Where do you see Waqar fitting in? Razzaq and Azhar both can bat very well. There simply was no room for Waqar in 1999, and his pace was dropping after injury. Its so easy to say he was benched because of politics, but the team is in front of you. Who would you take out to put in Waqar? Wasim is Captain, Shoaib is express, Azhar and Razzaq both were in amazing form and can bat well.

I really respect Wasim for what he has done for Cricket and for Pak. Cricket. However, when the current team win the toss and take a decision which backfires at them, why does everyone start bashing BABAR, don't they know that there is a thinktank behind this whole decision at that time?
I don't think Wasim has a problem with criticism as such. He has a problem with people giving it a fixing angle. When Pakistan under Babar Azam lost in the T20 WC final or even when they lost to India this panel was very gracious.

Aamir Sohail was not there. It was Salim Malik who was with the team he asked Wasim to bowl 1st because of overcast conditions but the whole team wanted to Bat 1st. And rightly so Pakistan was pathetic in chase in 1999 World Cup. Lost every match chasing except the semifinal.

I only have questions. What exactly did pak team learn from 2019 WC to 2023 WC. Answer is nothing. They are out of both WC based on nrr. This is why other teams even when they know they ll lose, they play their entire overs.
Justice Qayyum report - enough said. Wasim Akram was not allowed to be in any position of authority after this report - to this day he cannot be a coach of PCB for this same reason. Any person of integrity would have resigned in such a scenrio if he was not guilty.

I remember that match very well. We could see the lack of effort by the Pakistan side. It was a clearly a fixed match. Politicians, players and bookies were involved, ref an infamous so called journalist Mubashir Luqman. Wasim has had 20 years to come up with an explanation. He will obviously defend his actions.

tou bhai waqar younis jaise main bolwer ko pora tournament aik match khelaya that was against BD and he bowled well, was he unfit or was out of from before WC? He deliberatrly uses prefer shoaib over waqar to overshadow waqar prominence as right arm fast bolwer.
Shoaib was express and very effective. Waqar had lost his pace in 1999 due to injury. Wasim, Shoaib, Azhar and Razzaq. Really no place for Waqar as Azhar and Razzaq were in top form and can bat well.
Still it was very unusual to bat first when it was raining whole day before the match something didnt seem right
That game against Bangladesh was clearly fixed. Big money was made on bets.

1999= got to the final , we beat australia in the group stage, but batting collapse and lost the final.
2003= out of the group stage.
2007= out of the group stage.
2011= lost in the semi final to india
2015= lost in the quarter finals to Australia
2019= out of the group stage
2023= out of the group stage
the sudden two world cups in a row out of the group stage is not on. and both times. selection issues. controversary.
2019= fakhar , imad and one other player i think malik was in reserves and everyone said include them and they included em.
this time: we went with no prep. test series vs srilanka .... lankan league :S ..... odi series vs afghanistan.... asia cup..... back to back to back and two weeks and then world cup .... with two players in the team who have played less than 5 odis i think . Saud and Abdullah, Hasan Ali picked over many other bowlers who .... anyway. no correction of mistakes of not having a spinner in middle overs. didnt even pick Abrar.
even our media criticized shoaib akhter a lot , sometimes waqar and wasim , sometimes we dropped younas khan , we had a list of openers who were goood but we also criticized afridi a match winner.
we can give constructive criticism. like the weakness of 1999 team the only weakness was of that group of players that too many egos. rather than playing for the team.

Wasim is one of the biggest gamblers in the history of cricket. WANT PROOF: since he used to open the bowling, just watch complete highlights of his matches, almost every match in which he bowled the first ball WIDE or three wides in the first over of Pakistan's bowling spell, Pakistan never won that match. The wide was a single to bookies. Definitely, the wides and losing those matches are not a coincidence. Also, read Justice Quyyum's report.
Maybe he was tempted by the high life that his hero, Imran khan lived. The problem was Imran khan came from a rich family & glamour was already part of his life. Wasim needed money to achieve that.
Justice Qayyum report is a different thing. Wasim bowled 3 wides in a row in Carlton & United 2nd final 1996-1997 and Pakistan won it easily. The wides he ever bowled in the start of his first over was just the less control of big swing.
