    All very interesting information. I haven't looked much into the changes made for the 2019 over the 2017. However, I have been looking into the idea of putting in a highlifter belt. I never ran into the issue with the wiring being cut off but did see a few people on here that did. Any clutching improvements are always nice! Especially if you don't have to spend the extra on an already pricey machine to get the performance you are looking for. Nice review of a great machine!

      North Country Boyz thank you for the support. I always have a new belt inventoried which my dealer lets me swap when I get a new belt. During the swap I took pictures and a video of the belts. High lifter belt is a slightly smaller diameter and inside material is reddish. Not scientific but interesting. I’ll do updates riding my 570 this weekend to compare. Have a great Christmas have a muddy new year.

      @@maraudermitchelli the highlifter belt may be Kevlar lined but I am not 100% sure. The smaller diameter will definitely keep a tighter belt...faster engagement from the sounds of it. Now you have me interested to see what the difference is for myself :-)

      A Jacobs my 2 cents. If you ride on trails which don’t have extremely steep hills and mud the can Am is a great machine. Awesome engine and low end torque. We ride on steep hills year round, so steep I’m worried my front tires are going over my head, so steep if you run up to fast and don’t modulate the throttle the front wheels are going over your head. I’m a big guy and 53 years old I can’t wait for the visco lock to spin a tire three times to engage, and then disengage when you let off the throttle. Many people ride can Am on gradually inclines and their fine. They improve that front diff I’m in.

    • @maraudermitchelli
      @maraudermitchelli  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Flying Brian DO wow that was my concern also, stayed up at night contemplating, watched TH-cam videos of Polaris’s walking up trees and Can Am diff resenting every time the throttle is let up. I think you have to learn how to drive it, when it engages don’t come off the throttle all the way as then the diff has to build pressure to reengage. I wasn’t comfortable with a aftermarket locker diff, then it’s always engaged and that’s not good for trail riding. I’m so impressed with my slow poke defender xmr my next atv maybe Canadian! You’ll burn at the start but if the runways long he’ll catch you midrange...said slow poke Pete. I’m happy for you I love ❤️ that v twin!

I am similar to you as you said in your video about being a bigger guy and don't really drive over 45MPH. @@maraudermitchelli, ok based on your good advice and some test driving some 570s and 850, I really see your point. IMO a HUGE, unbelievable difference between the two just on the suspension upgrades alone. so now I'm at a lost between the 850 SP premium that my local dealer has and the XP 1000, which no one in my area has. I guess I'd have to order one. My question to you is your opinion between the 850 SP and the XP 1000. a big enough difference to make the upgrade and justify the 1500$ difference? thanks for any help.

    • @maraudermitchelli
      @maraudermitchelli  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ken man have you driven a Can Am outlander 650-850-1000. I like the xtp model with adjustable shocks. I would highly recommend you check them out so you’ve covered the big bore market.
      In real world use the difference in power between the 850 and 1000 is slim unless your drag racing. I don’t know if they’ve revamped the clutch and gearing on the 2019 850. We know for most trail riding a 350-500 is all we need, but our egos take over. A 1000 xp gets you closer to a 1000 xp premium and the upgrade for great tires, winch, front bumper, cool seat, full rear light bar and stitched seat are beyond the added $1,100 if my memories right. No matter what you buy I highly recommend a winch, you may not use it for a while but when you do you’ll be thankful.
      I’m struggling whether to buy a Can Am atv also.
      I’m here if more help is needed.

    • @maraudermitchelli

      I did not know there was an 850 sp premium, definite worth the upgrade in the 850 class. They say it has arched A arms but it’s difficult to see in pictures. The 1000 premium has a better tire, but the 850 is extremely nice. 850 may be a reasonable purchase!

    Very nice review. I’ve had 3 can am renegades and a Polaris rzr 1000s amongst other machines , so I’m not biased but now I’m in the market for an Atv with more storage and coverage from mud. I’ve narrowed it down to the exact model you have, and the exact model you were looking at from can am, the xtp. So far I’m favoring the sportsman a little more but I’ve never rode one . Until I test ride one I can’t make a final decision. It seems like the sportsman has way more storage and looks way more stable due to longer wheelbase than can am. How does the power compare to outlander 1000 because I also like to drag race my buddies and their outlanders.

    • @maraudermitchelli
      @maraudermitchelli  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Giuseppe Catalano I’m interested by your name where are you from?
      You are 100% on target with all your comments...bam!!! The ride and stability set Polaris apart from all other brands in the market, we agree. No other brand has the internal storage of a polaris, we agree. Friends with non Polaris machines ride with big bulky storage boxes which raise the cg effecting handling and storage. Storage boxes are usually unnecessary for a day ride. I really like the Can Am V twin engine and the clutch which engages at a lower rpm. I believe the Can Am has more low end torque than the Polaris, it pulls like a polaris 570 snappy....very smooth engine. In a race we’d be splitting hairs, drag strip Polaris wins, eventually when it hits its power band its running over the can Am. running a tight trail Polaris wins with its suspension stability and ride, in the woods hills Polaris awd wins no contest. In the mud hole can Am may win because of the rear suspension. Quality may tip to Can Am, ease of maintenance Polaris. If can Am gets rid of their visco lock for something like Polaris awd I’ll try it. You will definite be better mud protected on a utility atv. Thank you for watching my fellow Italian merry Christmas

      Hi guys. I have both a 2019 sportsman and outlander xtp. Both are great machines and have their advantages and disadvantages but overall, i think the can am is better. The suspension is better at high speeds compared to polaris which the suspension is better at slow speed. The can am is also faster even at top speed but not alot due to the fact that it gets off the line very quickly. Although both great machines, i think if you oike to go fast you should consider the can am as your next atv!

    Nice vid... you do your hill climbing in high gear?... my old 500ho will smoke a belt quick climbing steep hills at low speeds in high. I use low gear better torque and control, im over 260 pounds and when you add the machine, fuel, gear and fluids... easy 1000+ pounds ... Low gear will save belts and its easier on the machine when putting it under heavy load.

      Well i'm heavier than you, this machine did fine in high gear carrying me up the hill. You are correct on low gear, but i think this is location, trail condition, experience, hill steepness and type, and machine specific depended. I don't think there is one set rule to hill climbing for all machines. I also believe that keeping the machine in the middle of its power band and steady throttle helps the belt going up hill...rather than eratic power changes. Sometimes when testing a new machine i'll use low gear. Thank you for watching and commenting...you're not wrong by any means.

    Not hating but why pay 11K+ for an ATV when you can get another sxs ?? Aside from being able to fit in smaller places I see no reason to spend that on an ATV but good video man did like learning about the sportsman an glad your happy with it

      Echo 2-1 you drive a sxs and ride a atv. Atv riding is much more physical, I’m sore after most rides. Not sxs are bad but atv’s to me are more adventurous.

    Nice video sir. If I may share? I have the Outlander 1000. Currently I have 7,400 miles on it. I maintain it very well and I put it through a rough pace. I’m 6’3” and weigh 268 on a good day lol. I climb a lot of hills some pretty steep hills sort of like you described in your video. I’ve never had any issue with my Outlander and neither has the previous owner or his family. I realize everybody is brand loyal and that’s cool. I have some buddies who own the Polaris 1000 similar to yours and unfortunately they all spend quite a bit of time in the shop. I’m not trying to start any drama with you about and I hope you don’t have that issue with yours. I hope to see more videos in the future of your machine. I’m currently saving for a new Outlander or maybe even a Renegade XXc 1000 this time around. My dealer sells both brands and he has said to keep with the Can Am. I asked why and he said he is told to push the Polaris solely for the reason of the shop time they receive on that brand. It keeps the service men in business. He even went as far as to show me the number of machines in for maintenance...1 older 08 Can Am and 15 Polaris ATVs were in the back. 7 newer models (16-18). I appreciated his honesty about that. I thought that’s was worth passing on anyway. Regardless, I hope you enjoy your Sportsman. It’s a good looking machine.

      No war of words, my dealer has said the same thing. The AWD drive on the Polaris is almost instant, where the visco lock is not and on their other machines they are moving towards the smart lock. If you own a Polaris Sportsman you have to turn a wrench or pay the dealer to change suspension bushings as they may last 500 miles before replacement. Most people do not check their suspension bushings. It seems many Can Am owners complaining of overheating...this could be improper maintenance i don't know. We're splitting hairs. If you tell me Can Am is a better built machine i will not argue with you. Engineer Dave (ED) did a lot of research and concluded in many ways the Japanese machines are the best built, problem is we don't like their creature comforts. Personally i like the rugged american look of the Polaris. Enjoy your machine, i want to buy a Can Am something fierce, i love that smooth V twin. I'll try to contact you before i do. Always be honest and don't worry about hurting my feelings. Thank you for commenting and watching my channel...ride safe.

      Marauder Mitchelli yes sir. I do maintain it. I totally get the brand loyalty thing. Polaris does make a fine machine. I hope I didn’t come off the wrong way. Can Am has some problems too. The over heating seems to be one for some guys. I’ve never had it happen but I suppose if you think about it the 1000 cc machine offers a ton of power. They’re destined to get hot. Watching your video I can see some really nice similarities between our machines. Especially the engine braking when going down hill. Your Polaris sounds rugged and smooth at the same time. It’s a good looking machine for sure. A side note: I noticed you’re using a drone. I just bought one myself so I could get some above the head footage. I’ve never tried a drone before I got this one. The first attempt I made at flying it I had gotten it stuck in a tree. Way up high of course lol. I need lots of practice obviously but I do like how your footage came out in this video.

      Sorry didn’t finish...I’ve only used mine in the yard and been very carefully. Some brands are impossible to hit trees. Hope the damage wasn’t bad.

    How in the world did you get this machine. My dealer tells me i can’t get mint till March? WTH

    • @maraudermitchelli
      @maraudermitchelli  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My dealer could not get a machine until Mid December, then i saw that dealers in the Southern states were showing them in stock. I've purchased 7 machines from my dealer in 5 years, Polaris and my dealer helped quicken my delivery. Now is the time to get a machine, in 2017 i tried to get my first 1000 LE March/April and the dealers were sold out until September. I'm loyal to my dealer and they take very good care of me. If you want and trust your dealer sign for it. BTW no one sponsors my videos, i just like what i like. Thank you for watching and i hope you get a machine soon.

    Polaris sportsman xp1000 or can am outlander 1000xtp which one is performance quality strength?

    • @maraudermitchelli
      @maraudermitchelli  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oğuzhan Ayvaz the Can Am is faster, has more low end torque and the clutch engages at a lower rpm, it also has better quality suspension parts...and others.
      Polaris has a softer ride.
      Hope this helps 😊

      Melvin Boström the exact same 90hp. But the machine is clutched and geared lower for climbing hills and woods riding. My previous machine went 85mph who needs an atv they does that. Thank you for watching.

      We don't need a big bore machine to enjoy ATV riding...so if you not interested in big bore you are 100% correct. I will be uploading a video on my 570 which is an amazing machine. But we all have the right to want what we want, so if you interested in a big bore machine the limited package is well worth, and i disagree with you. The limited package includes tires which last 4 times longer than stock $250, a 3,500 lb winch with synthetic line $450, a front bumper $300...all installed. These three items almost pay for the limited package (plus stitched seat and custom paint). But the high lifter clutch and gearing priceless, just priceless!
