- Attention, Croc fans! Exciting news awaits us with the official announcement of Croc HD game on the horizon. Before we dive into the new adventure I wanted to let you know that any further development on my fan-made Croc Legend of the Gobbos game will be coming to a close.
I wanted to take a moment to share some of the work done with you.
As a dedicated solo developer, I invested my limited spare time in crafting and meticulously designing characters and mechanics to pay homage to the game that holds a special place in my heart. Join me as we celebrate the timeless spirit of Croc together, eagerly anticipating the arrival of Croc HD!

You and the Croc HD devs should consider teaming up! That is, if there is mutual interest. You did lovely work on a childhood classic!
You just know the official remake will look soulless, ugly and probably stylized in a way where it doesn’t reflect the originals charm, as this video does
Sadly a common story. It does take special talent to remaster an old game while preserving the soul.

@@DamnZtar those remakes lacked a lot of the soul and charm the originals had. Just look at how bad the spy boxes are in the Spyro remake.

Argonaut should have hired you. Companies should be promoting fan projects, not discouraging them.
I just want to say, I really appreciate the amount of effort, time and work you put into this! Of course, with the announcement of an official Croc HD, it's understandable why you're choosing to discontinue it now (too bad most of the other commenters didn't read the description...), so thanks for sharing your own vision of a Croc 1 remake! Seriously, the way you made it look (especially Croc, himself), I hope the official product looks even half as good! :)
Well, if they are open to an all-new sequel in the future, you should apply as a developer!

this gives me so much joy, its so fluid, clean, the sound effects are great too, ive always loved the kapow and the bluh that sounds like a turkey when he gets hit
Returning back to this one, I see most of the users still haven't read the description.
Folks, the person who worked on this decided to stop once the official HD remake/remaster/whatever was announced. Unless they've been working on it in secret, there won't be any more updates. 😅
(Which is a shame, since I still really like the designs & whatnot in this fan remake. Regardless of how the official one turns out, a part of me still would've enjoyed playing this anyway.)

@@TKize777 Of course, which is why it was a smart idea to cease its development immediately. There's too much of a risk continuing it now.
Despite that, I still wish I could've at least played a demo of this though... especially now, given that the official product is just a remaster after all.

The only imperfect thing from the Croc movements is that the physics are too heavy, except that, this is amazing.

This really is everything I could have ever hoped for. I really hope that the official one lives up to what you are doing here and honestly watching this project progress has been giving me hope. You have been doing a beyond amazing job. Everything looks so good, the details, the animations are next level. Honestly you should be hired to work on the actual game.
Well, time to say what i've seen on this
- Improved Croc animation, included closing eyes, ice skating and tail movement
- Added dantini's death animation and Demon Dantinis laugh animation
- Improved swimming mechanic
- Old enemies and some things in a new design
Since the 2 years ago, you worked so hard in this and is really incredible, great work dude.
Croc is amazing
Damn that looks really great, and while I'm happy we're finally getting an official and fully fledged remake, it's sad we wont be getting more of your work.
One thing that I'm wondering then is if you have any plans on making what you got done on the project open source and sharing the models.
I assume you might be avoiding sharing those to not have any legal issue, in case the team working on Croc HD doesn't appreciate it.
Maybe something in-between? (Open sourcing and only sharing the models that can't cause issues, like excluding Croc and the Gobbos - that could maybe be cool for modders when the new project comes out)
Hell yeah let's go!!! This looks really promising, you nailed it. Maybe make the flying up with the balloon part a tad slower that's all that caught my attention. Can't wait to see more!!
This is so awesome! Love the additional Spyro-style enemy death animations! Only thing I would change is the way Croc jumps; I much preferred the Croc 1 style jumping to Croc 2 which I think this reminds me of. Can't wait for more content!

I think you should work on the jumping/air physics a bit more, it looks stiff in that area
otherwise this looks really good so far!!! though i miss the goofy blinking with the eyes themselves just squishing

Shame you're going to put a stop on this, but i hope the developers take some notes/inspiration from your version, this was well made, would of been interesting had you got to doing the bosses, but at least our voices have been heard for a remake/remaster, see you when it's properly announced.

The CROC franchise no longer has copyright holders, right? In this case, would it be possible to sell this Fan-Game when finished?
Expect Jez himself who still has the rights to Croc and is officially working on an HD remaster/remake of Croc which is currently in early development since early June last year.
Also the development of the fan remake has stopped now that there’s a Croc HD remaster/remake in development as stated in the description
