True, it was not so long ago.
Tamilnadu sambar is on bitter side. It will not suit to kannadigas.
Typical Bangaloreans add a piece of jaggery for food which gives slight sweetish touch. Each region has its flavour and comparing it might not be good approach.

And just because Jayalalitha was born in karnataka you conveniently named her as kannadiga unashamedly. There are so many Tamilians living in karnataka for ages who don't call themselves as kannadigas as we are proud of our identity. Recently went to an iconic restaurant in Bangalore covered by you. Dosa was a bit hard and Masal inside was ok in taste. Sambar was sweet. Think you have to acquire a taste for this style of preparation. So different from Chennai. For Idli Sambar I will still rate Ratna Cafe in Chennai as #1
Each Hotel would have its own uniqueness in taste. If you need something spicy please try Shashi Bidadi Idli centre in JP Nagar. You may like the food there.

You will not find the dosa like karnataka in Tamilnadu. You people are not to use the masala of karnataka, we do not use tamil typed masala. we use coconut for chutney and masala preperations . It depends on the tropical and people taste.
