It's seems to me that this is a UK documentary about China and all about the bad things China is doing currently, it's quite subjective to say the least. We blame the Chinese for what Europe and the US have done themselves for decades. Haven't we Europeans exploited African for centuries? And about England, take a mirror and look in it, millions of English people can't pay there bills anymore, they live in harsh conditions. Young English people who cannot afford to buy a house anymore. Same in the US, where a lot of people have to take on 2 or 3 jobs, just to survive...no that's paradise. Please take off your subjective glasses and don't blame China for everything. Maybe it's a bit difficult for us Europeans and Americans to accept, but Asia is going to dominate the century to come, whether we like it or not.

I saw a more extreme point of view in this film. The local people must maintain a primitive and poor life to be the best. Those farmers whose interests have been damaged are indeed poor, but the income of those workers working in factories is not mentioned. , Those women can just stay at home or do some farm work. The railways and roads built in China have enabled many people to do business. These benefits are not mentioned, but completely negative reports, which is very interesting.

New Silk Road consists of old and new routes. Old Silk road was sabotaged by empires along the route. Soviet era even blocked movements of goods. As a result, landlocked countries suffered. New Silk Road enabled landlocked countries to be landlinked. Also like ancient Silk Road, it's not a one way route. Benefiting countries along the route.

To be fair, traditional farmery and fishery disappearing because a new modern harbor and industry is building is nothing new. The same was done in the US and the EU, and yet no-one is arguing the situation in the West is now worse than it was 100 years before. So, yes, when progress happens, some of the non-industrial activities change or go away, but overall, things improve. Complaining about this by the West (or those affected) is understandable, but shortsighted, unless the West wants to go back to how things were done 200 years ago?

Western portrayals of the Silk Road cannot resist the opportunity to find any negative aspect.
All modernization project have winners and losers. Training local people to the high standards demanded by China takes time. Would the west prefer the local people of Africa or Pakistan to remain uneducated, under-developed and poor for eternity?
The security at Gwadar is understandable as the terrorism is real and should be pointed out that the Baluchi terrorists are armed and funded by the United States via several NGOs the primary one, NED, an offshoot of the CIA. (the evidence is in their own website). Part of the US plan of destabilization and fragmentation of Pakistan and disruption of China's progress.
Eventually the countries and their people will benefit unlike the hundreds of years of colonial rule and wars brought by the west and US.

I would like to ask, do poor areas need modernization? Modernization requires investment and factories. Are they living on the land that supports them all their lives? No no no. If they are willing to work in factories, one month's salary is enough to buy food for a year. Why can China develop? It is investment from Western countries, as well as loans from Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and other countries. Modern China has been realized. Now China is willing to provide loans and investments to other countries, but Western countries are not happy, not because China has done anything wrong, but because some things are not done by Western countries.

The Chinese workers in Africa are humble, and are paid relatively low. $2,800 monthly for expats is a lot in Africa and decent in China, but is low for Europe or US. With all their productivity and assistance to the host countries , there is no air of arrogance , strutting and acts of superiority other than the necessary business hierarchy.
Contrast with Western expats in Africa who often produce very little or nothing but are tens of times the salaries that Chinese workers are paid , whilst living free in luxury home and strutting about like bosses with arrogance.
    Am I telling a lie?

I belong to a Nativ tribe in Pakistan, We know how Baloch sardars are treating the Baloch people of Pakistan. If China and Pakistan work in partnership to change the livelihood of poor people of the region these Baloch Sardar can be counted on fingers are attacking establishments with their private armed men. Their days are numbered anyway. No Chinese want to leave home and come and work in Gawader the day Gawader port is fully functioning it will be poor people of Balochistan and Pakistan who will work here this project is definitely beneficial to both China and Pakistan as well as Africa and Southeast Asia

I wouldn’t want to further train, nurture, and promote those two whining disloyal employees if I were the employer. I think any employer would be very much the same doesn’t matter what nationality he/she is. No employer likes disloyal disgruntled employees. Despite you were trying to diss the Chinese and to portray the Chinese in a unfavorable light, you probably did the Chinese employer a favor by betraying and exposing these two potential problematic employees (ex. Disgruntled employees like those two might cause safety hazard intentionally or unintentionally in railway operations or even to sabotage…).
