The pernicious "Word of Faith" movement, also known as the "Prosperity Gospel", "Health & Wealth" or "Name-it-and-Claim-it", is a popular, diverse subculture wrapped in the guise of Christianity. It's known primarily for its emphasis on the pursuit of health and wealth, which, they claim, can be obtained by ‘positive confession’ and/or ‘acts of faith‘ such as donating money or even throwing away medicines (Gloria Copeland this month, February 2018, advised people NOT to have the flu jab, but to reply on Jesus). Kenneth E. Hagin (1917-2003) is considered the “father” (or "grandaddy") of the movement. Some say the founder was actually E. W. Kenyon, much of whose theology was adopted by Hagin (who also plagiarized some of Kenyon's writings). Currently, the main preachers are Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Frederick Price, Jesse Duplantis, T D Jakes, Joseph Prince, Paula White, Creflo Dollar, and many others. The late Paul Crouch, founder of the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), was a major advocate, together with his late wife Jan Crouch, famous for her enormous pink wigs and heavy makeup! This movement’s doctrines range from aberrant to heretical, mixed with Biblical truth to add confusion. The movement is diverse, does not have an "official"set of doctrines, and not all proponents teach, believe or practice all of the doctrines associated with Word of Faith theology. Not all doctrines receive equal emphasis. Many doctrines reflect other erroneous teachings, such as the New Apostolic Reformation or New Age. Some critics of the Word of Faith movement say that Kenyon was directly and heavily influenced by Phineas P. Quimby (1802-1866), who was the father of New Thought. It is also said that Kenyon also studied Christian Science. They claim he combined mind science (where the term “name-it-and-claim-it” originated) with Pentecostalism, resulting in an odd blend of doctrines which were later adapted and popularized by Hagin. Many Word of Faith teachers claim that because God made us in his image and after his likeness, Christians are in fact “little gods.” For instance, Kenneth Copeland has said, “You’re all Gods. You don’t have a God living in you; you are one! When I read in the Bible where God tells Moses, ‘I AM,’ I say, ‘Yah, I am too!'” This is clearly BLASPHEMY ! Kenneth Hagin said: "You can have what you say. You can write your own ticket with God. And the first step in writing your own ticket with God is: SAY IT". He stated that he received prophetic revelation DIRECT from Jesus Christ, who gave him the 4 principles: "Say it, do it, receive it and tell it." He claimed that Jesus Christ told him PERSONALLY "If anybody anywhere will take these four steps and put these four principles into operation, he will always have whatever he wants from Me or God the Father." (fquotes rom Kenneth Hagin's book "How to Write Your Own Ticket") This is plainly outrageous, ridiculous and absurd. Neither Jesus Christ nor God promises ANYONE "whatever he wants"; that is absolute HERESY ! A particularly pernicious teaching is that in order for God to be able to bless someone financially, that person must first demonstrate faith by giving donations (usually to those who preach this message of course). Another harmful teaching of the movement is that sickness usually (or always) is the result of sin and/or a lack of faith on the part of the person who is ill. Some Word of Faith proponents claim that Jesus died spiritually as well as physically, and was born again in HELL before he rose from death. This is heretical doctrine. Some of their preachers say there are apostles and prophets today, and believe and even practice "speaking in tongues", talking in unintelligible babble (for example, T D Jakes, Kenneth Copeland, Paula White. Some allege that God gives them direct revelation in the form of words of knowledge, prophecies, and visions. Some, such as Jesse DuPlantis, claim to have visited Heaven personally and to have met Jesus and/or God. This gives you an idea of some of the teachings of this advancing movement. There are many others which I'm sure you'll want to research, in order to gain a solid understanding of this dangerous movement which is being widely disseminated, particularly on "Christian TV" such as TBN. Spaseebo Ya know no one has had a greater impact on my life than Hagin, Sumerall, Norval Hayes, Copeland, and mike Murdock. I’ve had 3 of my kids healed by listening to these preachers. I’m saying I spoke to the warts that were all over 3 of my kids bodies... I would tuck them in at night and then talk to their warts in an authoritative voice and command them to die and disappear and I would curse the root of the warts. I did that every night for about 2 months and the warts left my 3 children. They are still wart free today years later. I sowed a $500 dollar seed into my pastors wife when I was 18 and said I wanted a woman like her when I got married. She said, in gods timing and turned around and walked off. But God never forgot that seed and I married a wonderful Christian girl 8 years ago. Before our first date I knew we would marry. God told me. These preachers that you’re railing against have dramatically changed my life. They gave their lives to see people saved, healed, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Why don’t you go and fast a couple days and ask God to show you the truth. Because if you’re wrong and you’re coming against real men of God you’re bringing swift judgment on yourself.

Hagin Started preaching faith and confession after he was healed from a deformed heart and an incurable blood disease on his deathbed
