Well, sure am glad you translated for me as I was just about to use Google translate! lol God bless these men and women that take on the rigorous training to where a patch like that!
Hey Bruce bro ! ..ha ha .. yeah I used to speak some French many decades ago !! lol.. I doubt that my pronunciation is any good these days though !! lol Blessings to you and Otis !! 🐾
Blessings for your kind comment but this honour does not belong to me. I was a trainee British Royal Marine but I did not pass the Commando course due to a motorcycle accident that altered my life. Thanks so much for watching and have a wonderful weekend !! X

That's awesome about your Dad bro.. what an amazing career !! I used to work with computers back when.. I was putting the 'SH' into 'IT' ..lol.. 😁😂Blessings as always my friend

Thanks for watching ! I have found what I think to be the clearest answer to your valid question ! ''The 1er RPIMa inherited the traditions of the two Free French Special Air Service (SAS) Regiments that served with distinction alongside the British SAS Brigade during World War II. On September 15, 1940, General Charles de Gaulle signed the activation order of the 1ère Compagnie d'Infanterie de l'Air (1ère CIA) of the Free French Forces, or 1st Free French Airborne Infantry Company, under the command of Captain Bergé. The 1ère CIA began operational missions, parachuting into occupied France in March 1941. The company was then split into two units, a covert action unit used for clandestine operations and a conventional and uniformed company sent to North Africa in September 1941 to fight Axis Forces along with British Forces. A very good relationship was quickly established between Captain Bergé and Major David Stirling, the commander of the newly created Special Air Service (SAS); the French detachment was soon incorporated into the SAS and became the French Squadron. From 1942 to 1943, the French SAS roamed the region, ranging as far as Crete hunting down Axis forces and destroying their aircraft and supply dumps. In November 1943, the 3rd and 4th Air Infantry were created and incorporated into the SAS Brigade along with their British and Belgian counterparts, the 1st and 2nd SAS Regiments.'' So to cut a long story short.. it was because of French involvement in WW2 with the newly formed British SAS !
Probably they copied in the last word war, when we helped them considerably. . Maroon beret and patch . The majorly of the French might never admit we helped them and they copied, however. They certainly assisted sabotage of Britain post war as a reward. Their establishment classes only acknowledge US and other assistance in the first and second global conflicts. Anything to do with the Reformation and their / the US oligarchic decision to back the anti-reformation forces via revolution, Napoleon, the Washington empire, etc? Maybe even older than that?
Thanks for the interesting information. Yes a Scot called David Stirling formed the SAS in WW2 (as you probably already know !) I have always been interested in the SAS. I have another YT friend whose father was a pioneer of HALO jumps during his career in the 22 SAS. His channel is called Wye Explorer ! My own cousin was in the 21 SAS having passed selection. I was very happy to obtain this French version of that amazing unit. I do have the beret somewhere.. I never got around to sewing the patch on to it !!
