  • Hey! In this video, I show how I sanitise and disinfect my nail tools/implements. This is a very essential task that nail technicians must complete as often as needed to ensure the safety of all clients. This is the way that I disinfect my implements, hopefully, you can learn something new from this video.

    THANK YOU FOR DOING IT RIGHT!!!! So many people just dump the barbicide in without measurement and that can cause skin irritation, thank you for measuring!

    This was so needed! It definitely will help your clients feel more secure. I also think its such a great idea that you make separate pouches for each client. I believe all nail techs should take on the “sanitary pouches” idea on board if not already ❤️

    Wow, thank you for recording this video, what an excellent demonstration... I completely never thought about purchasing my own self-sealing sanitation pouches or an abundant supply of nail implements that are used repeatively, duh! (I am a beginning nail tech, I received my license in cosmetology) but I will now, I appreciate the thorough job that you did. Great job, thanks again!👍

      Those pouches are supposed to be put in a steriliser such as autoclave. She did everything great but that one very important step is missing :( unfortunately those tools aren’t ready as they are not sterilized x

    I do mine at home, and have not training, I thought I was saving money, but didn’t realise I had to clean my own tools after using them, I gave myself nail fungus, had treatment for it by the doctor, and started doing my nails again and cause I didn’t clean my tools; I gave myself nail fungus AGAIN. … so this is very helpful on how to not get it again….especially since I don’t have training.

    Never store disinfected implements in airtight pouches unless they are sterilized in an autoclave or dry heat (not bead) sterilizer.

    I like that you scrub them and disinfect them, also the idea of the pouches, but the equipment is still not sterile. Look into autoclave or heat steam for sterilization

      At the end of every day I work. Because I separate the implements into separate sanitisation pouches it’s easier to do so. Once I’ve used the implements in a pouch, I will place it in a dirty implements container and at the end of the day disinfect them and put them in fresh sanitisation pouches for the next day💜

    I'm not a nail tech but I want to do at home manicures for my family and friends. Can I wash the tools with soap and water and then put them in the oven to heat up?
    Also, is using rusty tools safe? I know the clipper wasn't caked in rust, but it's still a scary sight to see rusty tools that are coming in contact with my skin.

    • @ClarissaAma
      @ClarissaAma  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m not too sure of that method. But I wouldn’t recommend using rusted tools, I removed the rust with baking soda. It wasn’t severe rusting, it was only a little due to me leaving it in the barbicide for too long. I would NEVER use a rusted tool on a client.

    • @ClarissaAma
      @ClarissaAma  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If they do rust and you can’t remove it, you should throw them in the bin, like I stated in the video💓

    • @staci9145
      @staci9145 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes and no, if you don't have enough implements for each single client then yes. But you don't want to keep cleaning implements after each single client wasting time. You want to have bulk of implements to clean each night.

    I have a question: is it a must to have a certificate if you’re or want to become a home based nail tech??

    • @ClarissaAma
      @ClarissaAma  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its not a must in the UK to have a qualification if you are home based, however, i would advise everyone to have a qualification/certificate or license💜

    • @infecti0uss
      @infecti0uss 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will be different in each country and then province/state. In Canada in my province, it is not required, but the next province over it is. A lot of the Asian nail salons are allowed to practice by apprenticing this way with no certification around Canada and USA. I went through the schooling right up until the final exam but then got really ill, so I never finished. BUT I did learn all about the science/bacteria/virus/sterilization aspect and how to do a set, care for my supplies, everything but the final exam to get my cert. So I've made the decision to start doing nails for family and friends only. I just can't cover the cost of all the supplies without charging. As long as thorough research and care to be sterile is taken and follow laws/regulations I feel it's fine as long as you are transparent to clients.

    • @selfproclaimedprincess4786
      @selfproclaimedprincess4786 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its recommended in the USA to have your state license but alot of home techs dont. But its dangerous because anyone can report you to state board for practicing without a license if you charge for it and you can be fined heavily for that

    Don't use one of cuticle nippers this actually creates hangnail what you need to do instead is push back your cuticle and then use a seraper to take of all of the dead skinon top the nail
