I was born and grew up in this town - I worked at that mill but left at 19 yrs old and lived around Europe but at 65 I'm back and I appreciate it so much more. It's changed only minimally The factory is gone though completely and another more modern work building stands in its place.
I grew up in this beautiful little town and I would swim in that river pretty much every summer. I live in Australia now and have for many years but I French think of colne.
Mitchell and Kenyon were canny operators, often filming crowds exiting factories and other places where folk gathered in numbers and then showing those films locally. Cinema was a huge novelty as can by witnessed by the excited faces captured here and everyone went along to see if they were in it.
