Happy to see a bass synth pedal review where they use the low B string. That frequency seems to give a lot of pedals some issues like the Synth 9 pedal (granted, that's made for guitar).
That this thing handles fretless basses as well as it does is genuinely incredible. As others have said, the note tracking is usually what kills these synth pedals, and the C4 is crushing it even under the fretless stress test :) I want one haha
The tracking is ridiculously good. I had high hopes for this one and frankly, source audio did an amazing job. It even tracks a low A string basically without any latency. It's astonishing.
I remember piping my bass through a Bass Pod XT's synth options and simultaneously being blown away and supremely disappointed. The tracking was just this endless wobble if you so much as thought about wiggling your fretting finger. When you somehow got it to be clean though, it was amazing being able to control a synth with a fretless jazz bass. I think this pedal is what I would really want for a bass synth.
Amazing! I want one! Polyphonic and able to track all those super-fast runs you're playing flawlessly! This gem pretty much blows it's competition away!
uhhh, you should really peep the banana matryoshka pedal, it is far superior to this pedal I my opinion, though for some reason I feel like I e will have both...
The perfect, most useful complement to a fretless. Damn you. Good news though. I'm in Indiana and even worked for Sweetwater 15 years ago. When I buy, I'll use the affiliate links.
Sounds incredible. I really wish it could store more than 6 presets, but 6 is better than none, I suppose (like on the Boss SY-1). I'm really looking for those classic 80's fat bass synth sounds with the shorter staccato attack (i.e. Devo, A-Ha, etc). Can this get me there?
Fantastic sounds. Now what I don't like about pedals is I have to bend and tweak knobs to change sound. You not gonna play one sound all the time are you?
This pedal should really be called 'AKA Daft Punk' 2:38-3:22 Is such a mindbending riff #ILoveIt This video was very entertaining esp your admission about getting carried away- But it's still a good sales pitch!! \m/
Enshulllsigung Mr gaemen fellas Does the boss sy1 not do all this and more including exiting electric blue colour , not that mouldy old grey colour of that thingymibob
Practical question: If I have switching control like ES5 or ES8 can I control presets of this pedal by cable 5 Pin Midi to 3,5 Jack ? Or I need in the Source Audio NeuroHub in the middle?
Guitar to bass is usually fairly easy to do. Most octave pedals (or whammy pedals) would work well for this The Boss OC3 (using poly mode) is an excellent choice for this sound. “No Roots” by Alice Merton is a good example of a song that uses this effect.
OMG I laught so hard on this! AWESOME! I MUST VISIT THOMAN NEXT MONTH! How this pedal will sound together with my darkglass alpha omicron, mxr m87 hompressor and darkglass microtubes x7?
All those Super Mario sounds don't impress me, All I want is a Bass synth pad to follow the notes I play on Bass guitar. I still want to hear the complete dry bass signal but with the synth part underneath it, that's only for the solo of Comfortably numb,. Only other alternative would be bass pedals midi'ed to my synth module. But I'm not Geddy Lee, I just want to play 1 instrument at a time. So bottom line is, can this pedal just do that? I don't need all the widdly, Moog style stuff, I'm not playing Jazz funk, or Hard Techno.
I've been playing bass for like four days, so I'm definitely just looking wide-eyed and with no sense of what works. Could you pair this with a talkbox or something? Im a gamer at heart so making my bass sound like an arcade machine is awesome, making it sound like an arcade machine that's talking to me is just...man, I don't wanna learn bass, I just wanna goof around with that lololol
I like this pedal, but have to disagree with the title of this post. The most amazing sythn pedal is the Akai SB-1 Deep Impact pedal. It was manufacturered in the 1980's and has been discontinued for many years.

I'm a long time FI user. Been using a C4 for awhile. If you can only afford one then the C4. For me....I'm keeping both on my board. The FI is incredible and can do things the C4 cannot, and visa-versa.
show of hands please: How many of you would appreciate 4k videos?
for me enought 0.5k
4k audio?
1080p is fine as is
1080p is good
keeping it 1080p for me is just fine. I think few of us are able to playback 4k videos anyway lol
Killer playing, Ilja!
Thank you for the laughs and shoutout, Gregor!
Hey Nathan, they said the first synth-bass patch (about 23 seconds into the video) was made by you. Which one is that?
@@SeanMichaelRay Hey! The preset is "Gated Acid Bass." In the Neuro App, go to Community // Search // Search Title // gated acid bass. :)
🤘
Nate, I’m not surprised that your finger prints are all over this lol

Yours and Nathan's were the videos that ultimately made me get this pedal. I'm in love with it.
Do I need this for what I do musically in my band. Hell no. Do I want one for my bedroom to mess around with. Hell Yes
That this thing handles fretless basses as well as it does is genuinely incredible. As others have said, the note tracking is usually what kills these synth pedals, and the C4 is crushing it even under the fretless stress test :) I want one haha
Hey it tracks surprisingly well! Rubbish tracking is usually the thing that puts me off synth pedals but this one has my attention... 🧐
The tracking is ridiculously good. I had high hopes for this one and frankly, source audio did an amazing job. It even tracks a low A string basically without any latency. It's astonishing.
How is your experience with tracking when you play (fast) octaves?
Wait, Germans aren't supposed to have fun
we recorded this abroad
@@basstheworldofficial Very good by you!
I thought they could have fun with slingshots.
This guy hasn't been to berlin
so this pedal transforms you into the bands Kraftwerk and Daft Punk. I kinda dig it :D
And Muse maybe?
sounds like technologic.

I LOVE IT! Just fun for people who don't take themselves to seriously. I can totally use this.
Ha. "Sorry for this". I love the honest fact
PLEASE! which setup you used in this video? are incredible!!! please give me the names of the preset THANKS!
Excellent work, very enjoyable and great demos. Thank you!

can i use it with my micrropone ... i would like to sing synth
You’d need to hook up a fantom power mic to a source then that source to the pedal and I think it would work. Or just get a talk box
That stairway to heaven version is waaaaay to much FUN! :DDD
How about combining this baby with the darkglass alpha omega?
Bass the world is the best source of bass effect education
0:46 I can hear Axel F lol
FINALLY someone noticed! :)
@@basstheworldofficial Lol
That thing is great!!...but can you say "Get to the chopper!"?
I can be crazy, but it also is very useful... Auto wah, phasor, tremolo, vibrato, volume swell, all easily controlled by a cv pedal...
I think the Boss synth Pedal you featured recently was far better
Wow bro. That was pretty rad. I'm truly impressed!
Totally bonkers, love it

What are we saying compared to the Future Impact? Weighing up the two and not sure which way to go!
This here is sort of the „new“ future impact. Smaller, more sounds. I’d go for the C4
Is it possible to contrôle 2 Source Audio pedals (atlas Compressor And Spectrum) with it ? Thanks
I would need a bass synth pedal that can replicate the bass/synth sound from Lenny Kravitz - little girl's eyes, any recommendations?
I want to run this pedal in parallel with a Korg G5 Bass Synthesizer, I can see great potential here.
Nose is growing.... lol
Can you get closer to Moog-like Bass-synth sounds from this vs. a Boss Oc-2 ? How good does it track? Appreciate any input.
Yes this one here is much more capable and the tracking is stunning
@@basstheworldofficial Thanks. Appreciate your input. oNe LovE from NYC
With two or three of these you could just make wild techno on the spot
wow this is wild. thanks for showcasing it!
3:03 daaaaammmnnnnnnnn!
Fantastic pedal! Please... What kind of strings (black) are on the bass? Thanks for your good work & greetings from Barcelona!
Those are black Nylons by La Bella
@@basstheworldofficial Danke schön!!
Amazing tool.
"das ist fantastisch!"
Indeed 🙂
Personally, I prefer playing with a good Envelope Filter Effect on the bass, versus a Bass Synth.
The fun thing is, this does the envelope filter part as well. It has two separate filters that you can simply use as "normal" autowah style filter.
This is an env filt
The C4 can load any preset that the Spectrum can load. It's an envelope filter if you want it to be
2:36 the BEST bass pedal
We've finally invented gear that can actually play itself.
This could be really fun to play over some electro or jungle beats
Any feedback on how this performs with guitar? Is it designed for bass only?
Doing well with guitar but not all sounds are polyphonic
I have a C4 and I love it! Can you tell me which synth-bass patch that was at 23 seconds into the video?
this patch was made by Nathan Navarro. I don't remember the exact name, sorry
@@MyBassistChris Thanks Chris!
With this, i will make every single jazz song wt school into a snarky puppy tune

i love that distorted squelches
Great candid review! I love it! Still don't like the pedal that much, but was fun to watch!

2:38-3:22 Is such a mindbending riff #ILoveIt This video was very entertaining esp your admission about getting carried away- But it's still a good sales pitch!! \m/
Were all of the bass guitars used in the video fretless?
Nope
Is it sensitive to new or old strings?
Do you know what preset gave you the Stairway sequence? XD

I don’t know about that, sorry. But I’m sure the Source Audio guys will gladly help you with that question
rsmith601 thanks, your pedal is really big champion in synt division
Can i use batteries for portability?
No
Hello 'BTW', I'm looking for a guitar-to-bass synthesizer, do you have any recommendations in respects to that type of pedal?

The Boss OC3 (using poly mode) is an excellent choice for this sound.
“No Roots” by Alice Merton is a good example of a song that uses this effect.

Lovely sounds!!
I wonder if paired with a boss ls2 if something like this would work without getting lost in the mix?
Trying to craft a dream tone lmao
Does it handle active basses well?
Yes
Where's René?! He'd be all over this! 😟
Anyone has this pedal? How does it behave at high speeds? Good tracking?
