Those Metra electric district highliners were tried and true. They ran from 1971 to 2016. What’s really interesting is there are some bi-level gallery cars from the Eisenhower era that are still in use to this day on the diesel powered lines. The highliners also did not have washrooms on board. They were a big part of Metra’s history and also the Illinois Central Gulf who ran the service before Metra took over.

    Incredible skyscape in Pennsylvania.
CSX in field and fog at Ohio nice clip.
Florida has is excusions cars out as well as BNSF. Amtrek has a showing of a potential renovation car?
The Canadian duel head snow and ice machine is fun.
Virginia has a interesting airy construction engine running and stopping.
That was a huge blue dumbbell thingy too.
DOD was running with a caboose..plus a multipack long convoy train in California.
Wave of the day goes to a Washington state engineer.
Lots of unknown engines to me. Plus a BN green machine out too.
The steam engine in PA reminds me of Petticoat junction show.
I am surprised that the fleets of electrical trucks et al after weather disasters don't go by rail......
Fun to see the truck train too. Thanks
Addendums..nice appears to be a huge potential project UP construction train in Nebraska heading to warmer weather place?
Plus a really nice showing of the riverboat push me boats on the Mississippi at the Fort in Iowa. They looked super fine and fun. Do they do excursions too?
    Thanks again.

CSX 1715 "ET23" built from SD40-2 8004 (LN 8004 3/79). Looks like it's not finished yet. Searching further tells me it's an ET23DCM with a 6 cylinder GEVO L6 engine. It's enroute to Wabtec in Erie PA for further work. I'm thinking it's been a long time since they were cross-bashing engines with other brand diesels, maybe the Conrail RS3M program the most recent example?
    GMTX 2142 GP38-2 built 11-76 as CRI&P 4333
Amtrak 2275 I believe this is a GP38-3 that's been sold and renumbered, can't find any data.

I know that each train company keeps track of what other companies' cars are in a train and regularly reimburses the other companies for their use. I had a silly question about engines: does the reimbursement rate change depending on where the engine is in a line of engines? That is, if the engine is the first one, is that reimbursement higher than if the engine is the last one?

Why oh why oh why doesn't the city of La Grange KY close that street to vehicle traffic and make it a pedestrian/ bike street only. The amount of cars on tracks, collisions, near collisions is astonishing and the cost in police/ fire response costly to their taxpayers. Looks like there is plenty of parking around, so there is no need to park right in front of the businesses on the street with the tracks. Remarkable.

@@trainnut1958 I have yet to see this happen in La Grange after following this site for more than two years. In La Grange it's been a constant parade of cars/trucks constantly creating hazards around the in street railroad track. Not bicycles. Not pedestrians. The city could also place stanchions if they felt they needed it for bikes/ pedestrians. It works successfully in other cities with light rail in north America and all through Europe.

It could be a hand brake not fully released but it is most likely a sticker. A shallow brake reduction on long trains can cause them. I will assume their system is like CN’s and a detector will pick up those axels being warmer than the rest and mechanical will call the train.
