I am 82 and have wanted to paint……but was “afraid” and just didn’t know where to start. You make it such a joy…and I love listening to you talk as you paint. And I am painting and enjoying it!
Diane, there's just so much I love about this video! The little cat, "ARTthur" is adorable. It's a purrfect little painting to send to a cat-loving, painting friend. An added bonus is seeing your sweet slice of heaven with your beloved animals. Watching your dog run and seeing Arthur try to pounce him is so cute. Getting to see you and Tamsin was a highlight. Two lovely humans that make the world a much better place. Thank you both for all you do to brighten our days. xo
Thank you so much Carolyn for your sweet and affirming words. It means so much to us that you and all the others who watch are enjoying and benefitting from what we do.
Yes! It’s colder than normal here in Orange County, California! Someone posted a picture of snow on the beach and that never happens! We always have snow capped mountains for winter… beautiful. I really enjoyed the video of your studio and Arthur in the wheel barrow. I’m a country girl at heart and wish I could live out where I could have chickens and horses. I look forward to hearing you every day, you are a kindred spirit!
I live in Ca and agree with you, not snowy in nearly as many places as we’ve had snow these past days. On the positive side , we will be ever so happy for the water.
Hello Diane from cold So Cal. We actually got snow here yesterday (and unfortunately I was not home!!!) our San Gabriel Mountains got several feel I believe. But the rain that’s coming will wash away the dusting at lower levels. Love to Arthur! And all the woolies, and Gabriel!
The animals are great - nothing like ovine lawn-mowers. :-) That cow definitely wants her portrait done. Not only was there snow in the mountains and in northern California where it belongs, but even parts of greater Los Angeles got a bit yesterday! Not my neighbourhood, but some places at higher elevations.
Art is adorable. Simply sketch and watch but lots of personality. Appreciate how you always encourage us to make things our own. Takes the pressure off and allows the imagination to roam. Thank you!
Diane, snow not only in the Sierras, but in Southern California as well. Highways and freeways closed due to snow or flooding. It's a good time to stay indoors and paint cats.

Hi Jeannie, and thanks so much for your lovely message! So glad you’re enjoying all the videos! We are lucky to live here in some ways, and it is beautiful. Wishing you much joy in painting!
Hello Diane ;) Love your felines, they make me smile and I love fun they are to create. Also, love the snippets from your cottage farm and all the critters ;) A blissful day to you!
Sweet little cat painting, I’ll have to give it a try. Love to see your farm and the animals. Arthur is so cute! Thank you for sharing your creative talents and a look into your life in France.
Sweet end to winter's confinement! Puddies and stripes are so cute on Arthur! I really like the idea for a specialized card of the cat for any particular hobby or person!
I enjoyed the great outdoors with the animals on the farm and the cartoon cat was delightful to watch you draw . Thank you, your tutorials have been so helpful in my beginner watercolor journey.❤
I love this cute cat! Another one to add to my collection! I have been perfecting the quirky bird in the last couple of days. 🤗 Thank you for letting us have a glimpse of your beautiful surroundings! 💕
Love your new intro Diane - no snow here, one day away from officially being autumn but temperatures are still very warm. Thanks for the lovely Art - he really is ‘art worthy’! 🐨👍
I had to giggle when I heard the cat's name was Arthur......which is also my hubby's name and my newest grandson.....and then I burst out laughing when I heard one of the sheep's name is Lili.....which is my name!!! What an honor!!! LOL!!! I love love love your cat drawing actually love all your drawings because they are whimsical and if you want a cat with square or triangular eyes - well you can! I never and still don't like following rules and because of that my art teacher always failed me.....for two years!!! That was some 50 years ago and I am because of following you on TH-cam, I finally gave myself permission to paint, or draw as I please.....so thank you very much....Love your outdoor scenes.....we live in a more rural area but still have to go about a kilometre to see a horse.....we stop the car when we pass the cows and they always greet us with a great moo or sadly it is their cry for help!!! Take care!
Hi Lily and thanks so much for your interesting and kind comments! Arthur’s a great name, it was my dad’s name and we’ve called all our ginger toms Arthur! So glad you enjoy breaking the rules - I had the same problem at school with rules as you did, they didn’t appreciate my rebellious nature! Have fun doing your own thing and I’m looking forward to your next message!

Hi Linda and thanks for your lovely message! So glad you are enjoying the videos. Yes, the barn is a lovely subject to draw or paint. I did a drawing of it some years ago before we put the chickens inside and I really should paint it some day! Hope you enjoy painting your little cat!

Hi Diane I loved everything about this video!! Thanks for a fun cat pic and the tour of your gorgeous surroundings! Gorgeous sheep! Do you shear them and if so what do you do with the wool? Your chickens are lovely too! And I'm guessing that was Tamsin in the video too? Her voice sounds alot like yours 🥰 Oh I wanted to say that we have had an exceptionally cold and rainy Feb here in the Arizona desert and this morning there was snow all over the Superstition Mountains and to the Mountains to the East of us as well. More than I've seen in years. Really beautiful to see here in the desert. Have a great week ahead! I'll be painting this cat for sure! ❤️🥰
Hi Susan and thanks so much for your kind and interesting comment! I so appreciate and enjoy hearing about the place where you live. We have our sheep shorn every year by a neighbour who has many years experience. Unfortunately he is now 80 years old and I don’t know how much longer he’s going to be able to do it. I’m praying he teaches his son the art as there are not many people round here who can shear. I spin the wool and knit, weave and crochet with it. I have a large number of hats and scarves made from our sheep’s wool! Yes, that was Tamsin, and you’re right, we do sound alike. Sometimes on recordings I don’t know if it’s her or me speaking! Amazing about the weather. Everyone has so much snow in strange places. We might get some more tonight, which will make twice in one year, which is quite unusual. Keep warm!!! And thanks again xxxxx
The Sierra Nevada mountains. I live in the mountains of Kern County in California. And it is COLD. Usually we will get light snow here once or twice in winter. This year we are getting multiple snow days. And rain in between. I blame the groundhog
Dear Diane. I enjoy your tutorials and just now discovered your sheep and garden. Lovely! May I ask, since you live in France (correct?) do you speak French? I love watercolor and French so was just curious. Thank you.
AAAHH! A Dr Kitty Leela! She LOVES assisting me with my painting; especially if I’m using my ink (sticks OR liquid). If I haven’t mentioned, Chinese ink has floral and herbal essences added..at least one of which acts similar to catnip…at least with my nutty Dr Leela. Before I start painting, I’ll take some practice Xuan, paint a few characters or doodles, allow it to dry a bit, crumple it up, and throw it to Leela; who will then happily play with it, roll on top of it and rub her face on it…leaving me alone to paint, at least for a bit. We got a few “unexpected” inches of snow yesterday. (Forecast was for trace to an inch..we got about 3). Dr Leela turns into “Snowbunny” when it snows and demands I fill her pool with snow to play with inside. I wasn’t in the mood to go out in 17°F icy, snowy weather. I opened the door to my back porch and told HER to go get her own snow..she walked out a few steps, felt the ice covering our porch..then a piece of snow/ice dropped from the roof crashing on the stairs..she raced back in and went straight to my…OUR, heating pad on the bed. No more stomping her foot for snow. 😂. Tomorrow though, we’re getting at least 6-8 inches; I’ll put her pool on the first step (it’s a rather tiny 24 inch “pool”) to catch snow and she can play in it…I put a cheap shower curtain underneath it and it keeps her busy for quite awhile. I’ve been having some stomach issues and Dr Leela has taken to draping herself over my side or tummy..and sleeping like that…AFTER she bats my face, cranes her neck for a quick kiss…I’ll tweet you a picture (I’m Solopocono…just ignore my controversial tweets. I’m TRYING to stay off the platform after I got suspended again. Apparently, the Shanghai Communiqué, which WE drew up and signed…is now Chinese propaganda 🙄🤷🏼♀️)
Hi Elaine, thanks for your hilarious message! Dr Leela sounds like she is at one really crazy cat! I never heard of a cat liking snow before! Come to that, I don’t understand what you’re doing with all that snow over there - it’s in the forecast for us tonight as well. I think I’ve had enough of the winter! Sorry to hear you’re having tummy problems and hope you feel better soon. All the best, Love Diane.
