This takes me back to when I arrived in Texas in late Summer of 1994. Going from Wisconsin to live with my Grandparents down south was something my parents and I had agreed on. Many bad choices that year in high school resulted in the consequences arrived that could have led to a different outcome. If I didn't make that choice to change. Going from a person in a bad place full of rage to healing...never forgot when I heard this song...it spoke to my soul. As a 17 year old going on 18 it spoke to me, a man of Mexican ancestry this song still resonates with me till this day. A lot of living and learning...correcting and enjoying life since those years of 1991-1994. But it was that moment when I decided to get away from the bad elements and change to be a better man. Understood the meaning of this song, and lived it. Music really is the soundtrack to our lives.
I discovered this song today thanks to an interview D'Angelo did in 1996 where he said he wrote it with his brother when he was 17. That's a wonderful tune! This is what you call being a blessed genius. I'm really into D'Angelo's music; he's one of the best artists America ever had, along with Prince, Michael Jackson, James Brown, and many others. I'm only 25 and Italian, but black music runs through my veins. Every time I find a new black song, I feel like I'm touching the sky!
I played this for my sons every time they got in my truck !! Now they have children of there own I would like to think that this song and me made a impact on them doing the right things it was a rough road but they are My beautiful sons Love Yah Much Marc Boe & Marc Courtney!!!!!!!
This song just about killed me, so many talented young black men in one song! Just think about how surprised I was when I was 15 when this song came out......in absolute awe!
Everytime I hear this song it hits a nerve and the tears start to flow! Tears for people who are lost from being misguided. So many people need to hear this song. I’m so mentally exhausted from hearing about death. I hope everyday it gets better.

GOD is gonna take of that he had promising career ahead him.

Love this 🙌🏾❤️ very deep and raw!! Salutations brother 🤗🙋🏾♀️
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
You spoke deeply for the both of us relatively bro May God bless you in abundance 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yes sir, this song had all of us reflecting as young men then. Take care Mexican American brethren
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I discovered this song today thanks to an interview D'Angelo did in 1996 where he said he wrote it with his brother when he was 17.
That's a wonderful tune! This is what you call being a blessed genius.
I'm really into D'Angelo's music; he's one of the best artists America ever had, along with Prince, Michael Jackson, James Brown, and many others.
I'm only 25 and Italian, but black music runs through my veins. Every time I find a new black song, I feel like I'm touching the sky!
This song is even more relevant now that it was when it was written. Our young black men need more guidance to stay alive
Amen my brother.there need direction
Black men we need to be together for real for real....we all we got 💯
I played this for my sons every time they got in my truck !! Now they have children of there own I would like to think that this song and me made a impact on them doing the right things it was a rough road but they are My beautiful sons Love Yah Much Marc Boe & Marc Courtney!!!!!!!

The baddest voices in RnB of the 80s & 90s, an unbelievable medley of powerful vocals; I almost missed the king himself R Kelly
I didn't. 😁❤
he kinda went crazy on his part.
Oh my god that transition from R. Kelly to Joe to Aaron Hall....lord have mercy please that almost killed me.
