    He is a genius. He’s one of the great ones-Dylan, Springsteen, Swift-the only difference is they are well known for their ability. Isbell is critically acclaimed, but not as publicly known. Which as a fan is great for me. It’s hard enough to get tickets sometimes without fighting the Taylor Swift type madness. I’m just happy that I became aware. Everyone that witnesses his craft is blessed by it.

    For an artist if Isbell’s stature to do a sing/play along with a bunch of guitar students is so cool. IMO there’s no
    One better out there today.

      @cdane7 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      There’s not. But it isn’t just today. Isbell is one of the greatest artists to ever pick up an instrument and put pen to paper. He’ll be on the Mount Rushmore of songwriters before he’s through.

      Maybe he does his best to avoid it as he doesn't want it that intensely much world over/country/state over from others. Just wants to talk, sing, play and entertain and live a normal as possible life whilst having made other people happy and hopefully himself also happy in every aspect of his life.

    Only Jason Isbell with his lack of ego would be humble enough to pull off something like this! Cause let’s face it, if there is one performer out there today that should have an ego just based on the material that he puts out, it’s this man! Thank you for being so humble and staying true to the music

    Jason's songwriting is stellar and you picture each of the lyrics... Perfection, muwahhh. I can picture every beautifully placed word & Amanda, a writer herself with fine arts education as well as the touch with words... She's the the final arbiter. She is amazing as well. Has her own band "Highwomen". They did a great doc on HBO that really told their story alongside his. Candy Jar series. The singer songwriter along wears his life on his sleeve... His honesty only enhances & complement his brilliance as a guitar player... The band 400unit who we just saw was a dream come true! (missed you Amanda but we'll get there one day soon)And still, unforgettable memories for our lifetimes. As we enter our last decades, we are grateful that that the musician/singer/songwriter with harmonies that needs no auto tune is returning. With artists that care to let us all feel part of it all. Thank you Jason, Amanda, 400unit&The Highwomen (shout out to Brandi Carlile) on the forefront.... Our worries that music was leading away from their roots are totally gone. They are the real deal, deep, flawed and beautiful. Thank you for honoring John Prine & Jerry Jeff Walker by returning your lifetime cards to country music for leaving them out of in memorium. There's no country music without those two. Couldn't see you enough. Thank you for taking our souls for a truly amazing ride every single time... Amanda was asked the diff btwn a fiddle and a violin. She said something like it's a fiddle when you play it & a violin when you sell it. Keep it going kids, it matters! ❤

    This is great, and the best part (for me) is that Isbell references Thin Lizzy as one of his Dad’s favourites. Best band there ever was. It just reassures me that great music is timeless and is passed down along the line. Great to see the audience participating and practicing with their instruments too, that genuinely brought a tear to my eye.
