I wanted to buy that Road King Special, specifically in that color, when they had it that year, but the amount of money I recently poured into bikes made me pass. I definitely regret it, and I'll probably keep regretting it. It's super awesome. You watch so many HD models come and go, things just always get bigger and supposedly better. You have to seize on the ones you know will be enduring standouts when they come. You made an awesome choice on that.
Agreed. The Road King is such a solid platform to build off of and is timeless to say the least. Who knows, this bike might be up for sale in the next year or so if those regrets end up eating you alive 😂 Thanks for the support!
Glad I was able to find a couple of these older videos today on your bike. I first saw it in the T⚡C Sturgis videos and loved it right away. Great to get the story behind it.
beautiful bike and love the fairing. I noticed the flat spots on the inner area of it. Can you mount a bluetooth head unit in there and maybe some speakers? I'm getting a used RK and wanna rock this setup
Thanks! Yes, you can drill holes for 5" speakers and a single din head unit in the dash. There is space for the amp etc inside the fairing. Let us know if you have any questions. We've got the fairings in stock at 2lanelife.com/collections/windshields-trim/products/klock-werks-r-fxrp-fairing-kit
Nice guys, I owned a 1986 Fxrd back in the day, loved the bike and the fairing, but now being 60 I love my 2022 road glide some people called the Fxrd the baby bagger I guess I have it’s dad now lol
Thanks John! In my experience, the FXRP with the 12" windshield is very similar to a Street Glide with a stock shorty windshield. We just got back from a 2,400 mile trip that I did on a stock Road Glide, which seemed to be a bit smoother than the FXRP. Going to try out a 14" windshield on the FXRP soon to help with some minor buffeting at higher speeds. Tried it on a friends bike who has a nearly identical build and it pretty much felt like the wind protection of a road glide.
Let us know when you decide to pull the trigger, we've got you covered. Currently just a front signal delete, but we'll eventually relocate them with the addition of light pods and lowers
Awesome! Klock does not currently make pods, but most other manufacturer's pods should work. We're still deciding which pods to go with, but we'll put up an update somewhere (probably instagram) when we do
The FXRT is very different from this FXRP fairing on the inside/dash side of the fairing. The pods on FXRP fairings can be removed, and in this case, have not been installed yet. Thanks for watching 🤙
They let in some air, yes. More air gets in through the bottom though as it is fairly open. You are able to add light pods or vents to the two vent holes on the front, it's all preference
Thanks Bill. Check out the link below for the price on the fairing kits. We installed it ourselves and would consider it a beginner/easy install so labor should be relatively inexpensive should someone else install it. The fairings come hydro-dipped so they require minimal prep before paint. It just depends who your painter is and how simple the design is, but a basic single color paint-job would likely be anywhere from $350-800. I wantedto get your opinion. I have a 23 FXLRS test I'm thinking of getting a FXR fairing for. I'm super OCD and don't want massaging or adjusting. I know there is ALOT of vendors out there. In my researching the Klock Werks FXRP fairing looks like the most plug and play. My goal is high quality (fit/finish) and plug and play, thanks for your time in advance. I'm currently rocking the MS Road Warrior and 9.5' Thrashin pullbacks...
We've seen a lot of different brands on various bikes that come through our ship and the Klock Werks seems to be the best in those departments. Plug and play with zero cutting or drilling needed and bolts up nice and straight. They also come much more ready for paint than just raw fiberglass. 10/10 would go with theirs again. The one in the video was a pre-production model and it still stands up agains the competition. Very sturdy as well. Let us know if you have any questions, we are happy to help. We've got a few in stock and ready to ship at 2lanelife.com as well🤘
@2LaneLife you guys really run your business like a corporation with the boutique attention to detail! BTW I fricken love all your products! I will definitely reach out soon. I just got my MS Road Warrior fairing and then I saw your video lol.....thanks brother!
We appreciate the support! Sounds good to us. The Road Warrior is solid as well. Enjoy some miles behind that thing and we'll see ya when you're ready for the RP🤘@@vmotobiker
I have been thinking about this option a lot lately and comparing it to a Road Glide and Low Rider ST. I even rode all three back to back to back recently. This option really appeals to me quite a bit given my height and how and where I ride but I guess my question is do you ever feel like you should have just went with a Road Glide or LRST after investing the time, money, and effort it took to get your bike to this point and how the fairing performs and how much it weighs etc???
I came from a softail low rider as it was not as capable as the touring chassis at carrying a lot of weight (camera gear, luggage, passenger, etc) while still handling well and it has lived up to that aspect. Wind coverage was the second priority and the FXRP has done well. Would I do it again? Absolutely. I have ridden a few road glides and although they do a bit better in the wind coverage department, I have no need for all of the weight in the front end and love the light feel.
He was rocking the Thrashin' High bend bars, 9.5" pullback risers, and Thrashin Road Glide Top tree to mount the risers closer and clean up the look and form of the lock. Great for performance riding and touring alike. 2lanelife.com/products/bars-riders-perch-clam-bundle-high-bend-bars?variant=37744035594434
Removed them for now as they would have shined on the inner fairing. I'll be relocating them somewhere in the fairing when I do lower fairings and light pods
Any cutting involved? I have a dfab that isn't sturdy and I am wondering if this fairing is better and easier to install. How stiff I'd the fairing? Does it flex?
As shown in the video, there was zero cutting or drilling involved to install the fairing on the Road King. There is no flexing, creaking, or movement in the fairing when riding or sitting. If you feel like making the switch, let us know and we'd be happy to get you set up with a kit. Thanks for watching👍
Yes, you just have to cut speaker holes and mount the amps/head unit up inside. While you could find a way to do a dual din unit with some customizations, it's really designed for a single.
I don't believe Klock Werks makes kits for the Heritage Softail as of this moment. Speaker holes can be cut out and there is room for a single din head unit in the dash.
Did a turn signal relocation to the garage😂 I had eventually planned to relocate them to some light pods in the fairing vent or down on the crash bar but never got around to it before selling the bike

Yup one or two of the Laidlaw guys did it as well. It's all preference. Josh does not care for speakers, nav, or 80 extra pounds in the front end when this whole build can be done for $6-8k less than a RG. Win win. Wanted something a bit more unique as well as there's tons of Road Glides out there. More info in the video 🤙

At time of 9:55... That blue wire you mention is a connection for a usb port. 👍😎

really informative video ! I like that fairing , great bike Josh ! What did you do with the turn signals ?
Thanks for tuning in! For now, I've just removed the front turn signals but I will be relocating them once I install light pods and lower fairings
Awesome build im going to be doing the same in billiard blues with a 2023 rk from Canada 🇨🇦

I’ve been torn between the road king and the road glide . I think you putting that on your RK convinced me to stick with original plan on getting a RK

Awesome! Klock does not currently make pods, but most other manufacturer's pods should work. We're still deciding which pods to go with, but we'll put up an update somewhere (probably instagram) when we do
Wow. The install on the King is a lot easier than it was on my LRS. Great looking bike…
Simple and straightforward! We haven't installed one on a softail, but we'll have to look into that. Thanks for tuning in 👍
Nice job gents. That bike looks great. Btw thats an fxrt fairing. The fxrp fairing has the 2 lites incorporated.

Should've gone with a Kraus top tree just to see Lance's reaction.
Needed the pullback mounting position.
Just question sir that fairing will fit on heritage Softail ?
They do not currently make a specific kit to fit the heritage softail. You would need to modify the existing mounting brackets or make new ones
Will this fairing fit on my 2012 Softail Slim??
Any cutting involved? I have a dfab that isn't sturdy and I am wondering if this fairing is better and easier to install. How stiff I'd the fairing? Does it flex?

My Roadking has the cables anchored to the frame where the bracket is supposed to go, can I just leave it loose?

Is it possible to mount a stereo in the fairing?
Yes, you just have to cut speaker holes and mount the amps/head unit up inside. While you could find a way to do a dual din unit with some customizations, it's really designed for a single.
Would this fit older models of road kings like early y2k bikes

"Taunt" is not the same as tight or snug. To taunt, is to tease in a manner intended to aggravate.
Indeed. It is essential to verbally abuse the bolts in order to scare them into staying taut lol. Yes, we realize that now. Old habits die hard
SOB that lane splitting scares the hell out of me 😬

Does this block your turn signals?
As they were on the bars, yes. We will be relocating them to the outside of the fairing or crash bar when we do light pods and lowers
