I remember playing a 45 of this song over and over when I was 8 or 9.
...and now I am again at 51. I've just played this song 5 times in the last 45 minutes. LOL
The reason music was so much better in the '70s (and '80s) was because groups wrote a lot of their own music, many of them played there own instruments, there wasn't much lifting of tunes from previous music, they actually sang live on TV shows, they were talented enough that their concerts and TV appearances sounded very close to the album version of songs the songs that had become popular and there was no autotune to disguise bad singers.

Much like You Don't Mess Around With Jim, there's a lesson to be learned in that song and this one... Doesn't matter how big you are, how bad you are, how tough you are etc... There's always going to be someone who's way bigger and way tougher and way badder.

    • @ScottWildTornadoSponge
      @ScottWildTornadoSponge 9 ปีที่แล้ว +40

As a 16 year old responding, it's because people back then knew art. They knew how to make a song sound good for generations. Today, all that people care about in the music industry is booty, ass, twerking, cussing, etc. And also due to Autotune, the songs sound shiter. Don't get me wrong, not all songs today are like that, but it was certainly better 40 years ago than now.

Classic R&B Piano tempo - blended so perfectly catchy w/ acoustic, sound and tempo changes, & one of the catchiest chorus hooks of all time! This was my favorite song in the mid-70's when I was a young kid...my parents would take me out for dinner with them sometimes to a piano bar - the guy playing asked what my favorite song was....I said "Bad Boy Leroy Brown" - it was soooo cool how he played it! -everyone in the place sang with the lyrics (esp. the chorus), people started dancing & and the place went NUTS! One of my funnest memories as a very young kid...and it's Still Bad-Bad!!!

@@errolwaguespack7196 Roland C. Daniels (November 30, 1950 - September 6, 1988) was an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, Leroy Brown. He took his ring name from the Jim Croce song "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" which then also became his theme song for many of his in ring appearances. He later used the ringname Elijah Akeem as he adopted a more militaristic black Muslim character, teaming with Kareem Muhammad as the Muslim Connection and later the Zambuie Express.

Seems like 'music videos' had a longer history than just MTV's beginning in 1980. Actually, I like this kind better. Except for Jim Croce, who exemplified the class of life he came from and was very natural in his stage presence, and very few others; except for them, musicians should always be heard and not seen. Music videos became much more common in the 80s, but they started in around the 60s. Most of the time with the early ones it was just the band playing the song on a stage or out somewhere though. You didn't see more fantastical ones till the late 70s and 80s. my knowledge on that is a little hazy though, I remember hearing it somewhere. In fact some of the early more fantastical 80s music vids were made to be played as accompanying footage behind the band at concerts and were not meant to be music vids.

I remember seeing this on the Sonny and Cher Show on a Sunday night back in the early 70s. Damn, I wish there were still programs like than to watch because they always had awesome musical guests. The Smothers Brothers and Ed Sullivan were two others along with The Midnight Special and....geez, I could go on for a while! Thanks for this perfect upload.

DePatie of DePatie-Freleng who made this for Sonny & Cher's Show. While kicking arse on the Pink Panther Cartoons passed away only three years ago. I think he might've been the last "OG" Warner Animator.

I’m trying to mane a parody of this song using GTA VC. And making it into my own video.
Let me know what you think.
Well south side of Miami is little town know as Vice city. And if ya go down there ya better best beware of man named Tommy Vircetti.
Now Tommy he’s a druger and he likes his fancy clothes and like to ware his brass knuckles on everybody’s nose.
He got a custom continental, he got an eldorodo too. He’s got 32 guns in his pockets for fun he’s got a raiser in there to.
And he’s Tommy, Tommy Virceti the.baddest man in vice city.
Badder then old King Kong meaner then the rest of the mob.
That’s all I got right now give me feedback and possible ideas. Please.

It doesn't matter how much money, fame, strength, women, and glory he has? But there's absolutely one who is even more than the next guy. Stronger than others but weaker than others.
