This is the second time I listened to this episode and the stories never get old.
When I was 15, I stole the first Method Man-Redman cd at Best Buy. The manager of the store had me in the office and looked at the cd and read it aloud. When he read Redman he paused and snarkily said “Wow, my name is Redman too!” His last name was Redman and he thought he was fucking hilarious. He was a douche and I kept stealing from the store lol

I was with my step brother and 2 home girls in a fairly new Walmart that had opened up in our town. I went one way to attempt to make a distraction for cameras and they went another way to get a couple bottles. Only thing was my step brother was pushing a homegirl in a shopping basket. He managed to get a bottle in the cart, a box of condoms, and finally trying to be thoughtful for another friend about to be having a baby they grabbed a package of baby socks. She thought she was slick by putting it in her purse sitting in the basket (so slick). When we attempted to leave they were stopped of course and were charged to full extent for stealing baby socks, condoms, and a bottle. HILARIOUS COMBO. We were in highschool.

I am going to oversimplify this. Yet, the distraction method worked for me lol. Got into a major bike accident in high school. My brother told me to ask a checker to take me to the pharmacy. All the checkers helped me to the pharmacy. The pharmacist took us to the meat department to get ice and bandage me up. The whole store got involved. Me being a veteran of getting hurt, I was definitely playing it up. In the meantime, my brother was filling his backpack with beer. 20 minutes later..... I was drinking off the road rash and pizza knees. Got free medical help in the process. Great time lol. This is a seriously condensed version of the story.

I also worked Loss Prevention at Sears around 2000-2003. Sounds like my experience was similar to Joe's. Then I transferred to the Sears Auto Center for a few years. Good times for sure.

I've never been caught stealing, but I worked at a check cashing store and every once in a while an old lady would come in with a fraudulent check they got for their car they just sold to a guy they met on craigslist. Some of them can look pretty legit, but we had a few different ways to verify them. Then we had to tell them they didn't have $20,000 or a car. They would file a police report, but the deed and car were already gone and the only proof they had were some emails from a burner phone.
