tried SC2 for the first time yesterday. It blows my mind how much shit you have to pay attention to. I played co-op with a friend and after 3 hours my brain was fried.
If you played sc1 before things would be much easier. I also played some other rts game like aoe, warcraft 3, and those old games didn't have that much macro assistant like sc2
i mean, you harass for a couple of minutes and buum! 1200 minerals, workers inactive, and your enemy already is destroying your supply at your natural!
MarathonInfinityHalo spend your money while you fight!!! I tell all my friends when they first start playing the game “the first 100 games you play, don’t even look at the fight, just send your army in and continue to build more workers/army.” There’s no reason to micro all the way up to diamond
Warp Prisms also regenerate Protoss shields while they're inside of it, can pick up units from a distance, and can power buildings. Overall an incredibly useful unit that has only relatively recently been receiving a lot of pro play. In particular, the double Archon drop, because Archons have a massive shield pool and little health, they're great for hit-and-run attacks on enemy mineral lines. They're also exceptionally powerful against light units and even have a small area of effect attack. Hope this helps! Always happy to see new people picking up this wonderfully deep game.

Winter I want to say thank you. I saw you stream for the first time last week and Ive slowly been getting better. Just wanted to let you know that before I watched this guide I was winning roughly 40% of my matches. Since I saw this a day or so ago and been following it like a bible and adapting to situations my win rate has gone up to roughly 70%. Thank you!
P.S you dont get into late game options very often and i understand why. Because you simply kill them before late game. Im having some problem with late game terran and the big mech bots. any suggestions?
Last year I bought starcraft II and for almost an entire season I got my ass kicked by silver 2's as a Bronze 1 Terran. Thanks to your tutorials, I'm now a Plat 3 Random. This is really some of the best stuff on your channel and I thank you for them greatly. You inspire me to keep getting better. Keep being awesome man :D
Started playing SC2 when I was 10, found Winter about a month ago watching videos, absorbing his knowledge. Hoped back on SC2 for the first time a week ago. Ranked Silver. Improved in a 5 year absence to the game
Thanks Winter got into SC2 after seeing it was free 2 play randomly a week ago and have really been enjoying it, used to watch you and Husky alot wayyyy back because I thought the game was sick when I didn't have a pc to play it on.
Can someone please list the songs ? The music from your videos is extremely good. Your eloquance, humour, masterclass teaching skills, passion and generosity are much appreciated. You're an artist.
Winter streams live for about 8-10 hours a day at twitch.tv/wintergaming so you can go there if you want to watch more (and interact with him in chat as he plays). Only a small proportion of the content made there gets uploaded to youtube by him. The video archives there have many years worth of videos of him playing starcraft.
Dude I like ur tips and guides, your Zerg guide helped me alot I use to be a sloppy Zerg player. But after ur guides on true Zerg power I have a blast playing Zergs rather I lose or win I still feel like I at lease gave it a better go this time so thank a bunch bro and keep up the awesome work.
Thank you so much for your guides! My friend recommended me to watch them and they are really great! Gonna watch more videos after this one. Thank you so much again.
Have had it downloaded for awhile cause my friends wanted me to try it. Got into it for the first time tonight with them and I chose the protoss. Just watching this has helped already can't wait to apply it.
Wow perfect timing on this video I have only been playing for 3 days and just started watching your vids yesterday and so far the only thing I've really played is protoss
Thank you for the tutorial videos, they were really helpful and got me started into 1vs1 games. After placement matches yesterday, and 16 more games i just got promoted into platinum 3 :)
Hi winter! I like your videos really a lot, this is the reason I started playing sc2, and you inspired me to actually start doing youtube videos! thank you for your effort!
Winter....my God, you are just awesome. So I tried a similar build against a terran as a protoss. It wasn't even fair. I didn't scout cause I'm not at that lvl yet but I completely destroyed him. Stepped my game up a lot. I learned to send workers from multiple nexi instead of mass producing at one.

Hello @WinterStarcraft Thanks a lot for this guide! I was practicing your suggested "begining build", and yesterday i've decided to play my 1st ranked game 1v1. To be honest - i have no idea what happened there. It was PvP - 1st enemy tring to make tower rush - luckly defended before 1st canon appeared. Then 2 oracles attacking my probes - thank's to your suggestion about shield generatiors in bases, my losses were very small. And then, we want "all-in", but we missed eachother armies (his went from south to my base, mine from north + summoning 9 zelots on back of his main). I was able to clear his probes faster, and came back to base, leaving summoned zelots to "finish the base" - fight was pretty balanced, but in the end i've won :) But what suprised me while watching replay - his army was slighty stronger than mine, so i have no idea how i've won. It was like 3sentres+ 3 beams+3immortals+19 spiders (0upgrades) vs 13 spiders+3 immortals+3-4archonts + 3 sentries(+1 weapon). When i was watching replay (and noticed 2 of my archons were on the back of army -.-) i was VERY suprised that my army won the duel. Could you advise me, where to upload replay? As this would be an honor for me, if you would take a short look on the replay one day and suggest, what should i change/ improve and why the hell my army won :D
If you want some more linkin park. "waiting for the end" and "burning in the skies" both are a little bit softer than their earlier music but lyrically are pretty deep
My oldest brother is in the Gold League. He is best with the Terran. His name is SwoleMarine. That would be cool if you and him played a game and you made a video of it. He introduced me to your channel by the way so I could get tips. Because him and I tried playing a 2v2 online and I was beat within 4 minutes.. lol. I play as the Protoss and I'm not good at all. Those videos are great. The best tutorials for bewginners since apollo´s. one thing im missing in your tutorial is actually finishing the wall in the main ramp, and facing a proper zerg rush. It might sound esay but im kinda noob with protoss.
The thing I like about Protoss is that the probes don't fuck around. they just place the shit that they need to place, and move on. They don't spend 5 hours building it, and they don't have to sacrifice themselves to create something. All hail probes.
"and focus on upgrades" 0-0-0 :'D anyway nice to watch these videos bcas i can learn a lot. i just started to play as a protoss some days ago but playing SC2 since a year as zerg.
Thanks for the video! But one question: who does opening via Gate-Nexus this meta in pvp?? Without a wall!?!? 2 gateways and you will be punished - 2 adepts will kill you 5-10 probes, isn't it?
Question: Now that nyduses are.. well, ridiculous.. and there is no core / overcharge.. how does a noob (or, well, "very low frequency player", let's say) counter another noob who is practicing the nydus rush? When people at my own mmr level nydus rush me, it seems they arrive with a number of roaches and queens not long after my first unit is popping out. Shield batteries? Super early immortal? Is it possible to get a battery and an immortal out in time to deal with a nydus rush? Patrolling stalkers to drive overlords away, I guess.. ? Base-edge pylons..
I might've missed it, but do you/does WinterStarcraft have any video to explain how to use all these quick commands? I'm simply doing campaign so I haven't been able to pick up any of those skills besides stutter stepping with right click > a + left click. Or any video to explain the best way to group units maybe? Just a new player trying to do things quicker and more effective.
Love the video. I have a question though. The triangulation of the pylons around the nexus is it necessary now that MC have been removed? Only thing i can think of is expanding build radius while maintaining super pylon radius.
If anyone knows what songs he's playing in background, or if its a spotify playlist or something PLEASE LET ME KNOW! they all sound fucking amazing and chill af
Question: Sometimes you have an idle probe waiting at a nexus while it is spawning or too many workers at one mineral field (17/16) Would it be ideal in both situations to make the probes start farming at the new nexus, running back and forth while its being built?
it is perfectly okay to have too many workers at 1 mining site, you should transfer them to a new site AFTER the new base has been built so they can begin mining immediately there
Having more than the optimal number of workers on a given mineral line, ex: 19/16, isn't necessarily bad, just less efficient than it could be if they could mine from a different base with a constructed Nexus. They're still mining you more than the 16 would have, but with diminishing returns. Hope this was helpful.

Oh, are warp priss like super pylons? Didn't know, quite new to SC2 that's quite useful to know if that's the case ^^
