Since we're in the year 2019 going on to 2020 (this was taped in 1994/1995), I noticed a lot of the comments saying how we will never get something like this gem of a live performance again. If they ever have an opportunity to put another performance like this where all the current male soul/R&B artist and group get together, who do you have in mind? Miguel? Luke James? Ro James? Chris Brown? Musiq Soulchild? Ginuwine? Tank? I'm just naming these at the top of my head, hehe... GO!!!
Any of these originals still living need to be right back in contention. Chris Brown is a poor choice for black equality IMO considering his behaviour, but he is a great singer, granted. Honestly, look at who is in this video. The absolute OG's of old school new-jack, soul or RnB. They simply do not make singers like this any more. Ray-J, Mario and Bobby V? Maybe Lloyd? Before he went pop tart he might have been in with a shout. Jagged Edge, Dru Hill, Next, New Edition, Boyz ii Men? They're all the OG's, probably prominent at the era this was made, but still didn't make the cut. Bone Thugz should have been in this one to be honest. You need to remember, it's not just about the singer, it's about their impact on society and changing the perception of black men and their culture. Anything current, honestly, doesn't do that. I say this as white-male, who is a massive fan of black RnB, so i may be wrong - prove it to me.

@Tjay 000 I love Usher he is still true R&B, there are some dope male singers they very underrated Anderson Paak, Miguel, Lucky Daye, Ro James, John Legend, and etc.
Johnny Gill, joe , Brian McKnight still have some somewhat recent albums but overall most RnB is gone :( and yo usher is a dang beast 😂 what you talking bout

Lol I don't know how people hear him and don't hear Aretha Franklin because that's who he sounded like in this perfomance. He definitely had Whitney mannerisms and runs but his upper register is Aretha
We couldn't do this today mainly because there's not enough r&b talent .....how many people would be on the stage? Maybe one or two....if that many.....I love this song and unity!!!!
SprayWayCustoms Actually, a lot of the original singers are still alive and we have a lot of new, great talented singers as well. So, yes we could and should do this again, especially in these tragic times right now.
Ciaran Moran ..agreed. boyz II Men, brian, usher, rude boys, joe..truly awesome. None can beat them till today. Just an honest speaking. Hope its not too loud 🤗🤗
This song always bring me to tears. This song came out when I was a teen. I didn't have any kids then. Now, I have a 16 year old son that means so much to me. I see the strength in unity when strong men come together.
I hear you're on that I was just a little bit older than you at the time I believe I was 21 just out on my own just in my own apartment and I remember the song on the radio and I went out and I bought the single. I was having a bit of a hard time adjusting to you know being an adult paying my own bills and such and it really helped me the song . It's a great collection of guys and it's a great song too but this is always serve me so well anytime in my life I've had a bit of a hard time I'll usually throw this on listen to it a few times and I remember what you need to do. We could definitely use a bit of unity right now 2021
And you know what yeah it will make me tear up too. Just listen to the song and I feel that everything is right in the world you know. Anyway God bless
Geeze, Lord bring back these times when we were united as one. Gives me goosebumps every time i listen to this, and it's 2023.This is when music was music!! Soo good makes me tear up😢 amazing men! 👏
Look at how we were compared to how we are today. It crazy how over time we have lost our way. This song is amazing and it is crazy to hear this and see the number of black men that came together.
THERE IS TOOOOOOO MUUUUUUCCCCHHHH MELANIN ON THIS STAGE! I hope every young man hears this song and get their life in order! When I have a son I will be sure to play this everyday. This song is so inspirational! Black men y’all are loved by black women! Love yourself too! God bless every black man in the world
I agree every African boy and man should hear this. Men please make sure your son's hear this. Make it a tradition every year play the song starting from age 5 and when they have a son let them do the same Let's us make it a BMU tradition.
This is what's missing in today's soulless and Spiritless R&B singers. Psalms 133:1-3 A song for the ascent to Jerusalem. A psalm of David. How wonderful it is, how pleasant, when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the fragrant anointing oil that was poured over Aaron's head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life forevermore.

DFSdiva did y’all see how debarge looked at tevin I was to tickled he sang that part.
🤣
😂😂😂
Usher was ready for that lil part 😂😂
Lakeisha Draine man I could see him preparing for it in his eyes 😂😂😂
*he wasn't prepared for Tevin though lol*
LMAO!!!!! He grabbed that mic so fast hahaha, gotta love him
Lmaooo ongg😂
I laughed so hard at this comment lol! He sung that lil part his own way! I liked it. I’m glad he did it his way and didn’t try to sing it just like R. Kelly. I see he had to fill in for him. I love this song and all of the guys were great!
That Tevin Campbell is something else ! Them vocals 💗💗
It’s 2024 and it’s been LONG Enough…
PLEASE BRING BACK 90’s R&B!!
My man Stokley always 🔥 and Tevin.... Well he was a seperate universe🔥🔥
Man...where have all the black singers gone in 2019? 😢
Tjay 000 I agree but Usher is the real deal.
@@jeromeb4396 Gallant sound 1000x better than usher!! Plus usher is a sucker.
@@jeromeb4396 Usher was on this video he a true R&B artist
All them KINGS up there singing ✊✊
This will probably never happen again 😔
As Men, we need to bring this energy back.
The amount of RIP's in this is sad (Dino - H-town, Gerald & Sean - Levert, Melvin Edmonds - After 7, Kenny Greene - Intro(Italian Flag \i think Green suit next to D'angelo on piano)
So proud make me want to cry powerful
Seriously it’s sad
Yes Kenny G Love Green was next to D'angelo in the green suit and in the video for the song he was also but his hair was bleached blonde on top.
Gerald's death laid me out all day the day he transitioned...only 40. He & the others are in a far better place.😞😔😖😭😲
@@cupcakejonez7923 very sad and ironic that both Sean and Gerald have passed but their daddy, Eddie is still alive and singing those classic Ojays' hits!
The way Brian McKnight, Tevin Campbell, Gerald LeVert, Joe, and the others slayed on this song is still hitting in 2022!!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Stokely and Aaron hall too
I'm sorry yall, but Stokely snatched my entire existence.
Me too!
Tevin's opening vocal is giving Aretha teas!
💯😂😂😂
Tevin hit that note @2:05 and shook er body. They were not ready. Y’all see how they looked at him. Gone head boy show out! We see you.
They were not prepared 🤯🙌🏿
And that run Tevin did at 3:53.....🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I don't care how many times I see this it still moves me!!! All this chocolate goodness Tevin, B. McKnight, Stokely, Joe, DeBarge, Levert......so proud to be BLACK!!!!
💯💯💯
Awesome performance.
Well done!!!
Lil usher
Not Brian McKnight 😭
Say loud girl ❤️👍 Chocolate goodness 💯❤️ 🔥
Tevin Campbell was the male version of Whitney Houston, vocally. His voice is powerful.
OMG! I agree
Lol I don't know how people hear him and don't hear Aretha Franklin because that's who he sounded like in this perfomance. He definitely had Whitney mannerisms and runs but his upper register is Aretha
He hit that one note and El DeBarge turned around and looked like "oh we going there with these vocals"!!!
@@jlv3x Ikr....
Tevin and my brothers took us to church
I am watching in 2024 November ♥️♥️
When Tevin Campbell hit that note the REACTION from El DeBarge PRICELESS !
Everytime I think of Tevin Campbell's voice and talent, I daydream a bit about what we the world didn't witness of his gift in his prime.
I totally agree. Tevin never got the care and caring he deserved to showcase his natural talent; such a shame.
What y'all mean, he was the man back then
Yup
We couldn't do this today mainly because there's not enough r&b talent .....how many people would be on the stage? Maybe one or two....if that many.....I love this song and unity!!!!
Facts
That is hilarious. There is no talent today. Look at the lead tevin. Fuckin raw talent
SprayWayCustoms Actually, a lot of the original singers are still alive and we have a lot of new, great talented singers as well. So, yes we could and should do this again, especially in these tragic times right now.
That’s just dumb if you really believe there’s not enough R&B artist to do this.!
Ciaran Moran ..agreed. boyz II Men, brian, usher, rude boys, joe..truly awesome. None can beat them till today. Just an honest speaking. Hope its not too loud 🤗🤗
Still watching in 2024 and will forever be watching
Forever and ever.
Queen Latifah looks exactly the same in 2019
Who is the woman next to her?
She ain't let no man stress her out
@@darnellpervisknox5239 Country singer Lori Morgan.... Lord, why do I know that 🤣
She look great
And 2021
This song always bring me to tears. This song came out when I was a teen. I didn't have any kids then. Now, I have a 16 year old son that means so much to me. I see the strength in unity when strong men come together.
I too am crying hearing this
I hear you're on that I was just a little bit older than you at the time I believe I was 21 just out on my own just in my own apartment and I remember the song on the radio and I went out and I bought the single.
Tevin please come back, brother you can sing, God bless your heart.
Geeze, Lord bring back these times when we were united as one. Gives me goosebumps every time i listen to this, and it's 2023.This is when music was music!! Soo good makes me tear up😢 amazing men! 👏
Joe got that voice!! But Stokely, and Brian got those vocals too. 90s music was definitely the best
Those voices had a special kind of melody in the 90's. Mario's voice has it too
80's! 90's is a sequence to the 80's..
FACTS still in 2022
All of them I love it
I’m glad I’m not the only big fan of Stokely’s & Joe’s voices. Man!! They have range!!!!
*Soooo nobody else gna talk about how Tevin Campbell showed out and SANG!!!! Done threw my shoe cross the room😄..🗣️YOU BETTA SAAAANG TEV!!!!
😂😂😂
I mean you know you’re killing it when those around you just look at you lol
I am so proud to be Black!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Look at how we were compared to how we are today. It crazy how over time we have lost our way. This song is amazing and it is crazy to hear this and see the number of black men that came together.
Gerald took us to church
Didn't he. YESSS
God bless every black man in the world
👑🤜🏾💯🤛🏾❣️
Dang spoken like a true queen! May God bless you as well. Much love🙏🏾💪🏾
I agree every African boy and man should hear this. Men please make sure your son's hear this. Make it a tradition every year play the song starting from age 5 and when they have a son let them do the same Let's us make it a BMU tradition.
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
The most talent EVER assembled on a single stage.
Agreed
This is my Son, who I'm very proud of...your biggest fan....love you! Dad
Brian Mcknight last part: "Yourrrr dreaaams!!!!!!!!!!!"
Me:*throws shoe at the phone.** "you better sing that sht!!!!"
You COGIC. lol

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ok they ain't easy, grab what you know
Lol “threw SHOE at the Phone”
Tevin Campbell's voice in this song, Noone could touch his voice... Great job bruthas
Stokely pretty good
Gerald Levert. 🤷🏿♂️
Stokely
🙂... I imagine most of these guys grew up in church and something like this feels familiar and beautiful. Every one of them is a great singer.
Most of them did started singing in their church choir
This is what's missing in today's soulless and Spiritless R&B singers.
Psalms 133:1-3
A song for the ascent to Jerusalem.
Well said
Honestly, that was the secret sauce back then. Almost all of them started off in church choirs. That's why so many had soul back then.
You know Brian McKnight did, he looked like a choir director with his back to the audience and directing the singers lol
