    Windows down, top off (if possible), heat blasting, and a hot cup of coffee in winter is an amazing thing. 10/10.

    The car is cool the way it is, but you could put the AMG body kit on it and those sweet 5 spoke wheels from the era. That would be amazing.

    Welcome to 126 ownership, I have an 88 420sel that I daily and an 85 500sec euro model. Very well built and relatively easy to work on. They've also proven to be very reliable once sorted. If it hasn't been done already replace all the rubber lines on the fuel pump assembly as well as the 2 rubber fuel lines in the engine bay. Burst fuel line is the one and only time I've ever been stranded. I would also recommend running 10w 40 liqui-moly with the anti-friction additive premixed, this will help prevent the excessive camshaft wear these m116 and m117 motors are known for. Also changing the diff fluid is an often overlooked maintenance item. Seems like you got a decent one, take care of it and it will last as long as you want it to.

    I love the 560…..my car is a 300sl. Gorgeous also. This is a fabulous era.
    Also check out your engine mounts….I have done mine.

      Yes, very solid built cars!! I'm too busy chasing down leaks to worry about motor mounts lol

    check the SLS sphere accumulators. They likely need replacement if it's not riding smooth. They are around $100 each and a fairly easy DIY. worth every penny

    Where did you send the Fuel distributor to rebuild?

  • @ItsTimePictures
    @ItsTimePictures ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Dead Man In Trunk is the SLS suspension. Just find an old inde-Benz mechanic who understands these cars and he will either repair or replace the spheres. A non-Benz mechanic who doesn't understand the SLS suspension will just muck it up. SLS is amazing when it works.
    Did you get those powder coated valve covers from Slownrusty in TX? He did mine and they look awesome. I have a 500 SEC (euro version) and once owned a USA 560 SEC. The Achilles heal with these cars is they are VERY expensive to service. So much can go wrong, but once an SEC is properly sorted it should be bullet proof for a decade or more.
    Those wood cup holders never come close to matching, unfortunately, but us 126 owners kind of have no choice.

      Yea I've heard alot of conflicting things about the thump. I've heard it was the spheres, but I have also heard it was going to be the rear "strut" bushings. I need to figure it out though. It's the main issue along with my power steering constantly leaking no matter what I do lol. Yea slownrusty is who I had them done by! And yea the wood trim is kind of a nightmare finding good pieces and yea that cupholder doesn't really match lol

    Just subscribed. I have 2 560 SEC (1987 & 1991)! My 87 is exactly like yours but with a palomino interior! Love mine! REAL MB!
    PS Could you share who rebuilt your fuel distributor?

    • @beardedreviews
      @beardedreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not exactly sure. I could ask my mechanic. They sent it off somewhere. Had to pay $750 for expedited service though. Not sure what regular service costs

      @@beardedreviews I knew they were expensive to rebuild! Yes, if you could update on the rebuilder, I would appreciate it!

    Whatever you do, don't cannibalize it with white front blinkers, blacked out taillights, huge and tasteless wheels, spoilers, etc. So few of these in original condition and most have been terrorized by morons. Keep it original, it's perfect.

    • @beardedreviews
      @beardedreviews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't plan on doing that stuff, but people like to do things with their cars. Nobody will ever fully agree with how somebody else builds their car

    • @detonator2112
      @detonator2112 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's just that I've been looking to buy one of these and it's hard to find one that haven't been ruined with idiotic mods. It's such a beauty and I have a feeling that the top designers at Mercedes knew better what suits the car than the average Joe. I believe the ones in original condition will raise in value. They already have actually. People who make their tasteless mods to these classics will never get a decent money for their cars. Cheers.
