Listening to this reminds me of being a child, most importantly, a child who wasn't actively being tormented or beaten by his parents. Thanks; These sounds were a relief from hell.
I still remember, I traded my pokemon blue for this game, cause it was the only black gbc cartridge I had ever seen. Thought the game was bad at first, since I was 6 years old and could barely read, but grew to love it. Yet nowadays I still tear up when I hear the music. What a great game.
I haven't played this game in at least 12 years and I still remembered "Town's Arrival" It still gets stuck in my head sometimes. Thanks for uploading this!
If anyone ever tells you that a machine can't sing, then point them to 18. Through the Fields - [1:34:52] Even twenty years later that one gets me. What a beautiful game to play, look at, and listen to. What a masterpiece.
I spent soooo much time on both DWM and DWM2 back when I was like 9 and going forward. DWM was the first game I ever did any grinding in. I thought the monster breeding system was so awesome that I just tried to breed to get new cool monsters. With DWM2 I actually saved for the strategy guide so I would know the monster combinations to get the really cool ones.
Hell yea, basically the same template for me. 🤘 there was nothing cooler than playing DWM 1 without a guidebook back then, just figuring out everything from scratch
Just dropping in the comments to say a special Thank You Paul ❤ I could try and explain what it means to hear the soundtrack to this game that I hold so dear to my heart, but you, crafting this for all of us to enjoy... I'm confident you already know. I hope life has been, and is kind to you in your journey. Please know my heart and soul are lifted thanks to your generosity. 💛
🙏 thank you for the amazing words, i really appreciate that. I'm happy to hear you love this game & its music as much as i do! I did quite enjoy crafting this piece of dwm art 👌
This soundtrack is so close to my heart, towns arrival and peaceful town in particular just get me in that lovely nostalgic mood. It's amazing how the composer managed to make such beautiful music with just three sound channels!
It really is inspirational. If I ever get in to writing programs which make music, this game will be a big reason why. I played the heck out of DWM when I was a kid. It's really up there with Pokemon.
I didn't know the composer Sugiyama had already passed. I just found out after discovering Akira Toriyama passed weeks ago. Dang. Really makes me appreciate this game even more!
It was soo good that I played the game even though the version I had was in a difference language and didn't understand anything.. I memorised the length and shape of the letters/words to distinguish between different abilities to use and some how managed to work out how to save the game by selecting a bunch of buttons through trial and error xd
So underrated. This was my favorite game for a few years straight at least. Maybe one of the best of its kind and generation. I will have to play it again some day. It really brought me a lot of joy.
I never got to play 2, but man I loved the first game. I'm playing Dark Prince now on Switch and it's fun but these were next level. Maybe it's because of how much was left to the imagination, but the original felt so surreal to me in a way that games just aren't anymore. The soundtrack, as usual with Dragon Quest, is so good.
It's true , the first one really captured the dream realm adventure vibe . A major factor in that was the fact that it was an amalgamation of features from all the preceding dragon quest games, 1 through 6. Because of this, there was a constant sense of mystery, a continual sense that there were gigantic unexplored stories we would never get to understand. At least that's what I was able to pin it down to later on in life
Got a dark drum on 1 a few years ago bred it down the line for a versatile and thrashed gran so I'm very happy, coincidentally through the field played as I was saying this (fav dw song)
Super nostalgic. Replaying recently and the tracks are always cut short. Never ending journey is just the best, shifting from the treacherous to the uplifting and then back again. All the feels with this music, played this and DWM2 hard as a kid. Thanks and big ups!
I keep returning to this video. The rotating visuals are a great touch, thank you for all these awesome mixes! I'm replaying Dragon Warrior Monsters on my GBC but it feels like the tracks are always cut short while I'm traveling around the world, so these longer cuts are perfect. Big ups!
Thanks man, i appreciate it. And good point the tracks sadly do get cut short when playing the actual game. Savage for playing it on the OG Gameboy color!
wow, i didn't know they made a dragon warrior monsters 2. i logged more hours on the first one than any other game on my gameboy. excited to try out the sequel
The sequel was such a great improvement, just like the main Dragon Warrior series. definitely give it a play! The 1st is still my favorite tho for the sake of nostalgia
Anyone know where I might be able to stream this soundtrack and other DQ soundtracks without having to keep an app like TH-cam open the entire time? This stuff is perfect for menial office work.

yes i know, its named dragon quest monsters it was also released here in europe (monsters 1 and 2). for monsters 2 it has 2 versions like pokemon did.
Let's be honest. This soundtrack didn't just pop up in your recommended videos. You searched for it
Not gonna deny it. These are straight bangers.
It did exactly that on my end (Didn’t search, probably because of my love for listening to VGMs tho that I got it recommended to me lol)
Rest in peace, creator of my favorite childhood game
Listening to this reminds me of being a child, most importantly, a child who wasn't actively being tormented or beaten by his parents. Thanks; These sounds were a relief from hell.
Lol same. My escape to another world
You used to get beaten up by your parents too ??

DWM2 - My number 1 game of all time. No other comes close
Amen
I haven't played this game in at least 12 years and I still remembered "Town's Arrival" It still gets stuck in my head sometimes. Thanks for uploading this!
Thank you for allowing me to relive my memories.
No problem, man- I thoroughly enjoyed putting this together.
22 years after playing I could still recall never ending journey from memory. Actually hearing it again is pretty cool
I try and play it every time i see a piano lol. Only song i can play on piano lol
@@Wingforth that’s so niche and super cool. I’d love to just wip that out at every keyboard opportunity I got lol
@@yargehtthe sad thing is no one ever recognizes it. Im waiting for the day lmao
If you think about it, the further you progress, the more music you're unlocking. Best video game ever.
That's an awesome way to think about it.
I play just to unlock the sounds. 😅
Always been the joy of dragon quest, unlocking the monster designs and the music.
crazy how much time i sank into these games as a kid
Yep- my time count was always above 200 hours. 🤯🤯
@@PaulClermontwe all needed to get that darkdrium

Never Ending Journey really hits me hard, what an amazing tune. Thanks for the high quality versions of these.
Let's join, so many memories! Thanks for the upload, i really love this game in my childhood.
I think that song sums up my feelings about this game as well 👌💯

2:37 One of the most nostalgic battle themes for me. Immediately recognized it after ~20 years.
I didn't know the composer Sugiyama had already passed. I just found out after discovering Akira Toriyama passed weeks ago.
Dang. Really makes me appreciate this game even more!
It's a shame that not many people played this game, it was really good after all
I know man! It's sad. That's partly why I made these mixes- to bring the fans together. 👌

Hearing Terry's World theme after all these years is such a trip. 🌠
And same here- i was like 8 or 9. 👊
Bless you man! This brings me back to my childhood
thank you for making this playlist! lots of good memories.
I was sad that Dark Prince didn't have one iconic song...oh wait, it's in the mole hole dlc...when it's a world theme in Joker 2
Cool video!!!
