They are the best, they look the best and they know it. So they should because the regiment they represent are the finest marines there are and they surely do them justice.

Greetings young lady.Beating Retreat is a military ceremony dating to 17th-century England and was first used to recall nearby patrolling units to their castle. In WW2 my dad was in the Royal Marines and part of The Burma Star Association . You must have a look at Top Secret Drum Corps - The Bands of HM Royal Marines. The Top Secret Drum Corps are from Switzerland.Cheers and stay safe young lady.

The bands of the UK's elite hardcore Royal Marines Commandos are at the top of their game. The quality of the music is absolutely incredible and very very very loud, all performed with precision marching like toy-soldiers :)

I love your reaction. As a young man, I marched behind these wonderful bandsmen, and I felt as if I could march for ever.
I am now 82, and walk with a stick, but I still wish I was there! Bless them all, and you too.

That is just the Band of the Royal Marines going to the venue. The actual Beating the Retreat is a whole spectacle and pretty amazing too. Check out Beating the Retreat 2022 on TH-cam 👍 LOTS of ladies in the RM band too - including the front rank (line) of drums😊👍

Any Royal Marines Band (and there are four) is without doubt the very best military band in the world. And I mean bar none. Put them together and you have this spectacle. Their musicianship is superb but their precision in drill and dress is out of this world.
Just to add: That drum break was done by 48 Buglers / Drummers (12 across the road 4 deep) in perfect unison on a very complicated pattern. Utterly superb.

Greetings Island Girl, I Love your appreciation for our nation & culture, your laughter is infectious & to answer the question of how many members of the the band? 200+ ! 😉 They're brilliant, you're right they are on precision with every beat, they have to be because they are a Royal band, get it wrong & you're fired! They rehearse every day and night, as well as break up into smaller groups for charity events and other appointed occasions. Have a wonderful weekend, love from London UK 🇬🇧❤🌹

They are on their way to Horse Guards Parade to perform the old ceremony of Beating Retreat. I saw it once. It was wonderful. When the ceremony is over they will return to Barracks again, the band will play, they will march in perfect step and look as fresh as they do now - even if they are tired or suffering exhaustion from the heat. They are a credit to the UK. I feel great pride in our Military.

Hey Island Girl! You know you are amazing! I have a suggestion for your consideration. I could say a lot but I don't want to bias your views in any way. It's a major issue, it's contemporary, and it relates back to some of the themes that you have been exploring. Just in case you are not aware, please consider doing a video about what happened to Sarah Jane Comrie.

Every single one knows how to use a rifle with lethal accuracy, & has to refresh frequently. As bandsmen/women - yes, they are expected to be non-combatant & normally non-frontline roles. But many have earned high military gallantry awards for their bravery under fire, rescuing injured soldiers...
