Meditation is not for gaining any occult power or Siddhi etc. The pure and unconditioned purpose of the science of Yoga is Jivan Mukti or the liberation of the Soul from the bodily/material desires and to attend to that state of Sata Chita Anand (The supreme spiritual bliss). That state of Mukti is beyond our conditioned mind! I could see the westerners (For Yoga there is no East or West but all one integrated Universe) are being more fascinated with occult powers or siddhi or magical capabilities instead of the sublime purpose of the Yoga!. Here is the difference between the East and the West!. Here in India, we are seeking only the "Truth" sincerely, while, in the west they go more on the empirical way of gains!.
