Damn lol , nobody said learning guitar was easy because it's not. My pinky is trying soooooo hard to work with the rest of my fingers. We got this guys stay committed and practice
It's always been something I wanted to learn since I was 12, but I put it off for so long I'm only starting now at age 42😅 but I'm loving it just wana get to the point of playing well.
I find myself laughing for trying so hard to control my own pinky 😂 Edit: Damn... you guys still can't control your pinkies eh? Well, I'll have you all know that I can control my pinky now! (More or less)
LOOOL .. in the beginning that finger will be opposing in every direction from the brain .It will refuse and be jerky and always wanting to ride high . In time .. The pinky in my experience is the most controllable after time . and definitely necessary for explosive leads and scale/mode runs

My struggle for 2 weeks of playing guitar is my ring finger have mind of its own and I can't put enough energy for my pinky to press the thick strings. Now trying to lessen the hovering distance between fingertips and the strings. There's a small improvement from the first week, taking about from 5 minutes to 30 minutes practice a day. Keep it up fellow strugglers! Keep on practicing.
Wow, it's difficult to keep those fingers down near the strings! Just a couple minutes of that and I feel like I've been doing forearm curls. There's an invisible force pulling my pinky away from the strings.
Have been following your 10 day beginner’s course and love it. All your instructions are easy to understand albeit not not always to do because my fingers often have their own ideas.. Thank you for your dedication to teach us!
Did the Spider and the Pentatonic for 10 Minutes each today. After that i did some Chord- muskle exercise. After that i tryed my Nemesis, the walkthroughs in Green Manalishi and Viola, them worked like Magic. Boring Exercises got the best results.
This first iteration is an interesting way to learn/teach this spider exercise, I was always taught not to let your fingers hover over the string but instead to start by keeping all 4 fingers placed on the string while moving 1 at a time, making sure not to let the other fingers move at all during each individual fingers accent up the strings. Its definitely much more difficult the way I was taught but it also drilled into me more finger control and finger on string spacing etiquette to allow for better sound when multiple fingers are placed closer to strings that arent being played.
That was a superb explanation....i was doing mistake of putting my finger first then strum, which lead to no synchronization, now i got the thing....thanx Andy ...It was very important for me as a beginner...now my hands will open up
Hey Andy! thank you for these exercises. you have told some of these here and there before and I was hoping that there were a way to get them all together nice and organised. and Bam ! There we have it now! I appreciate it man! keep up the good work :)

I wish utube was available 20 years ago.. I was just getting into guitar, I watched this, gave it a try for an hour.. and I feel like I wanna give up already 😅
2:54 I must have an anatomical problem in that my pinky angles strongly towards the ring finger. It doesn't want to extend straight across the fingerboard independent of the ring finger. It curls inward towards the fret the ring finger is on. Upset big time.
