Great topic! Why are you single? My boomer response: "I've never really been happy in a partner relationship. I enjoy my alone time. I enjoy my friends. I prefer being single because I no longer have illusions about how much work partner relationships take. I'd rather focus on things that bring me joy." The biggest hurdle for me in getting to this point was the belief that IF I just found the "right" partner, I'd be happy in a relationship. After years of pursuing this dream, I found myself very content in my life and no longer wanting to trade the happiness I'd found for the constant navigation/boundary setting & negotiation required in a partnership. Life is simple, peaceful, fulfilling and joyful now. I think a lot of people my age feel this way.
I think I am finally feeling the same way. I am tired of partnerships. They wear me out and rarely give me what I need or want. Once the first flush of romance is over relationships become the sort of work that distracts me from other parts of my life. The statistics support what I know from experience: men do not put in the same amount of work that women do. They are not as prepared for the work, so they need convincing and I just don't want to do that any more. It takes all the joy out of being with that person. I don't want to persuade, convince, argue, fawn or anything else. I just don't want them around any more. They are just too difficult to bother with. Yes maybe it's the sort of men I'm attracted to, but I don't really care any more. Partnerships do not live up to their hype, ever.
It's challenging to meet agreeable, compatible or fun to be with people and mutual attraction at any age or stage of your life. LABT or live apart but together could be seen by many as living a life as single.Thank you Susan!!!
THANK YOU for talking about it! it's been two years that I travel alone on every vacation, and we are penalized for being alone. At restaurants, they give us the worst tables, couples turn hostile like we were a danger(especially woman, look at me like I was doing something wrong or would "steal" their man right there) I am just living my life, enjoying the time I planned and paid for, and society seems to not agree at all with that, I mean... grow up people!

Strongly disagree about no drugs no crime - the people who use drugs in places where it is heavily criminalised are often in gaol. Drugs exist on a spectrum and some people have been saved by drugs though it is difficult for them to tell their stories when it is illegal.

In most countries where murder is low they just need to outlaw guns. Also want to add the Netherlands is an example of a country where decriminalisation of drugs has been successful. And note that I am not anti-Singapore.
Not by choice. I’ve been trying for years to meet a good man I’m compatible with. I’m turning 38 this year and I doubt anything will change. I didn’t want to live my life single. I always dreamed of having a beautiful and healthy relationship. All I get is men sexualizing and just wanting one thing even though I don’t dress or behave that way. Its so sad, that I’ve done things right and never get appreciated.

All of the smart successful women I know are single. The solo supplement on cruise ships is irritating las year I booked a friend on and then they just didnt show up-best way around it saved around 25%
I don't drink because I grew up with an alcoholic father and I saw what that can do to a man and his family. Then I learned that President Trump doesn't drink because his brother Fred died because of alcoholism and that just made my choice even firmer. I admire Donald Trump as a businessman. Then earlier this month, my brother fell from an open vehicle and passed away. He lacked sleep then drank that morning before he went to do some chores. He fell asleep on the way and lost his grip then fell. I am single by choice. I want to be with people who can reciprocate my feelings and my status. As I've heard from a conversation in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, "I'd prefer to spend my energies on creating things of beauty." I'm an artist and a designer by trade.

The point of seeking providers is not non sense and you're the living proof of a person that had to not choose motherhood for her career. Life is not easy for women either.
