Can you comment on how the two compare when set to the middle joint on the slip joint? The jaws on the Icons are noticeably misaligned when in this position. Same for the Snap On? And how about the width of the tips? The Icons seem to have a thicker tip and a thinner tip when you look at them from the top. Thanks.

Snap On tools are great tools no doubt..... I personally think they are over-priced. Their warranty is great and the fact that a tool rep visits you makes buying and warrranties easy....

Agree, that's why everytime when I get on the Snap-off truck, the first thing I ask is "what's on sales today?" like an old Asian lady...

The ICON’s do have a cutter 4:01 @ the inner-base of the each jaw. That little round semi-circle portion is a cutter.
Try cutting some solid 12g wire or something, you’ll see. I have the Big 9” snappy ACF pliers, and use the same style semi-round cutter on those all the time to cut heavy gauge wire they use to wrap our bar stock at work.
(I do see it’s not the straight style cutter on the ICONs.)
Looks like ICON copied them pretty well still, huh? Lol.

I’ve got a pair of the Snap On pliers at work and was very impressed since the day I got them. I love how the teeth just bite into everything and doesn’t slip. At home, I recently bought a pair of Knipex TwinGrip “slip joint” pliers and I don’t like them at all. It’s got cutouts on the teeth like Vampliers and they probably have their place but I’ve got Vampliers for that kind of stuff. Sometimes, small things that you want to grip, falls into the cutouts and you have to carefully regrip them by the tiny flat edges. It’s more too fiddly. Maybe I’ll go and get a pair of Icons to try.

Icon is nothing more than a copycat manufacturer. They take brands like Snap-On and Knipex. Is cheats and copy everything they possibly can. But there's that little old statement that rings true still today. Many brands have tried to copy these manufacturers however none have been able to duplicate what they can do.. you're far better buying the higher-end pair of pliers over the icon every time

Wrong, snap-on is far from the only company that makes triple joint or more slip joint pliers. Take Knipex twin grip pliers are just one example of these types of pliers Other manufacturers do the same exact thing.
