    Ingredients
    Rice kheer
    1/2 cup Long grained Rice( soaked and drained)
    1.5 lt milk
    1 tbsp vanilla custard powder/ cornflour
    Few strands of saffron
    2 green cardamons
    1 cup sugar
    2 tbsp golden raisins
    Garnish
    Almond flakes
    Fresh fragrant rose petals
    Method
    Heat milk in a pan and retain few table spoons of milk for later use.
    Add long grain rice that is soaked in water for half an hour in water after draining the access water. In order to make the kheer thick, break few long grain rice in to small pieces.
    Allow the rice to cook in the milk. Once the milk starts to thicken, add sugar, seeds of cardamon, few strands of saffron and golden raisins
    In order to thicken the milk, mix vanilla custard powder/ cornflour in few table spoons of milk and add this mixture to the kheer.
    Kheer is ready to be served. Garnish it with almond flakes, seeds of cardamon, few strands of saffron and fresh fragrant rose petals.

    actually yes kheer is made with short grained rice and the consistency should be such that the rice is completely over cooked i mean it should be a bit mashy.. because thats what gives kheer a soft thickening and then there would be no need to add corn starch

    Instead of broken /full long rice grains, I used ground basmati rice (not powder). I added cardamom powder & charoli. Rest I followed your recipe. Turned out delicious. Thank you.

    Thanks just made this with slight alterations: brown sugar and half the amount suggested, half the amount of milk, boiled rice beforehand

    hey@chef loved the idea of custard but as it has vanilla flavor I would prefer cornstarch as don't want the fragrance of vanilla in my kher, n using Caedmons powder will be best 😇 I don't like anything comes between me n my kheer you see😋

    Is vanilla custard Milk veg? Because Some contain powdered egg. Instead of adding that take a emersionblender and blend a bit.
