Operation Makara 3: Peacekeepers Under Fire in Africa | October 2021

  • In October 2021, a patrol from the Long Range Reconnaissance Group was engaged by an enemy force whilst deployed on the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Mali. Whilst this engagement was small in scope, it marked the first time since the end of operations in Afghanistan in 2014 that British troops, outside of the Special Forces, had come under fire.

    Seeing as we're on the topic of Mali, could a video on the operations of Task Force Takuba be possible? It would be quite interesting to see other European countries get some well-deserved time in the spotlight.

      1st the queens dragoon guards are the Oldest cavalry regiment in the British army , most deployed regiment in the British army ( obviously not including SF ) smallest regiment in the army , fought in the big 3 battles of Britain , Blenheim , Waterloo and El Alamein . First cavalry regiment to take over the BRF role . C squadron earned the right to wear commando daggers after the battle of Basra with the royal marines in 2003 ( last battle honour ) they helped out when the Las Vegas concert shooting happened . These are some of the best soldiers in the world at what they do.

      They were outmanoeuvred: They tried to evade the British while on their bike; when that didn't work, they tried to dismount and go to ground, while setting up an improvised ambush. Probably because local forces would not dare to approach such an ambush. The British did. And they carefully triggered the ambush, forcing the two men to give away their location. The attackers tried what had worked in the past against less professional forces than the British Army. A lot of people have done so in history 😀

    • @SwitchTF2
      @SwitchTF2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They might have. It's difficult to believe that every "insurgent" is not just some peasant in the wrong place at the wrong time. You also assume that the official report is true. That is not a good assumption to make. The report was written by British officers, if anything untoward happened you would not see it recorded.

      If its in pounds, why would it then be paid for by tax dollars... also its not like the equipment isn't used over and over.. all that was used here was some fuel and a tiny bit of ammo.
