      You can find some on art stores, like Blick and Jerrys ( check there ) or you can always make your own version with contact paper.

    A plastic shower curtain spread out under your painting space will really save your floor. I also cover my chair and the table holding my paint with clear plastic or garbage bags, tape it down so it won’t slip. You can also use butcher paper on your table. I also sit my cleaning bucket down in a rectangular tote along with my beater tool.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The plastic shower curtain is a great idea ( I might have to steal that and claim it as my own) - I personally use an outdoor patio rug ( they are really cheap when you buy them at discount stores like Ross and Big Lots) Provided you dont care about ugly designs ha ha ha

    Can I still use wax paper to blend colors using paint thinner & linseed oil? Can I dispose of it like any other trash?

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can Isis BUT make sure you are same about it. Some things like thinners evaporate vapors ( so outside trash is best, so you don't breath it in ) ALSO, somethings like linseed oil can ( under the extremely right condition ) catch on fire easily or combust (even though its rare BUT want you to be safe). So make sure you dispose of it in the right way.

    a little addition for beginners: towels and turpentine can be very dangerous! It is prone to spontaneous combustion!

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is very true but also kinda rare - a lot of conditions have to be met. BUT always be practice safety when around chemicals.

  • @rowennightfall1369
    @rowennightfall1369 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This angled brush looks interesting, so yeah, a video would be nice.🤔 Already wondering how to hold it properly.
    So you're cleaning your brushes with soap - do you use the original BR brushes? Bob always said that you should never ever use them with water, that's why I don't buy any of them. When I started painting last autumn I first bought paint thinner and omg I really can't stand it. Studied chemistry years ago and found out I am very sensitive to solvents and chemicals which vaporate. Even if I can't smell them I start to cough very quickly. Would I have to use the "odorless paint thinner" Bob advertizes I couldn't paint at all. Took me some weeks to think and google for alternatives, because I know all these old masters had no can of turpenoid lying around and still managed to clean their brushes.
    Are there really brushes which get damaged by water? Or is it a myth placed so that you buy his solvent as well?🤔🤔
    ** EDIT oh I get it you use the soap for your hands not the brushes. Still curious if its possible to damage the hairs with water tho.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Odorless thinner still produces vapor (just doesn't smell bad )! So I think you still might have an issue with it but can't say for sure.
      You can clean your brushes with water but you would also need to condition them if you do. Its like your hair on your head. Washing with soap and water makes the hair brittle THUS the brush hairs can break over time (ruining the brush). By conditioning them, you keep them strong and they last longer.

    • @rowennightfall1369
      @rowennightfall1369 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WildCreates Yeah figured that out with the vapors myself that's why I didn't even try it in the first place.
      My hair hasn't seen shampoo or conditioner in months😌 I switched to a healthier cleaning method and after 2-3 weeks the hair regulates itself and doesn't need any type of conditioning. And since my bathroom is now 100% plastic free I won't buy any conditioner for my brushes.
      I could try vinegar. It's used to smoothe wool when you wash it with soap - the thing is, once your brush is clean, a bit of soap is perfect to shape your bristles and keep them like that, especially with the round brushes.🤔

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use olive oil its safe and cleans well OR you can use this ( amzn.to/2UCp9Vl ) i use this all the time.

    • @rowennightfall1369
      @rowennightfall1369 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WildCreates I use oil for the rough cleaning and then use soap - but I haven't found a brush soap yet, I'll look if I find anything similar to your product once the soap bar is empty. If not I'll just continue with the soap, I get free samples from time to time when ordering other stuff at a soap manufacturer and most of the time don't like the smell - so my brushes are cleaned with high quality, luxury vegan soap😂😂
