BRO achieves breakthrough of Nowshera tunnel of NH 144A connecting Akhnoor to Poonch

The Border Road Organisation achieved a significant milestone in the construction of National Highway 144A connecting Akhnoor to Poonch. A breakthrough ceremony for the Nowshera tunnel was organised on January 28 in Rajouri. The tunnel spanning an impressive 700 meters is a crucial link connecting Akhnoor and Poonch.
Last year on November 2023 breakthrough of the Kandi tunnel was achieved signifying the efforts of BRO towards providing connectivity across the areas of Rajouri and Poonch.
The progress of NH has taken pace and the project is expected to be completed by 2026 before its specified time.

This is a smaller tunnel, a few bigger tunnels are still under construction on the same route
SUNGAL tunnel is the biggest one.
Congratulations to everyone for this achievement.
Just for information, Jammu-Akhnoor-Rajouri-Poonch highway Is full of twists and turns which means the average speed of vehicles is 40kmph leading to very long travelling times .
