      Almost all but the penny dropped - Pattern Settings and Global Settings. One terminology suggestion - we have "store" (pattern) but in the pattern settings it is referred to as "save" maybe standardise them? Thanks for these advanced tips and I've saved the video for future reference.

    • @devicemeister
      @devicemeister  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like to incorporate this with moderate swing values (e.g., with a Randomization Range from 1 to 8, maximum 10). This way, a touch of organic movement is added to the sequence without it becoming 'intrusive'. When listening, it's not prominently noticeable. However, if you disable the swing, you immediately realize that something is missing.

    Changing the swing for only certain beats is something I never thought of. Maybe this is an obvious technique for those with deeper theory knowledge, but it was new to me. It seems to provide the right balance between a bit of human feel and a strong rhythmic foundation.

      Thanks for your feedback! It's definitely worth investing time in Stepic. The cool thing is that you don't need to know all the functions to already achieve good and interesting results. As a starting point watch parts 2 and 3 of this tutorial. Then you'll be familiar with the most important functions. Based on this, you can gradually build up by, for example, watching the other episodes and other Stepic videos. A dedicated Cubase video isn't currently planned. However, I don't want to rule out that it may appear in future videos. That depends on the guest host.

      Hi, we have a bunch of users who use Stepic on Linux with Yabridge and are very happy with it. If you want to give it a try, feel free to send us an email. And don't worry about the many functions. You can already use Stepic in your productions and get very good results, if you have watched parts 2 and 3 of this tutorial. The rest will come step by step.

    Das coole an Stepic ist auch, dass man mit der Stepic Automations-Seite z.B. auch den Fabfilter Volcano 3 Filter (Cutoff) steuern kann mittels CC-Controller. Allerdings exportiere ich (Drag n Drop, 16Takte) immer die Random-Daten auf ne Midi-Triggerspur wodurch ich am Ende im DAW-Projekt immer flexibel bleibe. 👍🏾

    Is there a way to have different note lengths per step (1/4, 1/8 etc.)? Using the duration slider means can shorten a note but it then leaves a gap till the next note. Would like to get a mix of note lengths to make sequences sound even more fantastic

    • @devicemeister

      This is currently not possible with Stepic. However, I can imagine that this feature could lead to interesting results. I will give this topic some thought. Therefore, I have also added your suggestion to the official wishlist to keep it in mind. 🚀 I appreciate your feedback!

    Hey John - Great series. thanks!
    Question: I'm having a problem with exporting an arpeggio as sounded, not as played (as you did at 11:00). I'm In Note On mode for Transport in Midi Play, and I have Arpeggiator selected for Note-In Mode. The Arp works fine but when I export the Mdi file into my daw (Bitwig) I'm only seeing the sustained note - or Sustained Chord - I played, rather than the Midi notes generated by the Arp as you had in your example.
    Did I Miss something...?
    Thanks!

    • @devicemeister
      @devicemeister  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, if you want to consider MIDI Play during MIDI export, you need to send notes (e.g., a chord) to Stepic at the moment you perform the drag & drop. However, as Jon explains, you can always only export MIDI Play with the currently played notes. The MIDI export does not have a buffer that, for example, remembers the last 3 chord progressions. If I haven't understood your question correctly, please feel free to send us an email. There, we can help you specifically and provide additional guidance.

    Great video. Not sure if you covered this in a prior video, is there a way to glide/slide from the CC values so that they don't jump from value to value? Similar to a soft or round parameter on an LFO sequencer. Thanks!

    Hallo Jens, mir ist noch was eingefallen: Wie wäre es mit einer Möglichkeit, die DYNAMIK bei den Steps, bzgl. oben und unten, zu verkleinern / vergrößern? Man kann zwar im Masterbereich mit den Hoch/Runterpfeilen (z.B. bei Velocity) alles nach oben und nach unten schieben, aber eben nicht auseinander- oder zusammenschieben im Sinne von Dynamic verringern / vergrößern. Vielleicht könnte man sowas ermöglichen, wenn man auf einen der beiden Pfeile drückt und z.B. zusätzlich die Strg. oder Alt-Taste drückt um die Dynamik (on the fly?) zu verringern / vergrößern. Wäre natürlich gut, wenn es für beides einen Weg gebe. - Bei der Cutoff-Automatisierung wäre das auch ganz gut. - Ich weiss zwar, dass man da was über die Settings (nachträglich) eingrenzen/erweitern kann, aber meistens muss man daraufhin ja dann auch leider erst neu randomisieren, damit die neuen Settings übernommen werden.

    Erm, ok, maybe I'm missing something but it doesn't appear to be in the manual and I can't see mention of it in the chapters for any of these videos. How do you save a pattern set/configuration? I understand the save slots etc, but if I create a bunch of sequences that I may want to come back and modify at some point in the future, how do I save them then re-load them within Stepic.

    • @devicemeister
      @devicemeister  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, the feature you're looking for doesn't exist in the current version of Stepic. However, it's on the wishlist and has a high priority. An implementation will take place in the upcoming updates. Until this function is available, you can use the preset function of your DAW to save Stepic's state and load it in other projects.

    • @devicemeister
      @devicemeister  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ELLIOT8209That Stepic's swing scaling doesn't match that of Studio One probably has nothing to do with the 75% maximum range. Unfortunately, I can't tell you why might be a difference. In Stepic, 50% swing means that the (swing-)note is delayed exactly by 50% of the step length. For example, if you have set Stepic to 1/8 clock speed, with the swing set to 50%, the notes will be delayed (swung) by a 1/16 note.

    My challenge is the swing range of 75. My Daw swing goes up to 100. How can i get stepic to align with my DAW swing? Cant the developers increase the swing range to 100%? 25% in stepic is different from 25% in my daw due to the swing range in STEPIC

    • @devicemeister
      @devicemeister  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Currently, I have no plans to expand the swing range. I find the range up to 75% sufficient as it covers most use cases. Why Stepic's swing doesn't align with your DAW's swing, I can't say for sure. Could you send me a small example project so I can reproduce the behavior on my side? Then we can look into the cause and see if there's a workaround. Generally, everything is fine with Stepic's swing. For example, if you set a swing of 50%, the notes on even steps are played or swung with 50% "delay."
