niece insists that Callie and Marie are cuttlefish and it annoys the heck out of me.
I feel so sorry for you
It’s not to late to yeet the child
What would happen the liquid liquid effect mammals/land insects and arachnids?
I think the main appeal of playable octolings sort of has to do with how they’ve been a part of the series since the first game, even though the amount of focus they get is minimum at best. Not to mention the fact that they already had an eye texture that we never get to see in game and could have their ink color changed. It’s the perfect setup for internet rumors.
Cuttlefish really have no significance in the series apart from one characters name, and a theory that’s just wrong.
I don’t have much faith in cuttlelings becoming part of the series. Could be cool though
oh boy cant wait for a new playable race every splatoon games DLC
This one has to be about a cuddling stuck in TSA, before being named agent 6 and also they have to defuse a bomb put on that big tower in paris (I forgot what it was called but you know the one)
Craig cuttlefish is half inkling and half cuttlefish, trust me bro
Captain Cuttlefish’s cuttle bones must hate that he’s stuck as a squid now
1:42
Not even in a video you're safe from communication errors
We still have no idea what Grizz wanted with Craig's brain. Maybe he, or whoever the villain of the DLC is gonna, is gonna create a race of super soldiers (Cuttlelings) using the dna of the two greatest great turf war soldiers: Craig and Octavio. They could also reuse the octarian models by giving them Craigs facial.....tentacles....hair....goatee...thing
The squid sisters alternate form, the cuddle cousins
"Oh BuT tHE CuttLe Bo-" MY BROTHER IN [your prefered diety] IT'S A DAD JOKE.
If they do get implemented into the game i hope its kinda like the octolings but different. Copied homework but the answer are changed so much you cant tell.
I hope we can get the cephalopod quad together. And what I mean by that is that we get nautiluses as playable species. But then gnarly end axed that idea…
i think it’ll be funny if the squid sisters were neither sisters nor squids. that’s all i have to say
i mean they are actually cousins for starters
I really dislike the idea of playable cuttlefish, for some reason it just seems cheap to me. We've seen octolings throughout all the splatoon games and had an entire game before they were playable where they had a significant presence. If they do make cuttlelings a thing, I would prefer they do something different than what they did with the octolings.
I would love jellylings as a third playable race that could have been made from inter species relationships of squids/Octos and jellies
maybe the cuttlefish just died out during the great turf war or whatever and then the dlc is about something trying to bring them back which is why they just magically exist again
RIZIRONE IS A CUTTLEFISH GUYS! HES LYING TO YOU
what if the cuttlelings were the friends we made along the way? 🥹
What if the real cuttlelings were the friends we made along the way
Ngl, I want to see a dlc focused on the salmonids with a playable salmonid race.
Theyre simply not different in any way to warrant an expansion dedicated to them
I knew callie, marie, and capn cuttle fish weren't cuttle fish bc they look like squids AND nintendo has ADMITTED their species in an interview once upon a time.
captain's cuttle bones?
I do not want another species PLEASE the octolings need more hairstyles still
I hope Captain Cuttlefish does turn out to be a cuttlefish just to see if you'll follow through lol
maybe cuttlelings live in calamari county?
The other morning I was playing thus game and I saw a rizirone. I thought that it was just a fake or something and moved till I watched this video and in the second match there I am. I'm SakuraCow on the green team
İ want punk salmonlings in dlc so much i will be so dissapointed if new race will be cuttlefish
i’m ending it all if cuttlelings become playable
1:00 What if these "cuttlelings" are just inklings posing as cuttlelings for attention? 🤔
I really like the idea of cuttlelings but if they become and actual thing I hope they pull a “idol looks different from the rest of the species” except it’s the rest of the species that looks different from inklings
what if all of the cuttlefish allusions in the visual design of the game / background elements is a smoke-screen for any future ink-kid options they want to add.
they could represent a development in-joke of "cut content" / being "cut" from the game etc
honestly the next hairstyles / next dlc character should be a rabbit with a tofu gun /s
If cuddling are real I hope we see more of them in the future in the game
Lmao, cuttlelings clearly just come from a different country that we'll see in the DLC when we go with Pearl and Marina on a world tour.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
I'll lose my mind if the squid sisters are cuttlefish because that means they wasted the oportunity of having an awesome new cuttlefish species by making them look exactly like the damn squids.
captain cuttlefish is a cuddlefish squid
I'm ready to wait forever for a playable salmonid
i wish cuttlefish could cuttlebone me
I hope they make cuttlefish are very real playable race just to piss you off
Not to be that guy, but . . . Captain is misspelled in the description.
Maybe they have there own city
Everyone: playable Cuttlefish or Salmon
Me: playable Manta ray? (I know it will never happen but I can dream right?)
Here is one unironic comment about cuttlefish's cuttlebones
Hot take: I’d rather have salmonlings than cuttelings (frylings, as I call them). I have a entire dlc plot about them living in my brain, if anybody’s interested I’ll braindump in the replies lol
I would like to hear about it!
Share... gimme...
That….took a *VERY* long time to write…if you have any ideas pls share
I doubt we’ll get a new race. Though if we got a new race I’d rather have Mantalings than Cuddlings.
Okay, now I can't typing the comment about cuttlefish. :l
Also side note, they just localized every single one of the Splatoon 2 band members' names
Edit: I looked it up and yup, it comes from Haikara Walker.
Maybe since they're localizing band names, maybe Haikara Walker 2 will be in English too? 👉🥺👈
Isnt it weird how their last name is cuttlefish tho?
Is like if someone born in japan and not dark skinned had afroamerican as his/her last name.
splatoon does not need a third player type, that is final
1:42 lol
????
I thought captain cuttlefish WAS a cuttlefish??
It’s his name??
