There are three trains that leave from Salt Lake each day. The Green Line starts at West Valley Transit Center and terminates at Salt Lake International this train requires you pay full fare if you are transferring from FrontRunner. If you are at North Temple you don't have to worry about it but if you're coming from Arena westbound you must pay. The Red Line and the Blue Line are free ride until Courthouse Square South of Courthouse Square you are on the Blue Line and you must pay your fare. The Red Line is Free Ride from Liberty Park until Courthouse Square past this point you have to use the trolley pass to get on to the University Line if you want to use the streetcar.
My son when he was young loved to ride the trains. It was his fav thing in world. Now its Fortnight. He used play with the wooden Ikea train set. I wish I could go back in time.
This video, produced by an agency that received public funding, looks very helpful but it definitely should have captions on it. It doesn't have any captions at all on it, making this difficult for people with hearing loss to understand.

I assume that if I buy a ticket from a machine, I can use the same ticket to transfer onto say from a green train to a blue or red train. Additional question I have is how do I buy fares if I need to take a Trax and then connect to a ski bus? Do I need to buy two separate fares?
If you go anywhere except the free fare zone, like go from the Planetarium station, to Central Pointe, you will need a ticket. But riding anywhere in the free fare zone, you don't need one.
FrontRunner and the Siemens Trax cars are wheelchair accessible the SD 100 and 160 cars on the Blue Line are not wheelchair accessible and boarding for strollers and wheelchairs have to be done at the highblock. Half of the stations on the Blue Line have ramps and all the Green Line stations are wheelchair accessible. if a wheelchair comes aboard or stroller comes aboard they just roll right into the car this explains the elevated platforms at Arena and Temple Square they are used for strollers and wheelchairs to board the train.
