I think it’s high time for you to listen to Regine Velasquez. Both Katrina and Morissette are vocal about Regine being one if not their greatest influence(s) in singing. This particular arrangement of Go the Distance was Regine’s version, and Katrina has mastered it to a T. My personal favourites among Regine’s live performances that are also in TH-cam are her older ones such as Piece of Sky, Go the Distance, What Kind of Fool Am I, Sometime Somewhere, Broadway Medley with Martine Nieverra and the more recent ones, If You Go Away, Love Story (Where Do I Begin), It Might Be You, Araw-Gabi on Wish Bus. Regine, I think, is the best belter of all belters out there, and you will hear a lot of her belting style in Katrina’s performances. Just a little fyi: You won’t be considered a great singer in the Philippines if you can’t belt it out, most especially with female singers, and Regine, has been the standard of a great singer (not just a belter) for the last 20-30 years in the Philippines.
